perhaps just me? i fell out of love with Prada since they're produced in China and Turkey. i'm done with brands. now i look for bags with high quality at reasonable price. any recommendations? :graucho:

Coach. I used to be such a fan of their Madison and Kristin lines. Now I hate, hate, hate these dang Legacy bags. They are so plain and old lady looking. The leather is dry and porous and feels prone to attracting dirt and cracking. And they are all the same, all leather, slight shape variation and a tassel. Yawn. Even the Poppy and upcoming Madison bags look more plain and like the Legacy style. I used to by a bag every month and have not purchased anything in the full price store since October. I have bought a few bags I missed on ebay etc. I wish Coach would get over this style or keep Legacy if they want but also some other collections. And the Made For Factory replicas of the full price styles is just horrible plan, especially when they keep the names the same. I cannot believe Coach is not losing their shirt, but apparently people are buying the Legacy bags like hot cakes.

I echo your sentiments! Coach was my gateway designer - the first expensive bag I ever bought was a Coach. I haven't gone back in a LONG time though because the bags are just not my style anymore. I really dislike the Poppy collection (way too young for me) and the Legacy is boring. Lately I've just been saving my money so I can splurge on something more exciting :)

Maybe it's my own psychology, but I like the challenge of actually ATTAINING the bag. Once I do, it tends to lose its luster for me. I still love them and use them but it's somewhat anticlimactic. Does that make sense? I remember being so excited when I got my first Coach at 19 (16 years ago). Because, at that time and age, it was a pricey bag. The same went for my LV Cabas Mezzo when I bought it at 29. I keep shooting higher and higher in terms of luxury (i.e. price), but it's really the cat-and-mouse game that keeps me going. I think, for the most part, they've ALL compromised quality and integrity due to popularity and mass production/outsourcing. Even my metallic quilted Chanel wallet (purchased at Neiman's in Vegas 2011,) came with white cardboard inserts in the card slots. Blech!
I love handbags; they've always been my guilty pleasure/"funny money" expenditure. I still love when people stop and ask, "Where did you get that bag? I LOVE it"! The problem is, most bags are ubiquitous now and they're easily identifiable and common. I pretty much stick with the made in Italy: Bottega, YSL, Chloe (some), Fendi, Ferragamo, D&G (I love the wackiness!), Miu Miu (better than Prada, IMO), Christian Dior, and my all-time favorite...Loro Piana. And even out of that list I try to NOT get the "it" bag of the...nano second. :)

Michael Kors... I have never bought anything Kors so I can't really say I was ever in love but wow they bite off of LV like no brand has bit off another.

Their price point is amazing though..

Coach. Everything looks the same. I miss the fun poppy line. The current bags, although pretty, aren't getting me interested in that brand.

Marc by Marc Jacobs nothing interest me for some reason anymore.

Probably Alexander Wang. His bags were my first designer bags (that I could actually afford. I have I think six of his bags) but as time went on, I was able to afford something a little more luxurious. Now I mainly wear my PS11 and Balenciaga most days.

I've fallen out of love with Chloe since the styles have hardly changed over the last couple of years. I used to love Chloe. Although I love YSL bags, I had a major fall out when the company went over to Saint Laurent and thus won't buy Saint Laurent. I'm having a fall out with most mainstream, high-end designer bags since I have been pretty bored to tears with them lately. However, there are some really cool bags from lesser-known, high-end designers that I love; like the gorgeous, royal blue, Italian-leather, Rabeanco backpack that I recently purchased which converts to three different handbag styles.

www.pliniovisona.it
www.abaco-paris.com

Those two brands can be found at www.yoox.com. I have a lot of Abaco bags and they're worth every penny. I also love my Plinio Visona bags which I've bought on ruelala.com and also a recent one on www.yoox.com

Also: www.rabeanco.com I just bought one.

Any time I see a bag on the arms of lots of teens, I know it's the kiss of death for me and I never want to own it again. LV monogram, RM, Kors, Coach and Tory Burch. Just yuk.

I used to hold in high esteem chloe, gucci, prada, LV, balenciaga. then I moved to HK and these brands are everywhere. today I saw a few ladies (strangers) standing next to each other in the subway, carrying identical LV neverfulls! it was so silly I wanted to take a picture, but let it pass. not a day goes by when I don't get bombarded by the LV monogram/checker print, the prada triangle, the b-bag tassels, and the chloe marcie. don't see gucci AS much, but since I went to their shop and had a look, left unimpressed with the quality.
