IMO David Yurman pieces are chic and classic and can be worn for years to come without looking trendy. I purchased my first DY ring 2 months ago and I have worn it every day since, and can stop thinking about what my next DY purchase will be!

I find I"m growing out of my Tiffany sterling silver jewlery and gravitating more to DY...

I'm REALLY tempted to buy one or two silver pieces by David Yurman but I've read a few people on here say they think its ridiculously overpriced and not worth it at all.

What are your thoughts? Interested to hear the positives and the negatives in order to make up my mind.

Thanks.

I only have 2 pieces with a third on layaway.
I purchsed the first, 5mm cable cuff with 14k and blue topaz about 6 years ago. I truly adore it. I wear it at least 3 days a week and admire it on myself all the time. LOL....

The second piece was blue topaz, gold & sterling earrings. Again, I really love them.

The piece I have on layaway is another 5mm cable cuff with rhodolite garnets which are a pinky red. Can't wait to get it.

For myself, I think DY is worth the price because I know I wear the few pieces I have a lot. Others might think it is overpriced, but there are things that I think are overpriced too. Is there a place you can check pieces out IRL? When I got my first piece, DY was the last thing on my mind. We were on a trip in Cincinnati and walking back from Tiffany's. We cut through SAKS and out of the corner of my eye, a glow of blue beckoned me! It was the bracelet and as soon as I tried it on my wrist, I had to have it!

Here's a pic of the earrings.

^ I agree with ame. It's not my taste at all but I would never pay that much for labeled silver. I'm over it with Tiffanys and I'm never getting back into it!

I just recently sold old jewelry to a reputable place that I wasn't using from my ex-bf and it's so depressing how little you get back for silver. You could try looking around for quality 'no name' silver pieces and see if they interest you. Granted, I agree in not buying jewelry as an investment, more for loving something, but it still irks me to think of these companies *thickly* lining their pockets with hard earned $$. It's so inflated

Well, the price is extremely inflated, but I do think that it has a distinctive look and quality that you can't replicate easily. I would go for a classic DY piece like a cable bangle or one of his rings. These would retain their value above the melt value because DY will always make them and so people will always want them (if you wanted to sell on eBay for example). I would also avoid diamonds -- I have a few diamond in SS pieces (not DY), and (1) they tarnish under the diamonds which is impossible to clean and (2) the diamonds that they use in any SS jewelry, including designer, are far inferior to those set in gold or platinum.
