That is awful. SMH at the judge for allowing this. He/She thinks they know more about someone's mental health than a DOCTOR? They think because someone can form a coherent sentence that means they're perfectly fine? This goes to show you that most people know nothing about how mental illness works and why it's so important to educate people on the matter.

So here we go again then. She will wander around for a few days talking to herself, and then get put back in the hospital. What an idiot the judge is. Of course someone in a mental hospital is going to think they are healthy enough to be on their own. Nobody is going to want to stay in there voluntarily!

I assume the conservatorship is just financial? Does anyone know?

I'm so confused as to how this could have happened. Has the pendulum swung so far the other way that we're afraid to commit people for the amount of time they really need to get better? Amanda is lucky in the sense she doesn't have to worry about money or insurance companies cutting off her stay. Also, how could she be lucid in front of the hearing officer, and then just a few hours later be back to her old behavior on the Sunset Strip? That hearing officer will have a lot to answer for if something bad happens to her.

I don't think any judge was involved with the decision to let her go, it was someone from the psychiatric facility itself, which makes it even worse IMO!

This is really scary. I have a family member who suffers from mental illness. She refuses to take her medication. It started off with her acting "odd" and having severe mood swings, accusing strangers of trying to kill her (ie: she went to a coffee shop, got her coffee, few minutes later started shouting at the barrista claiming how she poisoned her coffee and is trying to kill her) the police were called of course. fast forward a year later, she attacked her father while he was driving and almost caused an accident. She has now become violent and a threat to herself and others and she is now admitted to a hospital luckily. Sorry to bore you with the long story, but my point is, things WILL get worse for Amanda if she does not get the help she needs.

Does anyone remember when she started that fire and her dog was covered in gasoline?!?! The red flags are there. I cant believe she has been let out!!! Is it going to take her harming herself of others for them to realize she NEEDS to be there and seek treatment!!

Amanda Bynes Returns to Twitter, Blasts Her Family and Sam Lutfi

Amanda Bynes is back on Twitter.

The former child star started posting on the social media site from her @amandabynes account again Friday morning, and the erratic Tweets are similar to those she sent before her trips to treatment.

Bynes aimed insults at her family's lawyer, Tamar Arminak ("You are corrupt"), as well as her father and controversial celebrity manager Sam Lutfi ("Sam Lufti is Ugly") in addition to posting nonsensical musings ("I am ug butt"). She also defended her mental state, telling followers she's headed to court today: "I am going to court today with my lawyer to prove that I am more than capable of handling my personal life and finances and I am enraged."

The troubled actress, 28, was released from a psychiatric facility Thursday before being spotted roaming the Sunset Strip, TMZ first reported. "She was sitting alone and talking to herself," a source tells PEOPLE. But "she was really nice and friendly to the staff," adds an onlooker.

Bynes entered the facility Oct. 10 after Lutfi and her parents set a ruse to fly her from New York City to L.A. Her hold in the facility was extended for two weeks Oct. 13, then for a month on Monday – but she was freed following a hearing on Thursday.

The starlet was put under an emergency conservatorship last year following a similar string of strange and dangerous behavior. Since leaving treatment, Bynes had been living with her parents, attending FIDM fashion classes and seemingly on the road to recovery until her September DUI arrest. Her mother, Lynn, obtained another conservatorship in court this week – which gives her control over Amanda's finances and medical decisions, but not her psychiatric treatment.

I doubt very much that her mom is her conservator. What probably happened is that there was a petition to put her on a 30 day T-Con or temporary conservatorship while they applied for a "permanent" 1 year conservatorship. The patient (Amanda) still has due process rights to contest the involuntary hold. First through an administrative hearing at the hospital and if she lost that she can fight the Conservatorship at a trial. I would be willing to bet she won the administrative hearing at the hospital so she can be released. That doesn't necessarily mean she will win her conservatorship trial. The standard is not whether she is mentally ill. Being mentally ill or even mentally ill and unstable and making poor choices isn't enough to take a person's liberty away. The standard is much higher. Whether you think it's good or bad, that's the way the law is written.

Well there is this... but it's just a matter of time, unless/until she gets the help she needs, this will not end well.

Amanda Bynes
just got shut down in court ... and her parents' conservatorship is still in place. The problem is ... they can't control her.

Amanda said she was going to Ventura Court Friday to wage legal war to end the conservatorship ... but the last we saw of her was in Hollywood during lunchtime where she was munching on watermelon.

A lawyer claiming to rep Amanda showed up, but the judge ruled she could not hire him because under the conservatorship she lacked capacity to enter into a binding contract. So the hearing ended even before it began, and the conservatorship stays in place.

Here's the problem. Amanda is roaming the streets of Hollywood and clearly delusional. She has intense dislike for her parents, so they can't control or influence her conduct. It seems it's only a matter of time before she hurts herself or others.

A desperate situation.

Her parents may have control over her finances, but they still can't force her into treatment or get her to take her medication. How long before we see another driveway fire incident? And TMZ will be there to film her demise of course.

This. It's a slippery slope, with lots of gray areas. :(
