It's genuine and was made in 1996, but we've never found out the official name. "Sherbourne" is one guess but it's JUST a guess. There were several Willis-style bags made in that time period that saw a very limited release or that were discontinued almost as soon as production started and this is one of those styles, along with a similar style 9989 that lacked the dowel on the top and looked like a Station Bag that had been stretched horizontally. There are no catalog records of either or at least none that we've been able to find. My own theory is that they were just too similar to the 9927 Willis and 5130 Station Bag to make it worth producing them. Click on the thumbnails.

WOW, thanks so very much for this information. I appreciate it.

Oop, one more thing I'd like to ask, if you have a chance. After you authenticated, seller uploaded more photos. Don't know if the photo of the bottom of the bag was up already when you took a look. I noticed that the stitching on the bottom of the bag looks like it isn't the straightest. Assuming that's nothing to be concerned about?

(I'm new to the whole vintage Coach thing, and really can't tell issues from non-issues.)

It's not a problem. Coach stitching wasn't perfect as we've said before, and that's a tough part of the bag to get perfect because of the thickness of the various layers of leather.

Read the six Salearea Guides here for more info and insights into classic and vintage Coaches. The Guides start at Post 14 but a bit of their backstory is in the earlier posts:

Comments: is this one of those 2004 bags but with a 1994 creed from the Costa Rican plant right before it closed? I have a red one like this from one month earlier and Hyacinth mentioned it was actually from 2004, not 1994. If that's the case, any thoughts on how this bag will rehab? I know the newer bags don't rehab as well as the vintage bags but 2004 is kind of in the middle of those years, not vintage but not new. I've attached a photo of the creed that I took this morning. Thank you so very much!!

ETA: the bullseye stamp is in EXACTLY the same location on this bag as it is on my red Willis from the same plant and year but one month earlier. Were bags stamped after they failed to sell in retail locations or were they stamped during production and then sent to outlets? I'll have to go back and read about what this bullseye stamp means, I just thought it was curious that I have 2 bags with this stamp in precisely the same location.
