From the looks of it, it's a version of BC's Over Arm (Sling) Bag design, except in this variation a zippered Thompson-like shield pocket is employed rather than the more common outside coin purse (shown in the Saks advert). I you'd care to see what it (probably) looked like prior to modification, here's a link to a similar one that sold on etsy a while back...

The white fabric "Cashin-Carry for COACH" label usually indicates mid-1960s.
Thank you too...now I have a name for my bag.

I must say it's not my style at all and is awkward to carry. The pebbled leather and the size makes it very heavy too. But, for $30 I couldn't leave it there. It was a huge estate sale over three days and I went each day. This bag had been passed over day after day so on the last day I bought it. lol

Can I get an opinion on this? I am not really doubting authenticity but the strap style. Did that exist in a catalog with a city bag?
Item: City bag
Listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162444731283
Seller: shadow_self73

Not commenting on the straps other than to say she has another with the same one:

In my opinion, the straps on both bags have been modified.

Hi all! I realize this is the authentication thread, but have been lurking a while and want to say 'Hi all' and just want to thank all of you here, especially mods for creating a place that is such an amazing source of on information of all things Coach, but especially the vintage. I have long admired Coach and going back 15 years bought a few. Picked up another a few years ago. I decided last year I want to learn how to give the older girls a deep conditioning and ended up here. Lucky lucky me!! Six months ago I picked up a classic hobo and a convertible clutch with heavy water damage left for dead lol at a flea market for my first learning experiences. I have continued to buy some modest finds and am loving it. And I find people who get why I want to do this yay!! I have a busy work week so I plan by by next week to get pics of my bags uploaded so I can get them authenticated. Okay, I should be working lol, be back when I can : )

Hi, Lake Effect, and welcome to tPF!

Which Great Lake do you live downwind from?

Oh , I wish! I took that pic at a 'girl's vacation' a friend has been hosting for a week in July for many years. A nice little gem, Lewis Lake in north east PA. I am expanding my horizons, lol. I usually use a pic of my cockatiel when I need an avi. Giving him a break!
And btw, Hyacinth, I was dying to know the extent of your collection and I did find out in the other thread ; )

In my opinion, the straps on both bags have been modified.

The straps haven't just been modified, they've been BUTCHERED. And by the same person since they're both drastically chopped down to the same length with the same details even though the seller shadow_self73 is claiming that she "found them that way" and that it's an "interesting strap design".

Interesting my arse. Anyone should be able to see and to figure out that those aren't Coach's strap designs. I wouldn't recommend either the bags OR the seller. Showing photos doesn't excuse not disclosing that kind of drastic modification.

NOT RECOMMENDED!

I figured but just wanted to confirm. Thank you!
