Happy Saturday, fellow Islanders!
Every so often a bright young thing comes from outside our County to open a new business.
And just as often their business fails.
Mainly because they were so focused on their vision they neglected to do their homework.
For instance: Why would anyone think a boutique selling upscale baby clothes would be a fit in a County where baby clothes are generally handed down from sibling to sibling rather than buy new ones?
Equally doomed was the gourmet coffee cafe that failed to account for
the competition they faced with the local “gas and go” convenience stores.
However, there was at least one successful start up business that seemed destined for long term success. A small downtown taqueria with hand made tacos and an engaging proprietor….
Who subsequently turned out to be a bail jumper from out of state and subsequently removed from behind the counter in handcuffs.
