Yep, I was trying to find who or what did the confirming. I thought there was a photo somewhere of a Coach advert pic with the actual style including the buttons, but if there was either i didn't save it or just can't find it.
Little did I know when I asked that this bag was authentic!!
Thank you everyone for your input, have really learned a lot from this thread.

Hello there, can anyone tel me if this bag is authentic?
Item: Station bag

Many thanks!
Please wait for further opinions. I'll post my observations.
  • The creed font looks correct
  • The creed text differs from another station bag made in the same month/year/plant
  • The cartouche differs from the comp
  • I don't know whether Coach used 2 different creeds and texts in April, 1994 in the F factory.
  • I think I see indentations on the underside of the male part of the turnlock closure

I'm interested in others' opinions.

I'm wondering if this is authentic, if the "F" in the creed means it's a factory bag? I thought if that was the case the "F" would be at the beginning of the code?

Thanks again!
No, the "F" in the prefix (D4F) indicates the plant it was made in. If a bag is MFF, it would have an F at the beginning of the style number, after the hyphen.

There are almost NO proveably genuine F plant code bags, and the only one(s) I've seen that I'm almost completely sure about are briefcases and don't match the serial number stamp on this one at all. But there's just not enough evidence to be sure either way other than the probably non--Coach turnlock. While I don't think it should be reported, I don't recommend buying it either.

Sorry, the only thing in my notes is Laurie Flap with a question mark, no catalog references or details other than measurements of 9x6 inches. It's not in either of my late 1997 Holiday or Holiday Preview catalogs which is where I'd expect to find it from the serial number prefix. Both examples I've seen have outlet stamps so it may even have been MFF (Made For Factory stores). Please note that it's a VERY small bag. It seems genuine but other than a few photos of another one that was listed on Ebay I don't have anything to compare it to.
At one time I had two of these and neither had an outlet stamp.

I'm almost positive that creed is wrong. The large "o" in No. and the long underline weren't used by any US plants at the time. The creed is stamped too low. I have 3 or 4 examples of F creeds in my files. All have a very unique font and style, and all were on styles 5356 and 5358, which are both briefcases.
