While I agree it can worsen symptoms of mental illness (anxiety, depression & yes, even schizophrenia) I firmly believe it is not the cause of it. If you were going to develop schizophrenia, you would develop it with or without the pot smoking.
But as I said my earlier post, 'some will disagree'!
This is so sad - just get her the help she needs!

Amanda Bynes is off to NYC ... and she is not well.
Amanda was at LAX Thursday night at an airport restaurant, acting bizarre, painting her face with excessive amounts of makeup.
Sources connected to Amanda tell us she was visibly high all day, talking to herself and complaining about her life.
The pics below are from a Thousand Oaks, CA hair salon, where Amanda got a dye job. She was there for several hours -- again acting bizarre -- before heading to the airport.
We believe she is now in NYC.

Amanda Bynes landed in New York City Friday morning with a large Band-Aid across her face.
Bynes was walking through the airport, fussing with her freshly dyed hair with a sweatshirt tied around her waist. The strangest part of her appearance was the huge bandage under her right eye ... covering most of her cheek.
As TMZ first reported, Bynes was spotted at LAX before her Thursday night flight and she was acting very strange. Unclear if she had the bandage in L.A.
People close to Amanda are saying ... before they can take action to get her help, she has to pose a danger to herself or others. It's possible this is a sign of that.

she is a danger to herself and to others, or are her family and friends waiting for something to actually happen to take action?
she has a history of mental illness, smoking pot might have worsened the issue but her parents need to take their heads off the sand and get her back to treatment (and stop pretending this is just weed smoking, it isn't)

unfortunately, once you become an adult there's very little that can be done legally to force you to get treatment. the last time amanda was hospitalized was because she went to some stranger's driveway, with her puppy, and started a fire. her traveling to new york or walking around dressing bizarre isn't enough to get hospitalized. if she's completely off her meds i expect that her episodes this time around will be a bit worse then before. to see this happen again is heartwrenching and that video of amanda's parents being interviewed by x17 is sad. her mom and dad don't seem to have any contact with her and have no clue what's going on with her.

Can someone tell me how she could possibly get a DUI from Adderall?! I mean, this prescription is SOOO common, especially amongst my Pre-Med/Med school peers. EVERYONE has this prescription and nothing about it says anything about not being able to drive while on it. One of my closest friends in prescribed Adderall and takes it daily per her doctor's orders.
Something isn't adding up. She must have been high off of something else because if anything, Adderall makes you more alert and attentive, not loopy/drowsy/unable to pass a sobriety test.

Went to a Doc once, actually an APRN I think regarding some stress problems. First words were 'Here try these happy pills!!!'.
Ummm, nawh, don't think so. Just write me a note for a few days off work so I can relax and regroup, OK? (As I'm looking around the office noting all the notepads, pens, pencils, calendars, stickers, magnets and pretty much everything else with some sort of drug company logo or slogan on it)
'You sure you don't want these drugs? Or maybe these drugs? Or even these?'
Uhh, no, that's OK, I don't even take aspirin regularly.
Waaayyy too many pills being popped these days by people that don't need them.
