Anti-Coach snobs...ugh

What I can't stand is my local Coach store SA who looks down on Coach outlet bags and the people who wears them. She goes on and on about not having been to the local outlet, rolls her eyes at those of us who stay up late to catch the FOS openings and grudgingly and I mean with a strained grimace, admits some people buy from both the retail store as well as the outlet. Even though some of her co-workers do shifts in both. She kept explaining to me how the computer inventory for Coach store doesn't recognize Coach outlet - I will hate to bring her a FOS item for merchandise credit. Unbelievable.

I never understood why some people look down on Coach Factory bags, this one sales page I went on said we only sell authentic Coach, not Coach Factory Outlet bags??, uhh aren't they still a Coach product?! It doesn't make sense to me.

LOL...I know I've spent too much on MK! I sold a collection I had, then turned around and replenished it, lol. I've been looking at Coach again lately, I had a few bags but sold them, I wish I hadn't though! I recently bought a Kate Spade, another designer who gets little love on here, lol.

lol! Well that's one thing that's pretty universal, I guess--spending all the spare cash on bags!! :p

Someday there will be more MK and Kate Spade for me. I want a Little Minka real bad! Funniest thing is, I've looked at the pricier bags like LV, etc, and I don't actually care for most of the styles that much, which is good, since I can't afford them! hehe! There are one or two that I like, but not enough to mortgage my house for. :roflmfao:

It's definitely not right to look down on people with Coach Factory bags.
But to cast some light on why there is a differentiation, that is because most of the bags at the Coach Factory Outlet are a separate line from the ones at Coach boutique stores. Meaning those Factory Outlet bags have never been available at Coach boutique stores. They are shipped directly from the factory to the outlet, and the prices are marked up and immediately discounted to make them seem like a good deal. And from my observation, they are generally lower quality in material and craftsmanship, and most of them are fabric bags.
A small portion of the bags at the Coach Factory Outlet are the leftovers of the season from Coach boutique stores. But most people who visit the outlet aren't interested in these bags because 1) the retail bags are generally more expensive, and 2) a lot of people are not aware of the difference between Coach boutique products and factory outlet products.

I have two Coach outlet bags which I specifically wanted because they came in a color or style that weren't offered at the regular store. If I like a bag but it doesn't come in a color I like then I won't buy it.

The other bag I bought was originally sold at the store as a laptop bag but was later sold as a diaper bag with more inner compartments. I don't have a kid in diapers but I do love keeping stuff in my bag organized. As a laptop bag, I barely noticed it but when they added the extra pockets, it appealed to me. It looked almost exactly like a leather version of my favorite Lululemon gym bag!

I also love the Kate Spade Wellesley line which is only sold at outlets. They are made of durable leather, they come in fun colors, and many of the designs are very classic. The Elena, Martine, and Quinn are simple with clean lines. I don't care that they've never been sold at the regular KS stores.

I buy what I like regardless of the brand or if it was made for the outlet or whatever. If other people don't like my bags, that's their problem!

The exact same thing happened to me. About 6 months ago I went into a Louis Vuitton boutique for the first time. I hadn't planned on going, I just happened to be near this location and since its about 3 hours from where I live, I decided to drop by. Now this particular store is located in a city with a high-ish crime rate, so I was carrying a generic Hello Kitty bag instead of a designer or brand to be safe.

Well, when I walked in the SA immediately looked me up and down and asked me (quite brusquely) what I wanted. She told me not to touch anything and to ask her if I wanted to see anything. I felt bad and confused since I'd seen pictures here of ladies trying on purses and modeling with them, but I tried to ignore it. Well, the entire time I was there the SA didn't even try to hide the fact that she was straight up following me around the store, like I was going to steal something! I felt uncomfortable and left. I ended up buying a preloved bag a few weeks later. Their loss!

As far as people acting snooty towards coach, I'd much rather be friends with someone who carries a $5 Wal-Mart bag who is polite and kind than someone who carries a $1500 designer purse and uses words like "ratchet" to describe people. I don't care how much your bag costs, money can't buy class or elegance.

LOL. I can't afford them either! I need to cut down on my handbag spending, I don't want to, but should!

Thank you for the response and info. I do know they make different bags for the outlet and the boutiques, I just don't understand why the factory bags weren't considered authentic on that sales page I was on and why
someone would look down on a factory bag. I got a boutique bag at an outlet store, I didn't know until the SA told me. I ended up selling it, wish I hadn't! Thank you again! 😊

I would buy coach leather over anything produced by michael kors and a few other designers. The leather is amazing and smooshy. Plus, the designs are original. Life is too short for me to worry about comments from ignorant strangers.

People are going to hate to make themselves feel superior because they are insecure. It can be a bag, car, the place you live, your hair color. People who judge are the ones who do not have a life. I feel live and let live.

Sorry to hear you were treated so poorly. I have owned LV in the past. I had a Neverfull that carried for years until it got really beat up. I could have easily bought a new one to replace it, but I couldn't justify paying the much higher prices. The Coach bags I have bought recently are just as nicely made as any of the LV products I have owned, and I don't have to put it with ridiculous price increases and snobbery.

I do not care what people think of Coach bags or even no name canvas bags. To me Coach is just timeless. Other brands come and go, and brands like Hermes, LV, Gucci and Prada just stink of money and tacky. I will take Coach over any of those brands anytime. I tried liking those brands, but they only mean status symbols to me, and I care not for status symbols. It is the design that matters, not how expensive it is!

I have found that it seems to be LV buyers / collectors that are the worse offenders (in my reading experience).....and I can't understand what they have to be snobs of. They're paying very big bucks for coated canvas...........which is plastic covered fabric. :yucky:

IDK. They must think since they spend more on their bags than we do on Coach that they're better than we are.

What is so great about LV?! Enlightenment please.
