Comments: Is this more likely from the 1980’s (rather than 1970’s as the listing suggests?)

The format and wording of the creed stamp indicates that it was made between 1988 and 1990, maybe even as late as 1992. It's a 5120 Shoulder Pouch Small. I think that style first was produced around 1980-81 but dates of early pre-catalog styles are always hard to pin down.

And a warning about dates - several early 2000s Coach "guides" posted at various websites had the dates completely messed up and were as much as 10 years off. Unfortunately some sellers are still using them even though they've been mentioned often as being inaccurate and undependable, as well as just too darn old to be useful. Don't EVER depend on each and every Coach seller to know dates, names, numbers, and bag history especially when the name Bonnie Cashin is invoked. An accurate dating history is posted in the Salearea Guides right here in the Coach Shopping forum. The first 13 posts are a history of that history.

If you mean the one with the 056-2130 serial number, that one is much too old by about 10 years to be from the Equestrian line. It was made in the late 1980s, not the 1990s, and could be a 5190 Envelope Portfolio from the Business line and measures 16 by 11 inches according to the catalog.

Hi @Hyacinth! Apologies for the delay between posts, but I had a question about this potential id.

This bag arrived today and on closer inspection it’s not an Envelope Portfolio due to some differences I’ll list below. It is probably part of a feminine professional line. But as you’ve already authenticated, should I move this to another thread? Maybe Vintage due to age? Just let me know and I’ll move.

The first bag I asked to authenticate WAS an Envelope Portfolio, but my 056-2130 doesn’t have the same characteristics. It’s a similar size, but has two separate straps that attach to the front and back in the middle, the straps that are sewn in the round like thick piping, there are front and back pockets in addition to the main compartment and interior zippered pocket, and there’s a magnetic closure under the flap. I’ve attached some clearer pictures.

It's definitely not an Equestrian Shopper, but it's like that one made larger with tube-like straps and a little tab epaulet holding them on, like a Broadway Bag with longer straps. I'm sorry for the poor comparison, I'm not familiar enough with the style variations to offer a better comparison.

Any ideas? (I stuck it next to my Willis for size reference.)

It's authentic. I would be worried about the appearance of the leather. It looks like it has been oiled. Also it has verdigris.

Me again. Appreciate the help

Comments: This can't be real, can it? It looks very stiff. And on the last pic I see the back of the strap going over the top is misaligned. It is a style I have never seen but I am still a bit of a newbie.

Thanks!

HELLO-
My apologies. As my post indicated I am NEW to the site and wasn't sure if the initial post came through so I only sent the post again in case it was not received since as you indicated it was sent late last night. Since the post was sent out late, I did not expect a response at that hour nor was my resending it again an attempt to force a response from you quicker. If that was the impression that you received, that was not my intention as I only was concerned it did not go through as other responses were received. I appreciate your reply and will await a response as time permits. THANK YOU!!!
Which seller did you buy from on Poshmark? I see a few things that I don't like. Please provide the link to your item's listing.

Hi Authenticators!
New to the site. I recently purchased this Coach Field Tote bag from Poshmark and need some help with authenticating. The hardware looks good but the Made in Vietnam tag on the inside seam is a little concerning as I don't see the same tag in my other Coach Field Tote bag that is in the bigger 40 version. I appreciate the help!

I want to see the seller ID and listing also but I'm positive that the bag is fake. There are so many problems.

Here's just one example showing problems:

Hi could someone authenticate this bag?

Item: Vintage Coach Court Bag
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: Liltone99, Poshmark
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Court-vintage-purse-bag-9870-USA-black-605d2de881a36c6f2b699f6b
Comments: I bought this purse and now realize that it might be fake. Using my brief research, I looked at the coach creed for this bag and it says “Made in United States of America” but also has the style number underneath (9870).

What I learned online was that in the 1970s, Coach used to write this “Made in USA” label but wrote a unique bag serial number below the old creed text (this purse uses this old creed text). Later on, Coach inserted its “Made in X” information within the new creed and then made the number beneath the text informative with a style number (in this case for a court bag, XXX-9870). I am writing this here in case any of this is incorrect. I used this website: http://vintagecoachbags.com/index.php/authenticity-guide/.

This bag combines these old and new practices of older “Made in USA” placement, older creed text, and newer use of “XXX-9870” which has never happened, I think?

What do you guys think? Thanks so much.
