Update: I’ve called ebay because now I feel played!!! The listing miraculously disappeared once I posted on here that I thought it was fake. Hopefully ebay will straighten this out because I doubt this seller will respond! Thank you ladies so much!

Thanks for finding those posts, BeenBurned! I'm going to keep doing some digging on this bag - this is the first time I haven't been able to get a definitive answer regarding authenticity. Thank you all for your input, I really appreciate it!!

I knew I had seen that before!

I'm going out on a limb and saying that the two A6B-9016 Berkeley Convertible Backpacks, the one we looked at Saturday with the Outlet stamp and the one with the partial white "FS" stamp discussed back in May 2015 bought by "Thecollector629" are genuine.

Just speculating - Coach apparently made some early versions, either Pilot versions or samples, in January 1996 but the Berkeley line wasn't officially released until the Fall 1996 catalog, by which time they'd probably decided on a re-design of that style. The double strap-and-turnlock opening has to be awkward to get into and was possibly eliminated for that reason, along with a strap redesign.

Whateve's photos show a June 1996 production date for her official production version which means they had 4-5 months to make the necessary changes. Notice too that from the creed photo in Whateve's post here

they used an old and obviously worn creed stamp from the Sonoma line when production resumes after the redesign rather than make a new one. The serial number from the one we discussed back in 2015 has a few very small differences in the serial prefix, but the serial number stamp used in both Whateve's production version and colorguardjames's discontinued early version seem identical and made by the same stamping mechanism. Here are thumbnails of all 3 creeds:

What did ebay tell you?

Tell them that the listing was removed as fake (presumably), seller isn't responding and you want a full refund.

If they aren't willing to issue the refund up front, tell them you want the seller to respond with a prepaid shipping label.

Sometimes once a listing has been removed, you aren't able to open a dispute so you might have to do so through Paypal. If that's the case, open a SNAD (not as described/counterfeit) dispute through PP.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.
