Dear Authenticators,

Can you please authenticate the following bag?

www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-City-9790-Genuine-Leather-Flap-Vintage-Crossbody-Handbag-Made-In-USA/264307328675
Coach City 9790 Genuine Leather Flap Vintage Crossbody Handbag Made In USA
Seller information

eBay item number:

If this is authentic, can you tell me the name and year of the bag? I do know it isn't a city bag, it's smaller. Thank you

It's a complete fake, the serial number is on our lists here at tPF of Fake Coach Serial Numbers and can also be easily found if you search for it with Google.

Here's just one of the posts here at tPF, which is why the Instructions in Post Number One of this thread state that anyone trying to authenticate a Coach product should search here at tPF first before doing an authenticity check or buying or selling a bag with that number:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/answers-to-authenticity-questions.94198/page-92
and the "last word" here
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/answers-to-authenticity-questions.94198/page-92#post-29180278
"M4N-4154
Update:
Enough evidence has been found to say that the above serial number is ALWAYS FAKE, no exceptions. Not only was the N plant in the US apparently opened only for a very brief time if it was ever opened here at all, but it had apparently closed by the end of 1994 No GENUINE Coach handbag has ever been found with that style number. And EVERY bag we've found that number in not only has serious production mistakes and date irregularities, but so far the creed seems to always have "SCRTCHES" misspelled."

and here's Google:
https://www.google.com/search?q=coach+m4n+4154&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

and here's the first part of the Daria48 Fake Numbers list posted at Ebay UK:
DARIA48 FAKE COACH NUMBERS LIST - EBAY UK SITE, PART 1

https://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Fake-Coach-Serial-Numbers-NT-4903-and-more-/10000000002744619/g.html

"-4154, -9941, and -9956 are style numbers that have appeared in dozens if not hundreds of proven fakes, and Coaches with any of those numbers should always be assumed to be counterfeit. I've never seen any genuine bag with these style numbers."

Take a close look at the word "SCRTCHES" in the creed.
I'm a bit late to this post but have a comment on the seller, jzreel584 . My records on the seller go back at least 3 years and although she does sell authentic Coach also, she doesn't do a great job "self-authenticating."

In fact, in looking at her other listings, I found this one. The lining looks wrong for a Sonoma and the font doesn't look correct for the B plant.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-Coach-Sonoma-4922-Beige-Genuine-Leather-Backpack-Bucket-Handbag-/264263309375?hash=item3d8752183f:g:XzwAAOSwCR9coRGK&nma=true&si=R1KZE2gbI7%2FqXEL4yI4b6utHkH8%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

ETA: I think I answered my own question. Here's an authentic bag from 1996 B plant and there's a huge difference!

Comments: Hi will you please authenticate this bag? I am actually the seller - I bought the bag online carried it once or twice and didn’t like it so sold it on eBay. The buyer is questioning the authenticity and now I am worried I mixed up my brand new bags with an eBay purchase and accidentally sold a counterfeit bag. I don’t see how but if someone could put my mind to rest I would appreciate it greatly. I included pics from the buyer showing a compare with her coach bag. Welcome to TPF!

I looked at your pictures as well as your other listings (completed) and see that you had 2 1941 Saddle bags.

I'm a bit confused by the post here because you showed two different creed pictures, one with SD-20115 and one with a 55036 style number. (The 55036 looks like a white bag. Is that one of the bags you sold or do you have a third?) That creed picture definitely isn't from the oxblood bag in the listing you showed.

If you read post 1, page 1 of this thread, you'll see that there's a comment about post 2014 bags made without serial numbers. (Although not mentioned, it also applies to bags from the 1941 collection that have meaningless serial numbers.) There is another picture needed of a white tag hidden somewhere inside the bag, possibly deep in the zippered pocket.

With that said, did the buyer say why she thinks it's fake? So far, from what I see, there are no red flags but there also aren't enough pictures to authenticate it.

Please read Post Number One of this thread as it says right at the top of every page and supply the required information about the seller, where they're located, and especially a URL or link to the listing and if it's still for sale or whether you already bought it. I completely agree with @Hyacinth but I'll take it a step further and hope that @rho99 will return and let us know where she got that bag and to PLEASE post the listing and seller ID so other buyers can be protected!

About the only things "right" about that bag are that the style number and the style of the bag look similar to what the genuine style should look like.

Please return our favor of helping you by coming back with more information!

Hello! First time poster.

I’m looking for authentication on this bag. The ebay posting does have a picture of a receipt - I am not sure if that is enough for this forum (according to the guidelines). I’ve reached out to the seller to provide me with the pictures of the label/tag as mentioned in the first post and am waiting to hear back.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome.

You're correct in asking for the picture of the white tag/label. If she says it's not there or if she can't find it, she needs to search deeper into the pocket, possibly turning the zipper pocket inside-out.

This is another ID for now-NARU botticelli4grace and absolutelybetterpursedeals.
I also made this post a short time ago.

The creed seems to be the wrong shape, the year (I think) is early and the bag has differences from other bags of the same style.

(Also tagging @noshoepolish on this one.)

The J8D- prefix also has a problem with the underline in "No". In fact the entire creed patch is a mess, it's the wrong shape too. Here's a 1996 version of the same bag, the L indicates it's one of the Cabin Bags that was included with the 1996 Lexus Special Edition, but the shape of the creed patch would have been the same in all the Cabin Bags: And the Cabin Bags wouldn't have been made in the same "D" plant as the handbags!:502 L_ Lexus Special Ed Cabin Bag D6G-502L-b.jpg

Here;s the J8D-0502 creed patch in the fake from seller collectibleonceloved - how could any seller with as much experience selling as many so-called "Coaches" as that seller has think this was a real coach creed?
