2024 Resolution: Shopping my own Bag and SLG Collection

I. 2024 Year In Review Reflection

Utilize these thought starters to evaluate your collection, your usage patterns and your lessons learned in 2024.

II. Setting 2025 Goals
Take this month to consider what you want to do with your handbag collection, wardrobe or even your beautiful life in 2025. Share these thoughts in January when we start the 2026 Shopping Your Closet thread.

III. End of year optional challenges

• Holiday colors: December has many holidays celebrated across the world - red & green, brown & gold, blue & white and more! Pick the holiday that you want to honor and wear / show off your bags in those traditional colors.

• End with a bang: As we come to the last part of the year, wear the last bag you’ve purchased at least 3 times this month.

Sparkle’s March Stats

Nothing In / Nothing Out as this and next month are about deciding which bags to sell and what, if anything, I want to buy. Happily, this process is going much more easily than I expected!

I’m shocked there are so many bags I’m undecided on given that pre Covid I was very content with my collection. Current status:

• Gucci Navy Mini Dionysus (buy bigger?)
• Dior Panarea Tote (can I have the straps repaired?)
• Fendi Flowerland Tube WOC (Is there a silver small bag / WOC I like better?)
• Fendi Black By The Way (Has absence made the heart grow fonder?)
• Chanel Black Jumbo (is it love?)
• Chanel Red Jumbo (is it love?)
• Chanel Grey Jumbo (is the chain too noisy?)

Today I wore the Jimmy Choo Raven and deeply despised every single minute I carried it. I carefully organized it (including using my double zip organizer) since finding my things has been my issue with the bag. That didn’t help a bit. I checked resale and it’s worth next to nothing. I don’t care. It’s outta here! LOL! Here is the offending culprit lazing about in my cart at Target looking smug and unbothered.
I’m happy every decision so far has been decisive.

Tomorrow I evaluate the Gucci mini navy Dionysus. If I still find it too small, I’m going to list it and immediately buy a pristine one a size up (small) as I love the look of the bag.

We went to Las Vegas and all restraint went out the window. I bought 3 bags and a card case. The bags are my first Ferragamo, Dooney & Bourke and Hammitt, a brand I've never tried before but always admired. The card case is Ferragamo.

When we got home from the trip, I pulled out several bags to sell. A couple sold immediately but one of them is lost in the mail so if it isn't found very soon, I'll be losing money on it. It isn't looking promising. I only have $100 worth of insurance on it, the amount USPS automatically gives you.

Gorgeous new bags, but so annoying they’ve lost the bag you’ve sold …

I have never understood how people lose bags in their collection…

…yet today I stand here unable to find my Fendi By The Way. I’ve looked everywhere. It doesn’t have legs. Where could it have gone???

Maybe it didn’t appreciate my neglect and decided to break out for a new life.

No movement on bags, although I’d like to sell my barely used Laurus Prussia Blue ostrich Geneva bag and buy a larger one, or a crocodile one.

Rtw-3 pieces out, 4 in.

FJ, no movement although I’m looking for a ring to commemorate the life of Tammy, my Siamese girl who passed away in January of renal failure.

Next month I’ll work on my summer wardrobe more..

I love them. You have a green bucket now and it is gorgeous. I love the dooney in that shape and color. The hammitt looks like a fun grab and go bag. I love the cheerful colors. It makes it really feel like spring.

So not much movement in my collection, just some drama in between .

Goals for April:
- Sell another bag, if I find a buyer. The thought of it already stresses me out .
- finishing my course on investing in shares and ETFs (instead of buying handbags)
- Exercise at least 3 times a week

I forgot to put a stake in the ground for April goals. The theme is Spring cleaning (wardrobe pruning and maintenance). Til I properly do that, I won’t feel good about adding items.

Wardrobe Goals
• List 4 bags for sale
• Send Dior Tote & YSL satchel for repair
• Thoroughly clean, condition, etc. all handbags
• Donate or pitch 10 pieces of clothing depending on condition (I’d like to get rid of 50 pieces by year end which will be hard to do since I’m pretty minimalist. But my wardrobe is just not working for me so I want an overhaul.

Interior Design
• Finish painting for powder room
• Complete home gym Hello Kitty makeover
• Finish storage reorganization of holiday ornaments

Personal
• Lose 8 lbs (I gained 25 lbs from meds I had to take Oct - Jan along with an accompanying disregard for anything resembling clean eating over the holidays. I truly did my best imitation of food vacuum as coping mechanism. LOL!)

Sparkle’s White & Cream Bags

• Dior Limited Edition Diorama in eggshell calfskin with gold embroidery and ghw.

This bag taught me I prefer interesting and unique bags over “classics” and “standards”. I need to remember that as I accept my new reality like I rarely wear my Chanel jumbos anymore. Sigh.

I’d love to own a white bag but it seems that’s a very UNpopular color for designers so there is little to nothing ever on offer. I wonder why?

I’d also like to have a pale taupe or beige bag for my wardrobe one day.

This bag is indeed stunning and unique ! I wish I was brave enough to get such an interesting bag. I always tend to buy the classic pieces and then feel meh about them. I am horribly conservative with my choices although I totally prefer the unique pieces.
