Anti-Coach snobs...ugh

Actually I've noticed that sometimes the SA in premier brand stores are snobby.
I can't count the number of times I've walked into an LV boutique and been ignored because I was carrying a Coach bag.
I've even been told not to touch anything and to let them know if I wanted to see a bag up close.

That would be an immediate "turn off" for me. I'd spend my money elsewhere. I had an SA at Lord and Taylor once ask me if I was "lost" while browsing the Coach section. I ended up going to a Coach Boutique to make a purchase instead. The first rule of sales is to never assume. Treat every customer like a paying customer.

I would have licked my palm and slapped the side of a bag!

Amen! Sam Walton always wore overalls and drove his older truck. I've know a number of people 'with money' and you would have never known it by looking at them.

:roflmfao:

I think it says more about the person who is judging someone else. I honestly came to this forum to research bags and get info, but some of the comments make me sick to my stomach. I can't believe that people actually use accessories to judge someone's worth.

My aunt (she's my dad's client but I have known her my whole life and she is like an aunt to me) has enough money to buy one of every hermes bag ever created. But she chooses more simple handbags, not coach but in the $300-500 range. She and her husband choose to spend their extra money investing into orphans and sponsoring their education. Because of them, 100s of these children have graduated and become doctors and engineers and others have been awarded amazing opportunities. If some of these women that are judging based on handbags were to judge her, they would classify her as less than them because of what she carries with her, rather than how she carries herself. Everyone has a right to choose how much they want to spend on the things they purchase. But if you need to put other people down to make yourself feel better, then you need to put down the handbag, walk out of the store, and march right to your closest therapist and talk about what is really bothering you.

Lastly, I haven't taken a look at Coach for a long time, but since searching for info about the borough I have spent so much time on this forum that now I think I would like some of the other designs too. If you like a design, it doesn't matter what logo is on the bag, IMO.

I find that this happens more in the boutiques versus the stand alone LV stores. At the LV store I usually go to, I've always had great service and I've never seen anyone receive poor service. That includes this lady who showed up with the most over loved Coach siggy bag and a siggy wallet that was half falling apart (and I thought I didn't change out my wallets very often!). She received excellent service and the SA thanked her for coming in and becoming an LV customer.

My regular SA has commented that they have to treat everyone the same, because you just never know their situation and it's not for the SA to make assumptions. This is the opposite of what I've seen in some of the in store Boutiques. In any event, when a SA ignores a customer and the store isn't busy, that's never a good thing, no matter what store and what brand.

I never knew how snobby people were about handbags until I came on TPF. I'm a Michael Kors fan and we get discriminated against on here too. It's almost like if you don't have an LV or a Chanel, then you are just tacky and have no taste, that's what people think on some of these threads, I've seen some pretty mean comments about people who carry MK and Coach. In real life, I haven't encountered anything yet, MK is popular around here as is Coach. Glad I don't live around some of the snobs on here and if I do I don't know about it and don't care to!

Yes! All of this!

This! I had no idea there were bag snobs until I came here! :D Still don't care either. I like what I like. And I like Coach. I have an MK, too, but I've spent too much money on Coach to have more MK for a bit! Lol! Someday I will have accessory money again! :p

What I can't stand is my local Coach store SA who looks down on Coach outlet bags and the people who wears them. She goes on and on about not having been to the local outlet, rolls her eyes at those of us who stay up late to catch the FOS openings and grudgingly and I mean with a strained grimace, admits some people buy from both the retail store as well as the outlet. Even though some of her co-workers do shifts in both. She kept explaining to me how the computer inventory for Coach store doesn't recognize Coach outlet - I will hate to bring her a FOS item for merchandise credit. Unbelievable.

Same here! I have LV and Coach, Kate Spade, Marc for Marc Jacobs, Tokidoki (Yes, fabric funny bags!!), and handmade items I've picked up at artisan fairs. I buy what I like, what is cute and usable for my lifestyle, and as I've said elsewhere, I'm not afraid to mix pieces. Buy what you love, and will use, I say... if someone has a problem with your purchase, they can buy you a different handbag, lol. :roflmfao:

LOL...I know I've spent too much on MK! I sold a collection I had, then turned around and replenished it, lol. I've been looking at Coach again lately, I had a few bags but sold them, I wish I hadn't though! I recently bought a Kate Spade, another designer who gets little love on here, lol.
