LOL! I'd already multi-quoted some of the responses so decided to post anyway even though the seller skicheckmate41 was called on her nonsense explanation of the C71 marking.

I vote that the seller take up fiction writing!

Or get a job in Washington DC in the soon-to-be-formed Federal Bureau Of Alternative Facts. :graucho:

Thank you. Good to know.

Interestingly enough, I noticed on the bag you authenticated that there are two rivets on each strap (versus the one on each strap on the bag I returned ) which makes more sense to me. I love big bags and love to load them with lots of items--water bottles, tablets, etc.

I saw another duffle on another site where the strap only had three grommets. Is that a clear sign of a fake?
I don't recall seeing a duffle sac with only one rivet holding the strap to the bag but I've seen it on other duffle styles. On those I've seen with a single rivet, the attachments often broke. I think that later versions always had two rivets once Coach figured out that made it sturdier. The single rivet often ended up in the middle of a seam, which was a weak point for attachment.

This is exactly where the one rivet was located on each strap in the center and the way the stitching was splitting there, it did not seem an easy/sturdy fix. The bag was older than most I have seen. NYC bag with glued registration number.

Hello- first time here and excited to find this resource! Can I kindly tap into your expertise and ask if you think this Coach Fanny is authentic? The "leatherware" and wording of the creed through me off when matching the date of the serial. Also other coach Fanny packs have different wording referring to travel and durability etc. thanks!!!!

Welcome!

The fanny pack looks fine.

I think they changed the creed sometime after February, 1995 because later months have different wording and cartouche.

This listing shows a bag from a few months earlier in 1994 from the same plant with the same creed and wording with "leatherware" under Coach:

Hello everyone! Another fresh-faced newbie here and I've spent the past few hours glued to my screen -- this place is incredible! And y'all are so skilled, I'm in awe. I'd really appreciate it if any of you could please help this grasshopper (myself) identify and verify the following bags? They're in a local listing app so I don't have links on hand :( Apologies in advance if this isn't enough to go off on!

Welcome.

There's no faux pas but part of the reason we like to see links to where items are being sold is partially to verify that the item we're authenticating is the same item that the seller is selling and the same item you'll receive if you purchase.

I didn't find the source of the first set of pictures but for the other 3 bags, if you found the listings on a local app, whoever listed them seems to have used pictures stolen from a site called TrendTrunk listed by a seller named WawaBB.
https://www.trendtrunk.com/WawaBB
Is this where you're buying the bags or is there another site where you found them?

Thank you!! I see, and will definitely keep that in mind for future. :) And omg yes, that's in fact the exact seller, going by the other listings, and that they have more recent/different pictures for some of the items now... it's a different site from the app I found them on locally but I'm 99% sure it's them.

I don't see red flags but her listings don't have good enough or adequate pictures necessary for authentication.

Please request legible pictures of the creeds so we can read the text and serial numbers (if available). If the creeds don't have serial numbers, please request pictures of the made in tag sewn inside the bag in a lining seam and a picture of another tag (probably deep in the zippered pocket) showing production information.

Thank you, BeenBurned. I would never have noticed the indentations on the turn lock, or the other issues. I don't think the seller is knowingly selling a fake bag. She was quick to send me a clear photo of the creed when I asked ( it was not part of the original listing.) Too bad, because the seller is in Canada so I was hoping to avoid extra shipping and duty charges.

Please wait for further opinions. I'll post my observations.

  • The creed font looks correct
  • The creed text differs from another station bag made in the same month/year/plant
  • The cartouche differs from the comp
  • I don't know whether Coach used 2 different creeds and texts in April, 1994 in the F factory.
  • I think I see indentations on the underside of the male part of the turnlock closure

There are almost NO proveably genuine F plant code bags, and the only one(s) I've seen that I'm almost completely sure about are briefcases and don't match the serial number stamp on this one at all. But there's just not enough evidence to be sure either way other than the probably non--Coach turnlock. While I don't think it should be reported, I don't recommend buying it either.

Thank you, Hyacinth. I won't be bidding on this item. Though I was so tempted before I asked for authentication. I almost made an offer! I thought a black bag would be a nice easy rehab. I'm working on a peanut butter Willis right now (my first real rehab) and I have made such a mess of it. But that's for another forum..

I purchased this Coach Bag at a Thrift Store, measuring apx 9"x9"x2.5" with a 22" strap drop. The creed inside is hard to read, it is made in the United States. I would like to confirm that it is authentic. Thanks
