I am not brand loyal. I won't buy a bag just because it's by a certain brand. I will only buy something if I like the way it looks, it's functional, I like the material, and I can pay for it in cash (meaning I won't go into debt for a bag, not necessarily that I actually use cash to pay for it).
I mostly have Kate Spade and
Coach bags, but I also have random no name bags. One of my favorite purses ever is a little black leather one I bought at a store near a college campus that sells a bizarre combination of school sweatshirts, shoes, and women's clothing/accessories with a Clinique counter. It was the perfect size, it had some cute embellishments, it was nice leather, and it was $20. I carried that bag every day for five years because it was just perfect for my needs at the time.
If I don't like the way a bag looks, I don't care what the name on it is. But I know that my tastes and what I need from my bag are different from other people's so I might think your bag is fugly but as long as you like it, why do either of us care what the other person thinks?
I don't understand why people care what other people are doing as long as it isn't hurting them. Even if you think my bag is hideous, I'm not making you use it!
I don't get bag snobbery. People choose to spend their money on what's important to them, but that's not the same thing for everyone. I like my purses but I would never spend 5 figures on a Birkin because I'd rather spend that money on other things. But I'm sure there are things I spend my money on that other people would think is just silly. Different strokes and all that! I just don't know why people think "I choose to spend my money on ABC, so anyone who doesn't spend the same amount of money on ABC is beneath me."
