No offense, but if it was my daughter, I would also tell the world that she does not have a mental illness due to the stigma it portrays.
I half agree. But it wouldn't be because of a stigma.
It would be because it is nobody's business.

If that's any indication of how their relationship is, the mother may just believe that Amanda is just being rebellious & difficult. She may be refusing to believe Amanda has anything wrong. I think in many cases as the parents get older & the child grows into an adult, the parents don't, or can't see mental illness, as their child has always been "good & well behaved".This is so sad. If her parents won't believe she's ill, she won't have the support she needs from them if she is to have any hope of successfully treating with and managing it.
This is the same mother Amanda said numerous times told her at 5'8 and 135 she was too big and only looked good when she had been very ill and weighed 100lbs. She then spent months trying to get back to 100lbs, before everything spiralled out of control and the conservatorship was granted.
I'm not sure these are the best people to be in her life right now.
Then she's blind. I don't know how she could ignore the arrests, the abuse to animals, the fire setting, the erratic behavior, the multiple personality transformations, etc. . .
Then you would be doing your daughter a disservice just like Amanda's mother did to her. Since when is saving face preferable to doing the right thing by your child, no matter how old they are? I'm not talking about supporting a criminal, I'm talking about supporting someone with an illness.
Exactly.. some may disagree but pot smoking doesn't result in that kind of behavior... she's self medicating for a larger mental issue. Sad. Her parents really should take a page from the Spears family.
And pot can cause mental illness. Say no!
I love how Britney Spears' dad came down to save his child. He did not play.
