When did Coach add the sentence about superior craftsmanship and enduring quality to the creed? My bags from 1997 and 1998 don't have it. This bag from 2000 has it.

I can't remember ever seeing it on a bag this old.

They changed creed wording several times during the 1990s and early 2000s. The "quality" wording was originally longer than it is now and just started to be used as production switched over to China, so I'd say right around 2000. Bags that were still made in the US, Costa Rica, Turkey, etc kept using the older "variations" creed although I've seen a few Chinese creed bags that may or may not be genuine still using the older creed too, even in the classic leathers from the last 6 or 7 years. Like with everything else, there's a lot of inconsistancy.

I guess Coach was - and is - trying to convince buyers that the Chinese-made bags were just as high-quality as the older ones. :graucho:

thank you! Since this bag was made in 2000 in the US, rather than China, would you say that it is unusual that it has the "quality" wording?

Unusual, but not a problem. They may have been due for a new creed stamp anyway and received one of the updated ones.. But if you're worried, just post photos at the Authenticate thread. Remember, the most consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistentcy.

thank goodness for all this info!!!

i got my swingpack today that i ordered from coach factory outlet online and it does not have the creed stamp in it!:shucks: i really love that part about the bags and would have ordered one i saw on ebay that did have this if i had known that they all did not come with the creed. oh well........i still love it. ;) but if i had bought it from a seller on ebay i would have been wondering wether or not it was a fake! good to have this info available.

If you bought from ebay, you could have posted and had it authenticated (preferably before or) after the sale.

As long as you ordered from the invitation-only Factory site you're safe. (I'm just wondering how long it will be before some scammer spoofs that site).

Many smaller bags and accessories don't have creeds or serials. Always have any "designer" bags checked here before buying. And Search the whole tPF Coach forum if there's a specific subject you need information about, there are tens of thousands of posts with a lot of good information here.

yes it was the "invitation only" site so i don't have a problem with it being authentic or not. i only have a few coach handbags/accessories at this point but they ALL have the coach creed/serial numbers in them. even my wristlets and wallets so i just assumed that they included this on all their products!:shrugs: like i said - it is just a feature of the coach products that i love to see and i was disappointed that it was not on the swingpack that i purchased from their site.

thanks. do you know where I can report this replica site? thanks
