Good morning, fellow Islanders! :sunshine:

It’s “Seeing Red” Saturday. :sunnies:

Over the years I’ve owned any number of
red bags. :speedy:

Only to have eventually sold each and every one of them. :cray:

Motivated solely by financial circumstances during those times, the best of my red bags all sold for considerably more than what I’d originally paid for them. :crybaby:

A fitting testament to the inescapable lure of red bags in the heart of bag lovers everywhere.

And I knew even back then that it would only be a matter of time when I would once again succumb to a red bag’s siren call. :borg:

But only if it wouldn’t elicit any interest on the resale market.

So no Dooney or Coach, Brahmin or Patricia Nash. :nono:

Instead it would have to be a lesser known brand (hopefully one with a sentimental attachment) offering quality durable leather, understated hardware, and a
red to die for. :faint:

Which happily I managed to find (ironically) on the preowned market.
My “new to me”
Wilson leather Pelle Studio shoulder bag. :presents:

Not only fitting but exceeding all my criteria, the bag is small but indomitable, easily accommodating all my everyday essentials and very comfortable even on my wonky shoulder.

As for the quality of its leather, before they relocated to another state, Wilson Leather was our “go to” place in WNY for quality leather goods. In fact I still have (and wear) the black leather coat I bought there decades ago. :hbeat:
It’s a classic ! Perfect shape and color!

As you know, I love red bags, Fim. And yours is a gem.
I have never heard of Wilson Leather. Are their bags made in the US?
Not anymore, Mariapia.

Wilson’s Leather became the acquisition of a soulless conglomerate capitalizing on the brand without investing in what had made it so desirable in the first place. :pout:

Which is why I only look for vintage Wilson Leather pieces like my red bag. :search:

Happy Sunday, fellow Islanders! :beach:

It’s Daylight Saving Time. The time of year when we “spring forward” and turn our clocks ahead an hour.

A concept wholly at odds with my two terriers’ internal chronometers.

Regardless of what any stupid clock may say, my two less than benevolent overlords refuse to allow it to affect their schedule in any way.

And should I dare suggest otherwise…

“We can’t even look at you..”

Happy Monday, fellow Islanders!
Somedays you just have to admit defeat. :whiteflag:

Not every bag can be saved.

Case in point:

IMG_6226.jpeg

Purchased preowned, it soon became apparent that it had been a poor choice on my part.

But I was positive that my experience customizing bags in the past would come to my rescue. :police:

Unfortunately, the more I attempted to make up for my poor judgement, the more of a mess I made of the bag. :noggin:

So much so that the only thing left to do was assign it to that big dustbin in the sky.

As for lessons learned… :smartass:

I can’t honestly think of a single one. :roflmfao:

I can’t see what’s wrong with your bag, Fim.:no::no:
Personally, I do like it.
On the other hand, both the design and the olive green are very popular at the moment.
Honestly, you should give your DB a second chance…:yes::yes:

Sadly looks can indeed be deceiving, Mariapia.

From the very beginning the bag did nothing but disappoint. Smaller than expected and with a misaligned zipper that gnawed my hand (despite my best ministrations) the bag’s overall questionable quality eventually led me to seriously question its authenticity.

And that doubt (whether real or imagined) was enough for my decision to destroy the bag rather than perpetuate a possible fraud.

Now that I know everything about your Dooney, I understand why you decided to get rid of it, Fim. I would have done the same, of course.:hugs:

I think you and I both remember when I’d inadvertently bought a fake Kate Spade years ago from my local Thrift Store. :panic:

As I recall, you my friend had actually lost sleep over it, hoping I’d realize I’d been duped before you’d have to break the bad news. :console:

Fortunately by the next morning I’d discovered the error of my ways and the fake bag went into the trash where it rightfully belonged.
