I was wondering about the arrangement of the c's on traditional signature. On all my signature pieces, the pattern always shows two c's facing each other and then two vertical c's facing either up or down. On this listing, the c's follow this pattern except on the bottom:

On a lot of bags Coach doesn't bother lining up the Cs on the base, or care which way the fabric is turned.

On the bag in question, the fabric on the bottom is facing the way it is in order for the Cs to be pointing in the "right" directions as that same piece of fabric turns and runs up the sides of the bag. (I hope that explanation makes sense.) Since it's one piece of fabric that forms the bottom and runs up the sides, it's important for the side view of the pattern to be correct.

Creeds are different depending on the year, plant and style. Don't ever compare creeds of different styles, there's no such thing as a "normal" creed.

Thanks!:smile1:

Another question - is it possible for a creed like this to have a number in the third digit rather than a letter?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-VTG-COA...037?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item19cd77488d
I thought that the third digit was the plant code and that they didn't start using numbers for those until after they started using 2 digit years.
Also, out of curiosity, when did Coach start making dust bags for their purses?
Thanks for satisfying my insatiable curiosity as much as is possible.

Of COURSE it is! You haven't been studying the Salearea Guides! :D

Paragraph 8

I have NO idea when they started using dustbags, sorry.

I did read the Salearea guide before I asked this question but I totally overlooked the part where it said that they started using numbers for plant codes when items were made in China! Sorry and thanks for clearing that up for me!

No problem. It can be a really confusing subject because there were sometimes a lot of changes all happing in a short time period, and some changes were made and completed a lot faster than others. That's why anything ever posted in any "authenticity guide" about serial numbers and how they're formatted is ALWAYS going to be wrong for a whole bumch of genuine bags, things like serials and creeds and hangtags are constantly changing. It took me about 4 years of studying and comparing serial numbers to finally figure out when and how the changes were made, and there are still some things that aren't completely clear. And the Salearea Guides have a lot of information crammed into a small space so it's really too much to absorbe at one time. You need to keep referring to them until you start seeing how things work in Coach's strange little universe.
