For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Great~Thanks much! How can you tell it's made in 2006 or you just know from expertise?
Part of the serial number on the bag indicates when it was made. (Note that just because a bag has a serial number doesn't mean that the bag is authentic. Fakes have serial numbers too.)
D=April
06=2006
E=the plant code for Italy

The Salearea guides have a wealth of information:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/

The serial is H0P-9145 so it's a Legacy Medium Studio Flap made in 2000. It's genuine.

The six Salearea Guides that are in their own thread and are Pinned to the top of each Coach Shopping index page can tell you how to date bags made since 1994 based on the serial number's production codes, assuming the bag is genuine. We strongly recommend reading them carefully, saving the link, and referring to them often. The actual Guides start at Post # 14
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/salearea-guides.983575/

Plant codes are a complicated subject and can chnage over the years, it's best to have one of the authenticators interpret them.

And even if a bag has the "correct" plant, year and month code, that still doesn't prove it's genuine. Don't ever try to authenticate a Coach yourself even with the Guides. They're very helpful in pointing out common signs of fakes, but there is no guide and no specific detail or details that can prove something is genuine.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate all of your help. I was so glad you said this and knew the style name.

Any idea what the original price may have been?

I haven't had any luck finding a price but I'm guessing it was very expensive.

Maybe someone has a catalog with the bag.
I was able to find some references to a listing that (seemingly) was on ebay in 2007. I'm guessing that the bag was poorly listed and described based on the comments. (Be forwarned that the posters aren't fans of the style so don't be insulted.) The bag was listed for $2200.

Post #2 describes the bag in a way that sounds like reptile. And in post 12, the style number is mentioned.
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/limited-coach-back-on-ebay.126994/

ETA: I should have kept reading! Post #33 -- original retail $1750:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/limited-coach-back-on-ebay.126994/page-3#post-2614993

ETA #2: While I'm not a fan (nor do I recommend) Poshmark, here's the same style there:
https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-NATALIE-Python-Hobo-10162-5c377a8bf63eeae01b8ff97f

ETA #3: Some incorrect accusations were made against the seller in both threads!

Thank you~very helpful! It's a beautiful bag. I've always liked the clasic Coach bags & wouldn't normally go for an exotic look, but this bag is unique in that it pulls in the python with the classic vibe...that's my opinion :-)
It was quite pricey for a Coach bag~interesting.
Thanks again BeenBurned! Lol
Me too on LouisV- there's some good fakes out there!

Just read the post on Purse Forum~ some strong feelings about this bag! :-) ha-ha! If they saw it in person & felt the quality, probably appreciate it.
I get it though & I'd certainly never pay $2,000 (was that was the buyer was asking?) Crazy...get this ~ I paid $35 woohoo! I live in Naples, Florida which is an affluent area (& elderly) so some rich lady probably didn't think twice about consigning it for peanuts, or she passed away :-/
Thanks again~have a good day~you made my day! :-)

The photos of the bag on Poshmark are awful & do not do the bag justice! I'd be turned off too if those were the pics on Ebay. Much nicer looking in my photos :-)
Wondering if I should chime in on the Purseforum conversation!
You certainly did your resesrch Beenburned ~ much appreciated

Hi authenticators, would it be possible to get an opinion on this bag? I had a legacy bag once before, which was authenticated ( and did not rehab well at all - it was that crinkly leather ). I'm taking the plunge again with this dirty gal. I have no idea but she might be vachetta?

I believe missing a top handle?

Hoping I can clean her up and touch up the pen marks which I have tried unsuccessfully to clean.

Item: Legacy Willis? Vachetta? E1269 19132 made in China, sized 10" x 10"
Listing: impulse cheapo ebay buy, in my posession
Seller: n/a
Link: n/a

Thank you for your time with this.

Thank you for your time with this.

It looks fine although I would have liked to see the back of the tan leather hangtag, there was a special stamp on the pilot (preproduction) version, which also had a different creed stamp. It was originally called a Poppy Leather New Willis and yours was made in 2012. Since 2011 was Coach's official 75th Anniversary and since yours made in 2012 it probably wouldn't have had the 75th Anniversary stamps.

There's an entire thread about the preproduction version here:
https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/my-pce-willis-natural-picture-heavy.714586/
Some other details may also have changed between the preproduction one made in Fall 2011 and yours which was made in May 2012

You might want to check the posts at the Coach Clubhouse - Rehab and Rescue thread in the main Coach forum for information on cleaning vachetta leather.

Both are genuine. A replacement strap for the first one from a site like Mautto.com should run between 20 and 30 dollars.

I don't think the bag is as ugly as some seemed to believe although between the fragility of python scales and the fact that it's an endangered species, I don't think I'd use one but to each her own.

However, we've said so many times (here and elsewhere) that just because a bag might be ugly and may not look like something Coach would make, it doesn't mean it's not authentic.

As I read those two threads, I could feel my blood pressure rising because although I didn't see the listing or pictures at the time, and having the benefit of seeing your pictures, it sounds as though that seller's account was unfairly dinged with a "trademark/counterfeit" removal. (JMHO)

With that said, in answer to your question of whether you should chime in to the 10 year old conversations, I wouldn't do it. Most of the members in those discussions aren't still posting here and those who are probably don't remember what they were talking about.

The takeaway from that discussion is the discussing is good, opinions (pro and con) are fine but jumping to conclusions can be dangerous.

Again, I am positive that your bag is genuine and you should enjoy your wonderful deal. SHould you ever decide to sell it, you would like recoup your investment several times over!
