Salearea Guides and Daria48 Fake Serial Numbers List - MISSING LINKS

For some reason known only to Ebay, some of the links to about half of these extremely useful Guides have disappeared from Ebay's search systems, even from those members' own Ebay pages. The links themselves still work but there's no way search Ebay to find them. If you use any of these guides, and almost ALL of us might at some time in the future, please SAVE all the links. They can save you money and aggravation. (A few of the Guides do need an update here and there but they're still the most accurate sources of their kind on Ebay). They should also come up in a Google search if you just Search for the poster's name and the title of the guide you need:

Fake Coach Seriel Number Update:

B2A-9960

The latest "hot" ALWAYS FAKE "Coach" serial number, showing up in everything from fake Willises to fake Daypacks, which is what that style number actually belongs to. Not only had the Coach "A" plant, the original New York City plant, been closed for at least 4 years by the date in the bogus February 2002 date code, but there are also incorrect design details in the fakes too.

Pictures of the fake creeds and serials are at the Oct 26, 2017 Authenticate This Coach thread:

It seems that a lot of our Coach lovers are getting into buying classic and vintage Coach leather bags. Most don't have any idea just how common it is to find fakes of older bags. Here are just a few things to watch out for.

1- Fake serial numbers:
Please read the posts earlier in this thread about how Coach serial numbers should look, and the Rules about "Rules" and "Authenticity Guides":
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...henticity-questions-94198-18.html#post6416493

http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...henticity-questions-94198-18.html#post6527257

and also my post listing some of the most commonly-used fake numbers - VERY IMPORTANT!:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...henticity-questions-94198-19.html#post8716549

2- "Stretch-marked" leather
Coach's older creeds mention "Scars, scratches, veins, and wrinkles" but that DOESN'T mean that a leather bag should be covered with stretch marks! These are signs of leather that's been stressed and stretched too much and on real bags the only place you should find stretch marks are areas like the bottom corners of a bag. When there are stretch marks in areas not usually pulled and stretched, that's a big red flag. Fakes makers overstretch their leather to give it the softness and flexibility of a genuine Coach

3- Unusual add-ons and colors
Coach NEVER added outside leather cell phone holders to any of its leather bags. They also seldom made classic leather bags in bright colors - most of their classic and vintage bags will be black, navy, brown, tan, or sometimes bone or dark green. Unusual colors can be a red flag.

Some other warning signs:
"Coach New York" stamped off-center on the front of the bag, too-short serial numbers or NO serial numbers, any bag stamped "Made In Korea", any bag with horizontal lines above AND below every digit of the serial number including the dash, any bag with "Coach" stamped on almost every piece of hardware, misspellings and incorrect punctuation in the creed stamp, etc. There are always going to be exceptions, but even experts still ask other experts to look over a bag before they bid. Always ask at the Authenticate This Coach forum before bidding on a classic or vintage bag. Some fakes especially some Korean-made ones have leather and stitching comparable to a genuine Coach and often the serial number or the creed font is the only thing that can prove they're fake.

Here's a fake that illustrates "stretch marks", a fake cell phone holder AND a fake serial number that's in the Fakes List:
Hi everyone. This is my 1st post hope I'm following the rules ok. I am on Poshmark alot looking at Coach. All styles and ages. I find a number with the fake numbers. I just told one to check the number and she said she did and it was real. Lol it was one of the most faked ones. I looked it up myself or I wouldn' of said anything. (I am a research geek lol especially Coach) it burns me up at some people. I do find all of the information here quite helpful. Thanks.

As a newbie here, you probably haven't read too much but I've posted quite often about how bad Poshmark and many of their members are. I don't do business on PM, wouldn't buy or sell there if it was the last online site and I don't recommend others do business there.

These are just a few of my complaints:
1. After disputes by buyers of fakes, PM disagrees with buyer claiming item is authentic.
2. Accuses sellers of authentic items of listing fakes
(PM doesn't recognize fake or authentic items_)
3. NEVER remove reported listings of fakes.
4. THey ban members who inform sellers that items are fake.
5. When a banned member tries to post, pop up claims that the seller blocked that member, a blatant lie since it was PM who blocked!

oh wow! yes I see alot of things going on that could be easily remedied by better more fair communication there. I love to window shop lol so I spend alot of time looking and asking for better pic and information. Several other reasons why I do that, 1. I am a severe penny pincher. I want the most and best for my money. Thats due to limited spending. 2. I learn alot just by looking up creeds and numbers. I find it fascinating. And since there is no "book" on Coach to look things up easily I learn alot. I have been looking into Coach for over 5 years now and have learned what I think is alot. So much so that some thrift store people actually ask me to look at purses when I go in. I also learn alot from postings here. I have found one person on PM that is as picky about creeds and such as I am. So I do chat with her occasionally.
As for the posting of that fake bag I mentioned above, i went back to triple check and it was gone. No idea what happened. thats twice this week thats happened. First one was "Made in Korea" When I said they never made ones there she thanked me and removed it. She had no idea. Alot post "Authentic" but don't know what a creed is. Disturbing to a Coach nut like me. lol anyway thanks for your reply! Sorry you have been burned so badly. I hesitate EBay but guess I would be better off shopping there.

Doing as much research as you can is always a good idea. But you always have to be careful about where you're getting your information. Many of the so-called "guides" on the internet and even posted at Ebay are full of inaccurate information. And the few that have been thoroughly researched still can't cover all the small details that are so important especially things like dates, fonts and the various codes in Coach serial numbers and whether or not they're valid and agree with each other.

As for shopping, I'd definitely pick Ebay over Poshmark. Bonanza is also pro-active about spotting and removing fakes, unlike Poshmark or Listia. Ebay sometimes gets things wrong accidently or deliberately but at least they've been sued enough times for not taking steps to control and remove fakes that they don't want any more problems.

Thanks Hyacinth, actually I look for information that lists you as a source :) I wish I knew what you know. I do belabor over the details. And can be a real stickler for alot of it. I have also fallen in love with the vintage bags, which makes it even more time consuming. I have a list of bags that I am hoping to acquire to add to my love collection.
My love for Coach started years ago and I guess it was out of envy lol. I knew they were a top tier bag and also knew I couldnt afford a new one. But I kept researching, limited as that was. My one wish (at a time when I was in a bad job situation and low in spirit) was to find a real one at a thrift store. I made that wish and within a few days we found 2 at one store we go to all the time. I of course got out my phone and studied them for almost an hour. Well that was it, I knew they were out there so I had a quest. Now I have 8 and have helped with the lady that runs the boutique know what to look for and where to look online. And this forum is one of the sites I gave her. I of course have had my share of cleaning and rehabing. (which I spent 3 hours in one shot on one bag) I am nuts, but I dont care. I let others know that they too can find them with a bit of time and reading. I do enjoy all of the information you share and find you to be my go to gal. Thank you for all you and the others here do!

WARNING ABOUT EBAY GUIDES

A heads-up for anyone who uses any of the online Guides (hopefully the few accurate ones!) posted at Ebay - Ebay will be deleting ALL the Guides starting NOW so if anyone wants to save them, save them as text or .rtf files on your computers. Saving the URLs won't do you any good once the pages themselves are gone.

From their email:
"eBay is discontinuing guides and will be removing them from the site between now and April 12, 2018. We’re letting you know because it looks like you’ve created at least one guide... Please save your work before guides are removed from the site April 12. Backing them up to your computer is as simple as copying and pasting them into new text documents."

The links to the Daria48 Fakes Lists are in the post right above this one. The link to Salearea's page that includes all the links including two of their own Guides is:
