I want to sell this item and have been accused of it being a fake. I used to live close to an outlet, so I have quite a bit of their stuff, however, I am trying to learn about their authentication system which I am learning is more pieced together information (some great sources I have found along the way) since Coach does not authenticate their stuff.

Thank you for your input, I sincerely appreciate it! I have not been able to find this bag online at all in any searches for myself. I know where I got it, but with selling it, it is my word and my direction of where to look up information that I can offer to someone (if that makes sense).

Coach doesn't have ANY "authentication system", that's one of the problems.

If you haven't already found the six Salearea Coach Guides, you may want to read and Bookmark them. They were actually researched on a point-by-point basis, NOT just Copied & Pasted from someone else's "guide". Or worse yet, from "Ask Yahoo", which seems to be where a lot of these people accusing other people of selling fakes were getting their information.

The facts should be accurate at least through late 2019 and Coach's LATEST adjustments to their serial number "system", or lack of one. Read the entire thread for the full picture:

Good Morning,

Please can you find a moment to authenticate my latest purchase:

Purchased: EBay UK
Seller: hannahbananapants
Link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164811882403
Comments: My research tells me this may be a Convertible Clutch, Style Reference 9635, pre-1994. She is a dramatically dark navy...do you know her age/colourway please?
She is actually a lot more beat up than the sale images (now in-hand), but hopefully she will rehab well).
The hangtag appears to be black, so possibly not original?

Many thanks in advance. Please stay safe.

Zoe xx

Genuine Convertible Clutch, and from the early 1990s.

I'm surprised etsy would pull it as fake. I didn't think they were too proactive about that. The bag is authentic. Are you sure they didn't pull it for not being vintage? It's a beautiful bag.

Dear Authenticators, if anyone available to have a look, I'd appreciate it. I'm not even sure if there is enough info here in this listing to authenticate.

Item: Coach maroon purse
Listing number: NA
Seller and site where listed: mallison58 , Poshmark

Comments: I think it is what they call the Park Swingpack sold at the outlets few years back - so these I think have no creed patches inside. I usually see this a bit more than this online, I'd say 40-50 and up, depending on condition, so it is suspiciously cheap. So the seller either doesn't now what he/she is selling or trying to pass a fake - that was my thinking.

A related question: are there a lot of fakes of the styles sold at the outlets?

Thanks whateve.
I didn’t list as vintage, only said “near vintage “
I attached a screen shot of part of the email Etsy sent to me. Someone for some reason must reported this bag,

I'm not seeing anything wrong but I can't say it is authentic without more pictures. I'd like to see the made in tag from the inside. I never use price as a sign of authenticity. Maybe she got it as a gift or used it enough that she already got her money's worth.

Fair point. Thank you so much!!

I've been sending PM and ebay sellers on a chase for the made-in tag - often I get the answer that the bag doesn't have any - and some just doesn't respond at all. But I'll definitely try here.
