Please help me authenticate and identify this coach bag. I believe it's from the 90's from the research I did, I think it's a Bonnie cashin bag?
I was gifted this by a coworker who bought it from a sally shop years ago for $5 and wore it daily for years until she noticed the creed stamp, knows I collect coach, & gave it to me. The inside smells heavy like leather still (I love the smell!) it's missing its hangtag.
I don't know the dementions but the creed reads : no. K9S 9958. TIA!

I think I have that same picture of those unique fobs. Didn't that come from a Japanese collection? There were lots of fobs there we didn't recognize and many I wish I could find.

I think the lips covered in crystals look kind of diseased, lol!

Yep, I kept photos of a few of those collections, it's almost painful to compare all those cute and clever styles to the fobs and charms they're making now. Except for the Oil Slick Rexy there hasn't been a single new style in the last year worth spending my money on. Good for the budget, at least, and saves the time and expense of going to the outlets every few months. :-s

I'm not sure where you're doing your research, but probably 80 percent at least of bags sold with the Bonnie Cashin name in the title have NO connection at all to Bonnie Cashin, who ended her affiliation with Coach in NINETEEN SEVENTY-FOUR. While a tiny handful of bags still being made are based on Cashin designs, no bag made after 1974 can be called or considered a Cashin-era bag. Sellers using that name are either uneducated about Coach history or are being deliberately deceptive and trying to inflate the perceived value of their merchandise by claiming a non-existant Cashin connection. And even while Cashin was still designing for Coach - from 1962 to 1974 - not all Coach styles were her designs.

Please don't ever allow yourself to be misled into paying a premium for a bag just because someone claims it's a Cashin. Ask here BEFORE you buy or bid.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but not only isn't the bag you're asking about a Cashin, it's not even a real Coach. The serial number and style number are wrong, among other problems. It's 100 percent counterfeit and is illegal to sell or trade anywhere in the US under Federal law. I strongly suggest you post photos of your other Coach bags here for authentication, and please ask us to take a look before you add any more to your collection. Also, please ignore any information from any so-called "authenticity guides" you may have found on the internet, and use the Coach guides posted at the Ebay link below as a starting point for future decisions:

Style number 9958, the number included in the serial number, belongs to a completely different style. Coach's catalog photo of the genuine style 9958 Pelham Zip from the Spring 1995 catalog is posted above.

Thank you. I thought if it was authentic, does it look burnished as it states? To me it didn't and one more reason I passed on it.

Like I said in my reply, I personally wouldn't call it burnished, but Coach didn't ask me for my opinion. It's always possible that our Chinese friends at that plant didn't understand what the word meant.

One of our vintage posters added more information:

Mahalo for the information! I'll most definitely get the rest of mine up here when I get the chance

Would you please have a look at

I can't read the full text of the description. My iPad cuts off a portion of the right-hand side. It looks like maybe the turn lock has been replaced? Is the bag genuine? Are there other concerns, even if it is authentic?

Here's the description in plain text, hope this helps: It's a genuine City Bag from the mid-1980s, style number 9790. The seller is a trusted tPF member who has a lot of experience and an excellent selling record in classic and vintage Coaches.

I don't see anything that would worry me.
