Artsy and new canvas issues?

Hi everyone,

First I want to say thank you for all your replies. I had no idea that this would be such an extensive problem with peeling of canvas when I first started this thread in February. I think I owe you all an update on my situation.
After returning my second Artsy in February, I waited for a new shipment to my local LV store, but in the meantime I saw how this problem just evolved in here - not just with Artsy's, but then Totallys and the new Delightful. I have the old model of the Delightful and the canvas is flawless! So I decided to call the whole Artsy thing off until LV themselves realized this problem and did something about it. And that this desicion was the right one, I got confirmed when my SA had talked to Paris and told me that they said there was not a big problem with this (again, this was in February). So I asked him to order me a Soft Lockit, and that I would put my Artsy money in that bag instead. After a couple of weeks the SL came in the store. It was a terrible specimen. That is - I personally did not like the leather of this exact specimen. He was so understanding, and ordered me a new one. After 6 weeks it came in, and It was absolutely gorgeous! My SA told me that there was another woman that wanted the first bag that came in, but since I had ordered it, it was mine. But because I did not want the bag, he had called the woman back again and said she could have it if she still wanted it. He had been honest with her and said what I did not like about it, but she did like it and bought it (we have different expectations as customer, it's not always easy for the SA's...) So what I'm trying to say here is that my experience with Louis Vuitton has been nothing but positive. They take me seriously, there has been no questions at all in this process. We must not forget to hit the ball (LV), and not the person (SA).

I get the impression from some of the replies in here lately that LV now is aware of this problem, and that is good news! But what I'm a bit dissapointed about is that they do not recall these bags from the stores, but continue to sell these bags although they now seem to be aware of it. Well, well...we just have to wait and see.

Artsy in Monogram is to me the prettiest canvas bag ever made by LV, and my heart stops every time I see this bag. I hope they fix the canvas issues, and that I will be able to get a flawless Artsy in my collection some time in the future

I think TPF is a fantastic place to share good and not so good experiences! Thank you all again for your replies to this thread, and let us hope this canvas issue soon will be history.

Thanks for giving us an update. Congrats on your gorgeous SL - I am SO happy for you!!!! I'm also glad that you have a good SA who takes care of you :smile1:

I'm also going to wait until they fix the issue before trying the Arsty again. I ended up getting another bag by a different designer - my HG bag! - and I'm waiting for it to arrive from Saks. It is my one splurge for this year. I will probably also get one of the LV nano bags, but after that I'm going to wait until they resolve the peeling issue before buying another canvas bag. That's currently where I'm at.

Wow, Lovely 1689. I can't believe it that you were banned from LV and received a letter. That is just awful and baffling. I've only exchanged once about 3 weeks ago and when the SA and I inspected the new totally, there was absolutely no peeling. Not sure if I want to go back yet because it doesn't seem like the issue has been resolved and I'm not interested in any other bags.

I just wanted to provide an update that my new totally is peeling again[emoji30]

Oh no! I really want a totally too! My birthday was this past week and hubby said to get it, but I've been hesitant to do so. Hope this stops soon because I have looked at other brands and nothing appeals to me like LV. Did they say anything about the peeling at your LV?

All of guys who are having canvas issues be very careful! After having canvas issues with 4 artsy's LV gave me my money back. Then the next day fed ex delivered me a DO NOT SHOP letter from LV. Which stated that I can longer Visit their stores and they no longer want my business. All because of their own quality issues! I was upset at first but I now could care less I own 15 LV items and I'll be fine with those. I've only made TWO other exchanges before this. So ladies be careful!

Really? Can you post a picture of this letter? Some don't believe it exists.. including me..

I understand about nothing else appealing to you because I feel the same way.
No, I was told that I was the first to alert them of this peeling issue.
I will post pics this evening.

Some gals saw peeling in the store others bought online and the min they took it out of the box they saw the peeling. So it does start right away. I think some just didn't notice the peeling till later.
I agree. The SA and I must have missed it somehow. It must have been somewhere. Anyway, this has multiplied a lot because it is on the bottom and corners.

Sorry to hear that your replacement is peeling....

I think you should bring it back and opt for a store credit. I wouldn't keep a defective bag.

I realize that it is only going to spread and get worse but I would have the same problem with another replacement.
I think I have up to 1 year to exchange it although I wouldn't wait that long.

If I receive store credit, I will be without a bag and who knows how long it will take before they resolve the canvas problem. Do you know how long the store credit is good for?

I would love to receive a refund like Lovely1689 but I wouldn't because although I have the most recent receipt, the original receipt is under someone else's name.

Store credit is the same as cash - it never expires. The manager of my local store confirmed this before.

Have you thought about getting an entirely different style? That might be your best bet. If not, I would still bring it in ASAP and get a store credit until the issue is fixed. Yes, I understand it's a pain going without a bag, but I would never settle on a defective bag, or let it get "worse"...

I mean, it almost sounds like the peeling isn't hugely bothersome to you(?) If that's the case, then I would just keep your bag, use it and enjoy it. More power to you.

Also: LV doesn't have a warranty on their bags. In fact, where is Charleston-Mom? She's very knowledgable on this subject. It is usually left to the discretion of the store manager - and who knows, there could be a turnaround in staff by the time you get around to exchanging it.
