Thanks, Whateve. There is one in goldenrod out there for $229.99 if anyone is interested. I will settle for camel. I won't use the outside pockets either. My bags usually don't get used more than once or twice. :-)

I'm sure it's authentic but I have no idea about the buttons. I wonder what the seller means by "vintage and contemporary button collection." It almost sounds like the seller added them herself. She is wrong about the date since Bonnie Cashin didn't work for Coach in the 50s.

I've never seen that style with buttons before. Would a highly-respected and skilled professional designer slap heavy buttons all over what's supposed to be an open-weave SILK fabric and risk tearing it to shreds? And for what purpose? And how much would a pile of about 100 buttons that look like they're mostly brass actually weigh?

I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from learning all they can about authenticating.

Perhaps then, anyone who isn't an official authenticator could just state that upfront before imparting their opinion so it's really clear, especially to infrequent visitors.

It's an authentic early Coach style. I'm a little concerned by the hand-sewn area. It almost makes it look like someone could have taken a pocket out of another Coach bag and sewn it into this one.

The colour of the suede appears identical. Maybe someone just didn't like the pocket and cut it out? That, and what looks like ink, really reduces its value IMO.

The first two are genuine - Sonoma Tote Nubuc, Plaza Bag (probably the Large but the seller's measurements don't match either of Coach's)

The third has an always-fake serial number and is a fake style never made by Coach. The strap grommets look silver and the strap buckle is brass.
