Last crazy post...does anyone else think about how these vintage Coaches were made? the people that handcrafted them? Maybe one of the three I was so lucky to acquire today saw Bonnie walk by? I am crazy but a good crazy... right?
I like to think about their previous life. Who owned them? What did they do? What adventures did they have? How did they end up where I finally found them?

To be fair (and hopefully @houseof999 will confirm), I think she ended up getting a refund from Poshmark, but NOT because the item was found to be fake, but because they were "doing her a favor" and refunding even though they didn't agree that it was fake.
Ugh yes it was the highly coveted and faked 9955. I never tried to buy that style ever again. The invalid serial number P1L that I'll never forget!

Nothing about previous Coach owners, but Coach published a small book of photos about the original Coach plant in NYC back in the late 1970s. I doubt if Cashin was in it, but the photos show the craftspeople, many from Central and South America, who made the bags and the equipment and skills involved in the process. It might be available through your local library system for US residents, and sometimes a copy shows up on Amazon or with one of their sellers.

I have not purchased from Posh. Not gonna lie, if I stumbled on something amazing, maybe. But since I am not normally on there . . .
Based on the fact that in this thread you have showed honest sellers and honest buyers there get a hard time on Posh, I would rather stick with eBay and online GW, where at least they appear to support the buyer on returns/refunds for a bona fide fake.

I agree completely. Only one "amazing" thing on Poshmark ever caught my eye. It was a style I'd never seen before and still haven't found a name for, but I'm absolutely sure that it's genuine, and I went over the seller's photos literally with a magnifying glass. It's like a larger version of the Willis (something I've always wished for!) but without a top handle, which I never use anyway. And it was RED. I carried it as my Christmas bag over the last week.

A sharp-eyed poster saw a similar bag later in the movie "Anchorman" and asked what it was, and after trying to figure it out it popped into my head that I actually owned one. (Hey, the brain slows down a bit as you get older.) Here are a few posts and a film clip, thanks to Vickenator, Catbird9 and LakeEffect for remembering and posting the original clips.

So my one Posh purchase worked out pretty well, but I'm not going to press my luck!

I bought a fake on eBay and the dispute was so nicely handled that I try to do most of my shopping there. EBay paid the return shipping and refunded what I originally paid for shipping plus the full price for the fake bag. No hassle at all! It was actually a great experience.

Glad to hear that Ebay handled your dispute and refunded you. I was lucky in that regard both times, too.
I thought to use Posh because, well, I was scammed twice on Ebay so I figured that might be the platform most scammers use. I didn't realise that they're just prolific everywhere.
So grateful for this forum and the knowledge shared here! It's saved my bacon.

It's not only some of the sellers on Poshmark who are dishonest; it's the site itself that does nothing to keep a safe site.

Over the years, I've reported hundreds (probably closer to thousands) of fakes to PM using their "report" link and they've NEVER removed a reported listing. Occasionally, an honest seller will end her own listing when informed that an item is fake but that's rare. More likely is that the messenger will be blocked for outing the fake-selling seller!

And in cases where buyers have received fakes and filed disputes, PM's "experts" have denied that items are fake and given scammed buyers a hard time.

As for a particular thread where issues have been discussed, there are many!
This thread has pros and cons. (I've posted cons on it.) Does anyone use Poshmark?

Here's just one post where a member received a fake from a Poshmark seller. Poshmark gave her a hard time, denying that the item was fake, doing her a "favor" by allowing her to send the fake bag to them so their
experts could look at it and even when that happened, their "expert authenticators" didn't think the bag was fake.

Honestly, there are so many posts that it's nearly impossible to find them all!

Oh, and there was even a time when "BeenBurned" was a member there and was tagged to authenticate a bag. Unfortunately, because the dishonest seller didn't like being called out for having a fake, the dishonest site admin decided that BB wasn't allowed to be a member there!

In other words, they supported their dishonest seller over someone who was trying to help.

Truly can't thank you enough for sharing all this information! I'll browse through the threads and educate myself a little more.
It's unbelievable that PM would support scammers in all these little ways, and seem to do nothing at all to prevent fakes being posted. I don't want to support a platform that won't support me when I'm cheated, so I'll stick to Ebay when hunting for discontinued styles.

Crazy here right along with you. I am still a sucker for a NYC bag. There is something about that Creed, indicating some body was working in that loft, being paid a living wage. I never miss an opportunity, whether I am posting or talking about a bag to highlight it was crafted in NYC! I am lucky to have a girlfriend who really enjoys my thrift story telling.

Thanks for reminding me to put that on my list of things to find this year. I also look at the pictures of employees in the vintage catalogs.
