Thank you!!!
I have the shoulder strap
I think the leather looks pretty good irl considering it sat in it's brown box in storage for years
The leather & construction seem good quality
If you have the original box, keep it. If you ever decide to sell it, collectors go crazy for items that have original boxes.

Hi guys:

I usually just lurk around here but I've been vintage Coach hunting and rehabbing for several years, almost exclusively at local thrift stores. One bag I've had my eye on forever but never came across was a Soho Belted Pouch, but my luck changed last week when one turned up! It was marked at $12.99 and all purses were 40% off so I paid about $8. I didn't want to dunk because I've never rehabbed a Soho leather bag, so I cleaned with baby wipes, Brasso, and Leather CPR. Presenting my Belted Pouch (sitting on top of a pile of J. Crew skirts I also bought the same day).

Looks like it was made in 1997.

Congratulations! You're lucky you got an authentic one since there are a lot of fakes of this style. I have it in blue with silver hardware. It holds a lot more than it appears. Your rehab looks great but you should know that it would probably have survived a dunk just fine. I've dunked many Lightweights and Soho bags. Were extra holes punched in the strap?

Thanks Whateve! I have learned so much from your posts while lurking around here, and have passed on so many fakey looking bags in the thrift store thanks to the hard work you and the other authenticators do. I felt pretty good about this one based on the creed and the bag's details, but glad you think it looks good too. I think I would have dunked it if it had any smell or color loss or reshaping, but I didn't feel like it really needed much. Good to know that the Soho leather can take it though! There were three extra holes punched in the strap, which suits me just fine with how I like to wear it as a shoulder bag. I'm super jealous of your blue one!

whateve, I have the same bag. I need to pull out my older bags and start using them. I think I might buy a glass display, so I can see them.

I bought 2 bags to rehab. I'll do that while on holiday break.

Great finds! I recently rehabbed a Flight Bag too.

It can be hard to tell the difference between Tabac and Putty. Tabac has a slight greenish-brown hue while Putty is more grayish or taupe brown. British Tan is more orangey. These are early 1980s colors:

I just found a made in NYC saddle bag from the late 1970s or early 80s. It is a yellowish color, like squash. In this pic it looks like a saddle color, but it is yellower than that in good light. From pics here I know that one aficionada of NYC bags has the same one. Any ideas of what the color is called? Is it putty? It looks like a Frye color called "banana," almost, although it has faded a good game of course. (Yes, I have the bag on the rehab thread for tips on lifting the ugly glue stain. Not sure anything will work.)

It might be Saddle. In the first picture below are four NYC bags. Three of them look yellowish or light golden tan, nothing like the color of Putty or Tabac bags I have. The fourth bag in the center is British Tan.

In the second picture are Putty and Tabac, side by side with color swatches below.
