I have 2 Coach bags that I would like some info on for a friend. Could I please get the proper bag name and approximate RETAIL price of each, as well as year made available? Thanks in advance.

I agree with thecollector629. There are too many things wrong with it style-wise in my mind. (Snaps on a convertible clutch?! I'm almost positive Coach would never use those. I would think they would use some form of leash clips in this case.) The fonts inside and outside are completely wrong, and if the serial number on the creed is correct it definitely shouldn't say "Leatherware" on the cartouche. I know there is some room for error, but they're usually not this glaring.
Edit to add: They also would never use a rivet on the strap underneath the buckle. In all the bags I've ever seen, it's sewn.

Actually Coach has made some straps like that with snaps. The geometric clutch has straps like that. Some of the Italian Madisons had something similar but the strap went through loops, then snapped to itself instead of to the bag.

The bag in the listing has a number that is on the fakes list M4N-4154. Of course it is fake.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

A bag I gave my sister a long time ago. From a consignment shop in Atlanta, late 90s or 2000.
Monterey Hobo?
Black and the dimensions are (approximately):
12.75" across the top
12" top to bottom (flat)
5.25 side seam to side seam
41.5" strap, end to end.

I would like to get her a similar bag as a gift before she wears this one out. Anyone have a recommendation (or direct me to appropriate thread) on a similar size and shape?

Thanks!
It is a Monterey Hobo. Several items from the Lightweights, Soho, or Manhattan collections would work. I don't know if you would consider anything newer. Most of the newer styles aren't made with this type of leather. TPF is being wonky and won't let me upload photos. A few that I really like are the Whitney 4115 if she doesn't mind a flap, the Soho zip hobo 4161, the Flatiron Hobo 4177. Any of these might be hard to find especially since sellers on ebay often won't use the correct name or style number in their listing title. For newer bags, you could look at the Legacy or Bleecker duffles or the Madison Isabelle, but the leather won't be the same.

I am unsure if this is authentic or not. (I know coach made some red bags at this time, but not sure if this style was one of the ones made in red.
The bag looks fine. Coach made many bags in red. Generally even if we don't know for sure that a bag came in red, if everything else is correct, then it is okay to assume they made it in red. Odder colors need more scrutiny.

I don't know much about the first one. It was made for factory in 2011. It never sold for retail price. I would imagine it originally sold for between $100 and $200.

The second one is a Madison Chainlink Maggie made in 2009. I don't remember the original price. I would guess it was around $350. The earlier fabric op art versions retailed for $358.

Thanks for the advice about the zipper. Darn. Such a beautiful color. I guess I will keep on looking, which is one third the fun. The other 2 thirds are getting the bag and then making it look new again!
You're welcome. The fabric on the zippers of these old bags is going to eventually wear out. It is impossible to know when it will give out. The zipper on that bag might last years longer if you are careful about not getting it caught.

At least half the sellers of this color list it as brown.
Thank you for looking at it. I thought it was probably okay, but it is always helpful to have another opinion. Thank you!!
You're welcome!

Oh wow! Thanks everyone. It looked so good. Must remember to check numbers against the fakes list. The listing has been removed. You ladies are awesome!

Comments: Not sure about this one, from what I read about the codes. The stamp says No H6M 9755, but the creed says "Made in the United States"

Any help would be appreciated!
When comparing it to my own pocket purse, this one seems sketchy enough to call it a likely fake IMHO.
The font for the serial doesn't seem right for a US bag (and there's more of a dot than a line under the O in No.) and it's strange that they mention that it's made in the US at the bottom rather than in the creed itself. The leather also looks like it's worn in strange places, but that could be due to however it was stored or what was in there while it was used.
I'd wait for a second opinion, but I'd look for a different one. This purse is one that is common enough that you should have no problem finding one that I would feel more confident saying it's real (and is in better shape too!)

Gosh, Whateve, THANKS so much for not only taking the time to authenticate, but also to make the recommendations! I really appreciate it. :hugs:

Thanks for giving me a good place to start from. My sister isn't picky, BUT, it has to be black and needs to be big enough for her (she's 5'11).
You ladies are so generous with your time and talents and I really appreciate it!
:tpfrox:

And yes, the site is acting funky!
