2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

A couple of pics from last summer…I definitely carry my K32 in rouge H in the summer. I like it with cream/off white dresses too. And last week with denim shorts, white tank top and white Birkenstocks.
This is stunning, thank you for sharing, and thanks to @880 for tagging you. Love the pics, and the chic, summery vibe. This has given me many styling ideas to wear my burgundy bag sooner and not wait until fall/winter.

The thing is, here we are used to four seasons, and associating certain colors with certain seasons, but there are many parts of the world where there are very few seasonal variations, and all colors are worn year round. The key is in the styling, as you demonstrate so perfectly in these pics.

We too have four seasons but, for me, that means that I change the weight of my wardrobe rather than the color. Most of my clothes are black, navy and white/cream and I use my bags and Hermès scarves (CSGMs in winter and silks or twillies in the summer) to provide a pop of color.

While I'm all about rigid control for everyday bags, evening bags are purely for fun. (Not that I have a burning need for evening bags, sigh. At least they're small and easy to store.) I've fallen in love with vintage Rodo bags, as just ridiculous little jewels - and I love the silver leather interiors of most. Mine are all metal so far:

I love the two silver ones (in my head terribly 60s woven metal and terribly 50s abstract clasp) but my baby is The Egg. It's some sort of thick plastic/Bakelite? lined and covered in satin, with the metal-and-rhinestone overlay. It weighs a ton, holds almost nothing, and makes me happy every time I look at it.

ETA: Please excuse the cat hair. I'm thinking of taking up knitting their hair, purely as a defense mechanism.
These are gorgeous!
My metal bags that are more for show than practical - at least I can keep them in other bags. The problem is remembering which little bags I've put in which bigger bags :cray:

Just beautiful!

A recent addition -- this color is somewhere between a dark red and a burgundy. I wasn't sure about the color at first, but it has really grown on me.
I love the colour and the leather looks amazing- congratulations on your new bag!

This is such a good point (changing the weight of the wardrobe, rather than the color), and as someone who appreciates a cohesive, streamlined approach to wardrobe management, you have definitely given me some food for thought. Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!

I only have 1 red bag and I wouldn't consider it a true red either. It's the Valentino Garavani 03 Rose Edition Atelier Round Crossbody Bag in Rosso. Also came in another red color called Cerise but as soon as I saw this shade in the boutique I knew it would perfectly match a pair of Burbury wedge sandals I have. Here's a photo. I do think it would be fun to have a true red bag too.

ETA: Adding photo next to a dress I would consider more of a true red for color comparison.

I am glad you posted the dress because I was thinking the bag and shoes are a true red (to my eyes), but the dress next to the bag and shoes does show the difference in the shades of red. The bag is adorable, and the footwear matches perfectly!
I love the colour and the leather looks amazing- congratulations on your new bag!
Thank you!

Thanks @Purses & Perfumes for the kind compliment, and for giving me some ideas for better cost per wear on my 32K  I posted pics of the red trench, post 3070 in this link
That coat is to die for!

Thank you!

Cute bag, and I love the color! As for the Large Pippa bag, if it's a delicate fabric, it may need to be babied, so that's something to consider. For me, that would be a deterrent, unless I was buying it just for special occasions.

That's interesting to hear. Is it because it doesn't go with your wardrobe/clothing color palette? The only thing that's limiting with burgundy is that it's more of a fall/winter color for me, while true red is a color that I would wear all year.
That is why I haven't purchased it. I have a different Mz that has delicate fabric but I prefer to stay under a certain amount if it is delicate.

I'm not sure why. It probably doesn't go with a lot of my wardrobe. It is definitely a fall/winter color for me. It is darker than most of the colors I use other than black, and black works better when I want something dark.
The burgundy discussion is interesting, because burgundy/dark red are the colours I have to stop myself buying any more of! I have as many dark red bags as tan, and wear them all year in the same way as I do the tan ones. Black is the colour I struggle to use. I think the point about weight of summer clothing is insightful. I think it might also have something to do with our own colouring. I’m a typical winter, which influences my wardrobe choices and therefore the colour of my bags I think.

She is loaded and ready to go. It has an inside slip pocket for me phone. I will wear it like a long shoulder or hand held. It can go Crossbody but I am carrying a heavy art bag today today, so will use both shoulders. Yesterday I used my portabello colored bag from Oliveve. I love the leather from this company. I need to be careful not to go overboard as the colors are very wearable.
