December Activities and Challenges - pick and choose as you please.

I. 2024 Year In Review Reflection
(Thanks @Vintage Leather)

Utilize these thought starters to evaluate your collection, your usage patterns and your lessons learned in 2024.
• What is your most useful purse?
• What is your best purchase of the year?
• We’ve all had a lot of lifestyle changes this year - how has it affected your style?
• What is the one thing we’ve learned this year that you want to take into the next?

II. Setting 2025 Goals
Take this month to consider what you want to do with your handbag collection, wardrobe or even your beautiful life in 2025. Share these thoughts in January when we start the 2026 Shopping Your Closet thread.

III. End of year optional challenges

• Holiday colors: December has many holidays celebrated across the world - red & green, brown & gold, blue & white and more! Pick the holiday that you want to honor and wear / show off your bags in those traditional colors.

• End with a bang: As we come to the last part of the year, wear the last bag you’ve purchased at least 3 times this month.

@Vlad please pin this to the top of our thread.

I need to see the bracelet

Bracelets (and necklaces) are great for coordinating with bags without going match matchy. I was wearing teal and dark red the other day and my black bag was a bit 'heavy' or clumsy, but with an enamel bangle that had teal/dark red/mustard and strong blck/whte too, suddenly it all worked.

I have a sunglasses problem too. I almost bought another (SL) pair last week. I have to remind myself, I don't live in the tropics.

Omg I have a sunglasses problem too!
A bit of a goal for me this year is to buy maximum 1 pair of designer sunglasses a year. Or a one-in, one-out policy so I don’t accumulate too many sunglasses.
Even though I live in Southern California, I don’t really spend a lot of time outdoors, and I’m not cool enough to drive around in a convertible lol. (Don’t have one either) And my husband prefers to eat indoors over outdoors. :P

February 2024 stats
bags in 0

SLGs out 3

YTD stats

I've been sick for about the last week so I haven't been doing much, including carrying bags. In February, I sold a scarf and 2 purse charms.

We got the exterior of the house painted. We're waiting for some replacement trim for the exterior before it is complete.
Amazing stats!
I’m sorry you’ve been ill, hopefully you’ll be over it soon!
Cookie, your red, yellow and pink bags are amazing. The yellow Ferragamo makes me smile and your Studio is a gorgeous red.

Your book stats are fantastic! I love Fredrik Backman so I’ll add My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry to my want to read list.
Thank you so much! The yellow Ferragamo makes me smile every time I carry it - it’s like my own personal ray of sunshine and it’s really a perfect bag for me. :sunshine:
Sorry everyone very behind. DH has returned from Germany etc etc etc, thank you for everyone's love and support :hugs:

Feb stats:
Out and in

No bags in or out
Lots of clothes and accessories out.
Lots more ready to go.

I've arranged with a well-known charity shop in central London to do an evening event (sale) completely dedicated to my archive. They've done a special poster and everything  There will be a few bags but mostly vintage. I already sold a couple of vintage beauties last month and I was pleased they made others happy.

Shopping from my own closet (or not)
I've been so lazy, I've not been into changing bags at all. One of the reasons is perhaps I've either been just walking on the beach or park, or when I go out, it's been RAINING and raining and raining. I've had a hundred things to go to or see, so it just seems easier to keep the black Evie on.

Inspiration into practice
The Prada AW24 show. Not usually a Prada fan and usually I'm looking at pieces not styling, but it gave me some styling input. I wore my black Cos shirt over a jersey black slip bordered with lace. Dress buttoned all the way to the top of the neck and undone from the waist so you could see the slip (acting as underskirt). Gucci chain belt (from AW08) H scarf in hair as a hair band and Giles gold-tone bejewelled scorpion, statement necklace. When I wear black I try to do some flame or warm-tone colours. I did plan on my red Box leather Bolide (dinner at Scarf's Hotel on Thurs) but it was pouring with rain Thurs.- so again, I ended-up with black (Clemence) Evie. It's still raining!
Great stats papertiger! I love reading about your outfits - they sound so chic and distinctive!
Sorry to be so late - I have more red bags than all the other colors combined, so I'll be quiet for a while.
My reds:
K28 rouge H box
Ferragamo Studio
Portland leather goods tote
Hermes Cecile clutch rouge H box -- ooh I should wear this tonight to a dinner party
H Kelly wallet
H mini evelyn (newest item) rouge H box
H 35 Trim rouge H chamonix, I think

oops - Forgot the dark red Ghurka overnight bag I've had forever.
:faint:
Beautiful bags! Love the rouge H boxes, such a great red!
(And you know I love that Evie! :giggle:)

What black Evie do you wear in the rain?

Clemence 29 ghw. If I'm wearing an oversized coat/jacket or a fur, it goes on the inside. I've been wearing it as default since I bought it (2019). Everything inside is in a pouch unless in the front picket apart from my rather large bunch of keys.

When using my umbrella, although the outside of the Evie gets wet, being a slim cross-body it doesn't get as wet as say a 37 Bolide using the strap would, plus, I find Clemence indestructible. It's also hard to carry a hand-held only bag (e.g. Plume or GP) with an umbrella - on the umbrella side, so if I carry a Plume it'll get totally wet.

How would you compare your Ferragamo to H?

I may have my eye on a Hug bag (yellow in fine calf) OR a Studio bag (silver mirror finish). Both would not be my ideal. Most Studio Smalls are in stamped leather, but in my SA says I may be able to do a special order (Studio in yellow fine-grain calf) however, that means money up-front and no regrets.

All my H bags are old and most are box or barenia. So I am really spoiled leather-wise.
The Ferragamo Studio is great. Roomy interior, a discreet exterior pocket, plus a matching pouch. The leather is almost H quality (it's smooth, not stamped), but it has black resin, which I don't entirely love. I suppose some of the bright red H bags also have black resin, IDK. I just think it lowers the elegance factor a bit.
And, of course, price difference !!!!

Box is one of the reasons I've bought as many vintage as new. They can tout Tadelakt as a Box alternative all they want but it's not near.

I'm glad to hear the Studio is great. I don't know any red H bag with black resin, even my RH has brown.

I actually prefer Ferragamo's stamped leather to H's Epsom, but as nice as I've seen both on the right bag for the right person, I know that leather's not for me. They're both supposed to indestructible, but for boxy bags (like the Small Studio) the corner-wear will be awful (and non-repairable).

Having just seen H's AW24 catwalk, I may ask what the likelihood is of securing a Volynka Bolide 30 come Autumn. Volynka is also stamped, but it is truly indestructible (tar!) rigid will still show age - but gracefully. Again, the price difference is off the scale.

I must say Ferragamo is doing some lovely bags (and other things) recently.

February stats: I am a little late with stats, but nothing to report in terms of new additions to my bag collection. No major purchases, but I have been picking up small treats for myself here and there to get me through a busy and stressful month.

I am very much in a decluttering mode here. In the process of clearing stuff out for bathroom and closet remodeling, we discovered three boxes of old files full of paperwork that we had forgotten about. Ugh! So now I have the unenviable task of going through them (it's mostly stuff to be thrown.) My clothing situation is in chaos. I have a lot of clothes that don't work for me anymore and will be doing a major clear out soon. I got rid of many jeans recently, especially high-waisted jeans. After struggling with some recent upper GI issues like acidity (still trying to figure out the foods that are problematic), I finally just decided I couldn't wear high rise jeans anymore and have set them aside to be dropped off.

Oh, and I almost forgot: I decided to add some of the bags sitting in my "closet of departing bags" back into my collection. I still have a few sitting there to be donated but most of the others are back in my collection. Here is one of them (carried recently), pictured next to flowers from the grocery store.

I thought maybe Rouge Piment has black resin? Not at all sure, though.
I definitely have a soft spot for all things Ferragamo.
And I agree - epsom is a no no, although this Kelly wallet is epsom. My wallets get tossed around a lot.

I'm sorry to hear about your acidity issues.

I'm glad you kept this bag, it's beautiful, especially pictured siting next to those flowers.

I should have taken a picture of my outfit. Next time I go out I will. Scarf's is a fab hotel. I remember when it was refurbished, I used to live up the the road. It's actually very popular with Americans to stay there, and very busy with dining/drinking lawyers Thurs/Fri.

Thank you! I am a foodie and love spicy, savory meals so it has been a bit of an adjustment.

I have the exact same bag in a dark blue and a light beige (no one ever comments) but this one got two compliments when I wore it out recently. I think people are drawn to the color.
