And maybe it's due to hitting 40 this year, but I'm wanting more practical bags. I have back problems and can't lug a heavy bag anymore. I've pared down as much as I can and still can't get by on a tiny bag-- tiny bags look silly on me since I'm 5'9" and come from a long line of well-set Scottish women!
Nothing in Macy's thrills me. The Kate Spades are not practical for my needs and some of the higher-end designers are just overpriced. I love a label/name as much as anyone but I feel like a chump paying $500 for a bag that likely cost maybe $150 to make, y'know? I hate so many luxe brands are outsourcing to China-- how can they maintain their previous quality? I'd be OK with paying a lot for quality if I knew I was getting what I paid for, and nowadays I don't think I am as much.
That said, I just ordered a Longchamp le Pliage tote (did not pay full price) and hope it'll fit the bill for now. It's so hard to find that balance of quality, affordability and looks.
