Hello all and happy November!

Just spending a lovely cold, gray and rainy day drinking coffee, making banana bread and playing with Coach bags :amuse:

A couple more for authentication and I can start the cleaning process. TIA!

Item: Coach 9038 Shelbourne Bag?
size: 9" long x 9.5" tall x 3.25" deep with 18"-20.5" strap drop.

Item: Coach Ashley Dotted Op Art Carryall F20049
size: 16.5" x 10" x 4"
Comments: This one has a fair bit of surface dirt and am wondering if it would survive a bath or would the patent leather parts suffer?

Item: Coach pocket purse
Listing number: 261289795104
Seller: eBay, wearforless_7
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-9755-...104?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3cd615de20
Comments: Not sure about this one, from what I read about the codes. The stamp says No H6M 9755, but the creed says "Made in the United States"

Any help would be appreciated!
The M plant was used interchangeably between Costa Rica and the United States. The bag is authentic.

When comparing it to my own pocket purse, this one seems sketchy enough to call it a likely fake IMHO.
The font for the serial doesn't seem right for a US bag (and there's more of a dot than a line under the O in No.) and it's strange that they mention that it's made in the US at the bottom rather than in the creed itself. The leather also looks like it's worn in strange places, but that could be due to however it was stored or what was in there while it was used.
I'd wait for a second opinion, but I'd look for a different one. This purse is one that is common enough that you should have no problem finding one that I would feel more confident saying it's real (and is in better shape too!)
Thanks for helping authenticate. Although we don't want anyone to get stuck with a fake, it isn't fair to a seller to call an authentic bag a likely fake unless you are sure of your information. Of course, we all make mistakes. We aren't allowed to comment on price. Also we aren't supposed to comment on condition, although we tend to break that rule often around here. Still I feel bad for any seller that could have made a sale that we thwarted through our comments. In 1996, some plants were still transitioning to the new style creed with the location included within the body of the creed. You can't compare fonts or creed details between creeds made in different plants or in different years.

Both look fine. I think you could wash the Ashley. Just be careful that you don't bend the patent. I would use cool water.

Oh wow! Thanks everyone. It looked so good. Must remember to check numbers against the fakes list. The listing has been removed. You ladies are awesome!
:dothewave:
You're welcome.

Gosh, Whateve, THANKS so much for not only taking the time to authenticate, but also to make the recommendations! I really appreciate it. :hugs:

Thanks for giving me a good place to start from. My sister isn't picky, BUT, it has to be black and needs to be big enough for her (she's 5'11).
You ladies are so generous with your time and talents and I really appreciate it!
:tpfrox:

And yes, the site is acting funky!
You're welcome. :smile1:

That certainly isn't a valid creed number. Too many digits both before and after the dash and no month code. The numbers after the dash have been used on a lot of fakes. The lining looks really shiny. It looks like it is trying to be a Hampton's flap but a lot of the details are wrong. One thing I have noticed is that the fakes are often bigger than the authentic version.

I am hoping this bag is authentic.

It is 10.5 x 10 x 2.5" Appears to be a Legacy Stroll Tote 9004 but need to make sure. Here are some photos. Purchase is pending authentication. Thank you for any info you can provide.

No offense intended, but to avoid confusion, especially for those who don't visit often, can we please leave authentication to the 'official ' authenticators of this thread, namely Hyacinth, Whateve, BeenBurned and NoShoePolish. The Vintage Coach Photos and Chat thread is a great place to discuss and share opinions.

It's authentic! Congratulations, it's a great find!

ETA: is it camel or yellow?

I don't mind others helping with the authentications as long as they make informed opinions. We all had to start somewhere. I'm glad that no one tried to discourage me when I first started authenticating seriously. (Well, they did stop me the first time I tried, but they were totally justified since I really didn't know what I was talking about!)

Authenticating a Coach based on creed or serial details, fonts or codes isn't a subject where there are easy answers. Our information is based on photos and detailed analysis of the bag itself, and as Whateve has said, creed and serial details have a lot of variations and analyzing them requires a large database of both print and photo information along with the actual construction of the bag. The M plant code in particular is almost impossible to set any firm dates to.

That bag looks genuine to me too.

Thanks, Whateve! I think it's camel. I just love it!
I love mine. It holds more than you would think. I don't use the outside pockets because I don't want to stretch them out. I'd probably use it more if it has a strap.

Great price! I think I remember seeing a red one listed for $400 or $500.
