Genuine, probably a Small Shoulder Bag, style 9530 from the early 1980s

Thank you Hyacinth! Let me take a pic of that zipper.

Thanks! I found a few listings for WILLSE zippers, apparently they were a brand from the 30s and 40s so the pull or maybe the entire zipper might also have been a replacement..

and here's a mention of them from a tPF post from last year:

and even better:

Maybe Coach found some old stock in one of their plants and decided to use them up.
Although my pic didn’t catch the detail, I just pulled out my flashlight and confirmed this Rust bag also has a WILLSE pull, as does another I have in the same style in Mocha, NYC with xxx-xxxx reg #.

It looks good.

You can save yourself work. When the listing has pictures, it's not necessary to save and post them.

Hello! First time poster.

I’m looking for authentication on this bag. The ebay posting does have a picture of a receipt - I am not sure if that is enough for this forum (according to the guidelines). I’ve reached out to the seller to provide me with the pictures of the label/tag as mentioned in the first post and am waiting to hear back.

Thanks for any help!

Hoping this helps to authenticate! Screenshot_20190512-151949.jpgScreenshot_20190512-151955.jpgScreenshot_20190512-152003.jpg

Welcome.

You're correct in asking for the picture of the white tag/label. If she says it's not there or if she can't find it, she needs to search deeper into the pocket, possibly turning the zipper pocket inside-out.
Thanks BeenBurned! I've added the picture of the white tag the seller sent me. Hopefully this cma be used to authenticate. [emoji2]

Maybe Coach found some old stock in one of their plants and decided to use them up. If they were used in some Cashin bags they would have been available at least into the early 1960s.

ETA - as for the bag, we've seen a few others like it that seem to be a larger version of the Small Shoulder bag that Lake Effect mentioned which seems like it was a Classic Shoulder Bag 9170 but with a turnlock. Here's her earlier post that she just mentioned down-thread:

Hello Everyone!! Happy Mother's Day!!!

I found an adorable vintage Coach handbag today. Hopefully it is authentic if not I will not be too torn up about it as it was only $2 [emoji38]. The creed and serial number look a bit off to me, but it was too cute and a great deal to pass up the risk.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

What color is the hardware, brass or silver? It almost looks like a combination of the two, and the rivets holding on the handles in the last photo look silver or almost white at least on the inside, maybe it's the lighting. Where did you buy it? And what are the measurements?

It's authentic. It's a soft satchel from the Lightweights collection, made around 1989-1991.

The hardware is gold in color. Yes from the pic it does look silver but in person it is gold. It's the lighting. I bought it from a thrift store. I am unsure of the measurements, but when I get home I'll measure it. I was thrown off by the serial number because the last digit appears to be a 2 and a 3 stamped over top of it [emoji47].

Thank you for your help.
