I've heard that as well. I actually did a lot of reading about the guy (Dan Schneider) and the things he's allegedly done. It's pretty messed up if it's true. And would definitely explain a lot about Amanda's mental health and her relationship with her parents.

Yeah, I didn't mention his name in case of...I don't know..it is a gossip thread I guess.

You can Google but I'll put it out there. Nickelodeon doesn't have a very good track record...

Martin Weiss A Hollywood manager of child actors who have appeared on Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel was arrested for molesting one of his clients.

Jason Michael Handy, Producer at Nickelodeon Nickelodeon gave him access to child actors on and off the set, and allowed him to exchange email addresses and phone numbers with them. He used the hopes of at least two girls who dreamed of careers in TV to sexually exploit them.

While I believe it happens in any industry, this particular one allows easy access to kids (7th Heaven anyone? Or the Hey Dad scandal here in Australia?). Todd Bridges of Different Strokes claims he was abused. Corey Feldman came out in his later years proclaiming paedophilia was Hollywood's biggest secret. The list goes on and on...

Something to chew on, anyhow..

I doubt very much that her mom is her conservator. What probably happened is that there was a petition to put her on a 30 day T-Con or temporary conservatorship while they applied for a "permanent" 1 year conservatorship. The patient (Amanda) still has due process rights to contest the involuntary hold. First through an administrative hearing at the hospital and if she lost that she can fight the Conservatorship at a trial. I would be willing to bet she won the administrative hearing at the hospital so she can be released. That doesn't necessarily mean she will win her conservatorship trial. The standard is not whether she is mentally ill. Being mentally ill or even mentally ill and unstable and making poor choices isn't enough to take a person's liberty away. The standard is much higher. Whether you think it's good or bad, that's the way the law is written.

Good post. It really is very hard to take away someone's freedom away. I have seen (and not just with Amanda's situation) people immediately want to blame the loved ones, parents, husbands, etc. but getting someone admitted or a conservatorship in place is a very lengthy process as far as the law is concerned.

Ewwwww!!! This is not related to the Amanda Bynes discussion at all, but I used to work for a talent agency back in the early 2000's and we repped kids who had Marty Weiss as their manager. I wasn't sure it was the same guy, until I saw the picture with him wearing the Auryn (a necklace from the movie the Neverending Story). This stuck out, because I remember asking him about it when he visited our office because I was obsessed with the movie. He would come over to our office and decorate for Halloween, and I thought he was just a nice, albeit kinda nerdy, guy.

There was another talent manager who repped one of our actors who went on to be pretty successful. One of the commercial agents let it slip that the manager was a convicted offender, or at least went to trial, but the parents of this kid were still fine with him managing their son's career. Long story short, I would be so wary of getting my child involved in acting, and if I did, I would be on set every day and watch them like a hawk!!

Amanda Bynes Living Off Amex Gift Cards

Amanda Bynes
is paying her bills off of American Express gift cards ... courtesy of her parents ... TMZ has learned.

Since Amanda's release from a psych hospital last week ... she's been roaming West Hollywood, eating out and going to hotels.

Our sources say Amanda's parents are giving her gift cards -- usually $50. We're told on some days her parents will give her up to $100 if she needs the cash.

Amanda has no access to her money ... her parents have control under their temporary conservatorship. The money they're giving her is for living expenses.

The parents deliver the money to Amanda's court-appointed lawyer, who gives her the cards.

We're told the parents are not inviting Amanda back to live with them because they're "burnt out." At this point they feel she needs to hit rock bottom before she realizes she needs serious help.

Amanda Bynes says she is bi-polar and manic-depressive

Amanda Bynes revealed to the Twitter-verse early Tuesday morning that she is bi-polar and manic-depressive.

The declaration likely came as no surprise to those who have followed the "She's the Man" star over the past year.

After a stint in a psychiatric facility this summer, Bynes' troubles rekindled after she got her second DUI on September 28th.

In October, InTouch reported that Bynes told them she was engaged to a 19-year-old named Caleb, who they reported she said works in a "bait shop." InTouch also claimed that Bynes discussed the possibility of having children with Caleb.

"I want boys, for sure. However many I can pop out ... I don't want a gorgeous girl around. Then I [would] feel way jealous. Ew."

Bynes family and friends denied the claims straight away, telling Radar "She's delusional. This is just more proof of her shaky mental state."

Days later, Bynes denied them herself, tweeting that InTouch fabricated the story and threatening to sue any media who spread lies.

Three days later, the former Nickelodeon star ranted on Twitter that she was getting a restraining order against her father because he was abusive and tried to have sex with her when she was a child.

Two hours later, she rescinded her horrific accusations, blaming them on a microchip in her brain that was implanted by her father.

"My dad never did any of those things The [sic] microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me," she claimed.

All of the aforementioned Tweets have since been deleted.

Amanda Bynes' bipolar diagnosis turns murky

Actress Amanda Bynes appeared to tweet Tuesday that she's been diagnosed as bipolar and is on medication, but it wasn't long before that admission became less clear.

Although the initial tweet about Bynes' presumed diagnosis was posted to her verified account early Tuesday, within hours, a separate tweet appeared to dispute it.

"I was at a friends apartment last night and one of my friends tweeted my phone ," the post said. "sorry guys !"

It's the latest in a series of confusing missives from Bynes, who made headlines in October when she turned to Twitter with shocking allegations of abuse. Those posts, which accused her father of verbally, physically and sexually abusing her, have been removed. But the more recent tweets suggesting that Bynes, 28, has been diagnosed as bipolar were still visible on Tuesday.

"I was diagnosed bi - polar and manic depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly so I'm fine," read one of Tuesday's initial tweets.

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, causes intense emotional periods called "mood episodes." These range from manic (extremely happy) to depressive (extremely sad).

The disorder often appears in the late teens or early 20s and can be controlled with medication.

Last month, Bynes was admitted to a Pasadena, California, facility on an involuntary emergency psychiatric hold, not long after she appeared to disavow responsibility for the accusations of abuse.

"My dad never did any of those things," said a tweet on Bynes' account on October 10. "The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me."

Later, a conservatorship hearing was held in which case a judge ruled that her parents will have control over her cash.

"I need to get a restraining order against Sam Lufti," said another tweet posted to Bynes' account Tuesday morning, referring to celebrity manager Sam Lutfi.

Yet another said her parents have limited her cash flow to $50 a day.

"I got discharged for not being gravely disabled," the tweet read. "But i am conserved and my parents only give me $50 dollars a day and it's really annoying. ... I need to get an apartment and my parents won't give me access to any of my funds."

And so goes the latest chapter in Bynes' very public history of odd behavior and criminal charges.

Bynes was arrested on a DUI charge in Sherman Oaks, California, in September. Her arrest report noted a "disheveled appearance."

Bynes was charged with a hit-and-run in 2012, hospitalized for treatment last year after a psychological evaluation and put on probation after a DUI this year.

And she was arrested after allegedly tossing drug paraphernalia out of the window of her New York apartment in May 2013.

The latest episodes of odd behavior come a year after her parents told CNN their daughter was "making great strides towards recovery" from mental illness.

She enrolled into the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles at the start of 2014, but she dropped out in the summer.

People magazine reported in 2012 that Bynes tried to emancipate herself while still a minor, though she never moved out entirely.

Oh thank goodness. . .

Amanda Bynes' parents to 'surrender conservatorship in the next few days and will transfer power over financial matters'

Amanda Bynes' parents currently have legal conservatorship over her finances - but all this is set to change as they reportedly plan to transfer powers to another person.
TMZ report that 'Amanda, 28, will now be under the thumb of a mental health professional who specializes in handling people with severe mental illnesses.
'Her parents will ask the judge to transfer conservatorship powers to that person.'

The site reports: 'They have made arrangements to transfer power over financial matters to another person ... presumably a money manager'
Amanda's mum and dad are believed to be leaving California and will move to Texas to be near their older daughter.
They're said to be hoping that once someone else has control over Amanda's finances, she'll stop lashing out at them and they can have a relationship ... even though it will be long distance.

The star's attorney, David Esquibias told Access Hollywood that he is pushing to have Lynn Bynes still listed as the official conservator but also have a private trust set up to manage his client's material needs and finances overseen by an outside firm.
Esquibias told AH that he hopes to speak with presiding judge as early as Friday, although the next scheduled hearing regarding the conservatorship is not scheduled until February 2015.

'My goal is to get her permanent adequate housing,' Amanda's attorney said.

Don't worry: Amanda reassured fans that she was in good health, and while she deleted many messages, this was not one of them

Meanwhile, Bynes' latest series of Twitter postings included a positive statement that she was doing 'fine' after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
'I was diagnosed bi - polar and manic depressive so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly so I'm fine :D,' the actress shared.
But the following day Amanda claimed that some of the things shared on her social networking page were in fact written by someone else.

'Sorry guys': The actress claimed a friend had tweeted the messages of frustration about her parents being in control of her finances

Although she did not mention which tweets she was referring to, the 28-year-old shared early on Tuesday morning: 'I was at a friends apartment last night and one of my friends tweeted my phone, sorry guys !'
Several posts (although not the one in which she revealed her diagnosis) had been deleted, in which Amanda - who was seen shopping at lingerie store Victoria's Secret that day - voiced her frustrations.
She echoed the same sentiments however with another rant, in which she wrote: 'I'm so mad at my parents. They are with holding my belongings and money from me so I don't have new clothes or enough money to rent an apartment.

'We aren't speaking. So until I get a different conservator ill look terrible because I don't have enough to get new clothes or anything I need.' [sic]
According to TMZ, the Easy A star has been living with three female friends in West Hollywood, including her hairstylist, after it was believed she had been staying in hotels.
Amanda has also been dining in restaurants since her unexpected release from a psychiatric facility last week, and jumped on Twitter following claims that she has been paying for her living expenses using American Express gift cards sent to her by her parents.

In her latest social media rant, which she deleted most of, the disgruntled star claimed that her parents' control over her funds was holding her back from getting settled into a new home

In her previous social media rant, the disgruntled star claimed that she had wrongly been placed in a behavioural centre and revealed that her parents control over her funds was holding her back from getting settled into a new home.
Amanda wrote: 'When a person does one thing wrong it puts me off them forever. He sent me to the Aurora Behavorial Center and I got conserved by my parents.
'I got discharged for not being gravely disabled. But i am conserved and my parents only give me $50 dollars a day and it's really annoying'.
In two posts that remained on her Twitter page on Tuesday, Amanda wrote: 'I need to get an apartment and my parents won't give me access to any of my funds... I'm not living with my parents. I'm not legally obligated to.

'My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and pyshchiatrist weekly then I will get unconserved'.
The former child star dismissed claims that her career was in turmoil as she revealed that she had reportedly been offered a new deal to make music - although later deleted this.
She tweeted: 'I got offered an Interscope recoding deal and I have a lot of options when it comes to working so all of the media lies'.

Back on social media: Amanda has been back on Twitter since her unexpected released from a psychiatric facility last week

Before she then went on to reveal: 'I'm going to school to study psychology'.
Her parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes - who won their bid to retain a conservatorship over the troubled actress last week - have been handing gift cards to their daughter's court-appointed lawyer, who then delivers them to Amanda.

Despite their desire to help their daughter, TMZ claims her parents feel 'burnt out' and have not asked the embattled star to move back in with them.
The site added: 'At this point they feel she needs to hit rock bottom before she realizes she needs serious help.'

Since her release from a psychiatric facility last Thursday, the East A star has been a creature of habit and has dined at the same restaurant on multiple occasions.
The troubled actress was seen grabbing a bite at Mel's Drive-In in West Hollywood where her behaviour was said to be erratic.

Amanda was reportedly chatty with her waiter and was allegedly heard saying that she was shy because she had just had a procedure done on her face which required a bandage.
Following her meal, the actress later attempted to get a room at the exclusive London Hotel. TMZ reports that the She's The Man star demanded a room for the night but was denied by staff - something the embattled actress did not take well.
Sources told the website: 'When she got there she was turned away. Amanda has stayed there before and caused big problems.'
Trying to prove she could pay for the rooms - which start at $299 a night - the actress 'made it rain' dollars - and not gift cards - in the middle of the lobby.
The 28-year-old actress, who was recently arrested for driving under the influence [DUI] and accused of shoplifting, was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital in Pasadena, California last month.

Claims: Amanda accused her father of being a 'sexual predator' following her allegations last month that she was abused by him when she was a child. Her parents vehemently denied the accusations

Her parents quickly released a statement in which they spoke of their devastation at their child's comments.
Her mother Lynne said in a statement: 'I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years. Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for.
'He has never abused Amanda or our other children [Tommy and Julian] physically or sexually. These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth!'
Amanda's parents applied to be her conservators on October 22.

I think it's a great step in the right direction, but it disheartens me that her parents are moving out of state. How is she going to feel once she gets balanced out on meds and no one from her family is around to support her?
