I used to hold in high esteem chloe, gucci, prada, LV, balenciaga. then I moved to HK and these brands are everywhere. today I saw a few ladies (strangers) standing next to each other in the subway, carrying identical LV neverfulls! it was so silly I wanted to take a picture, but let it pass. not a day goes by when I don't get bombarded by the LV monogram/checker print, the prada triangle, the b-bag tassels, and the chloe marcie. don't see gucci AS much, but since I went to their shop and had a look, left unimpressed with the quality.

It's the same here in NYC-on the subway platform, you will see gaggles of women, all ages, with the Neverfull. While I understand that it is a practical bag, I cannot help but think they are like sheep, following the exact same trendy style.

Two to three years ago I wanted an Alexander McQueen bag. It seemed that they were selling out right away and were in high demand. People couldn't get enough of the skull clutches. But now I see scads of them on sale for long periods. They aren't moving that fast. Maybe some styles/colors are, but after seeing so many of them on sale, they've lost the allure for me.

Like most in this thread, I've lost interest in Coach. Tired of the signature pattern everywhere I go. I used to like Kors when it first came out, but they lost me when they started doing the LV Speedy knockoff styles. And I see those bags everywhere now too! Kate Spade is losing me too... the bags aren't practical for me anymore and most of them are too small and boxy.

Chanel and LV aren't in my budget, but it does gall me as to how much they charge! Even if I could afford it, I'd feel suckered. Like they're just racking up the prices to see how much people will keep paying.

I can't say I am falling out of love with a certain brand (yet), but I have strayed from a few brands temporarily.

1. Fossil
My first handbag love. I think the quality is wonderful for the price and the designs were always special. But lately the designs have bored me. The recent collections were pretty plain, lovely colors, but the bag shapes were just okay. I was also missing some of the extra pockets and zippers Fossil always included. The use of metal zippers also declined.

Just a few days ago they brought out a new bag that I absolutely love, and that I might get in the future. The hardware and interior seems amazing and the back opens from the top and bottom :graucho:

2. 5th Avenue
My first 5th Avenue bags were amazing, great leather, great style, lots of pockets and lovely interior. But lately Halle Berry has been designing bags that just don't appeal to me as much and many of them are faux leather...Some of the new bags just look cheap. So I haven't bought a bag in over a year...and I used to get these like candy cause they cost practically nothing.

3. Rebecca Minkoff
I still love RM's designs, but with the quality issues they seem to have I plan to experience other brands first. After buying 2 RM bags, one extremely badly made and one rather well made, I'm a bit hesitant about buying right now. Ordering would also be such a hassle. I don't feel comfortable with Ebay and Preloved RM's because of not having a warranty and on top of that long shipping times and dealing with customs. The same goes for buying from a US based site -> customs. So unless a German site carries the RM style I love, I don't think I will buy. There are no stores here that carry RM, so I also won't be able to look at bags before buying.

And a brand I strayed from but returned too...
4. H&M
Yes I buy H&M bags and other cheapie brands occasionally....just as little fun bags for going out, that can get dirty and survive beer spills etc. or for a certain outfit.:p
In the Mid 2000's I hated their designs and the faux leather quality was awful. But since they have been more designer inspired (some may say copy cats) and the bags look more appealing. The faux leather looks much better nowadays. Still not a huge fan of faux leather, but if the design is right I will buy. Some of their bags also have chunky metal zippers, lots of pockets and decent lining. So what I get for the price isn't bad.

Coach. They're attempting to move to the dark side to raising prices "to save the brand" and "keep the riff raff out." Once a company makes alienating loyal customers a known part of their business model, they get not a dime more from me.

You can order Rebecca Minkoff from a European website . I looked up it for you.

Recent Coach bags leave lots to be desired (although I have a Kristin hobo that is great). However, IMO the quality of vintage Coach -- meaning before they moved all production to Asia -- is unsurpassed for the price point. The leather is thick yet buttery, wears like iron and the Italian lines in particular are superb.

Completely lost interest in non-leather LV bags. It took me this long to realize that for the same price, I can get a leather bag from other prestige brands like Balenciaga, Givenchy, Chloe etc.

I personally love non leather LV, my Mono Speedy is so old that she doesn't even want to say how old she is as she is still in great shape...;)
It's true they are expensive but they age so well ....and above all they need no mantainance at all.
Balenciaga, Givenchy, Chloé are wonderful brands and their leather are great quality too.
Wow! I love them all!:smile1:

I have two, 1st being Coach because EVERYONE has Coach. 2. Michael Kors, although I didn't necessary hate it back then, but I didn't really love it either. However, when they released their new print of their new jet set travel tote which is a 99% exact copy of the Damier Ebene print from LV, I just started to dislike the brand a lot. However, I still love their jewelry, watch and shoe line though

Celine is losing me right now. Although I only own one, the Luggage Tote, I just don't have that ohhh, ahhh feeling about it anymore. I don't know why but it has been sitting in the top of my closet in the dustbag for about 6 months now and sometimes I forget I even have it. I don't want to sell it because I made such a fuss with DH on why I just had to have this bag (lol). After carrying for a few months, I was over it. At one time I thought I wanted the Nano but now I don't even fancy that one anymore. Hmmm, maybe it's just a phase. Lately, I have been having a love affair with LV and Chanel. Those two are just so good at luring you in and keeping you there! :p

Funny you say this. I went the opposite way recently. Decided to get my first LV canvas instead of another Bal.
Realized that I needed a good, large canvas bag that I didn't need to worry about, unlike my Bals.

Just got back from Florida and was beyond happy that I had my LV NF. It worked for the beach, shopping, and whenever I needed to carry a crap load of stuff without worrying about what the heat, sun, humidity and even what water would do to the leather.
