2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

This Savette bag. I know a lot of people will say it is similar to the Kelly pochette, but I am just not a Kelly girl. I don't know why but I find this design much more appealing than the Kelly pochette, lol. They also come in lizard which look beautiful!

I'm still thinking about the Gucci Jackie. Either in white leather or a white canvas version that I tried on in store but is not on the website.

I have an issue with burgundy bags too! I love burgundy and wine red colors but whenever I try it in a bag, I just never reach for them. I tried reds as well and have the same problem, sigh...I just admire from afar now
I Love the saddle leather one. They are all pretty though. As far as red goes , I will wear a burgundy bag but rarely a red one.

I never really thought about having a one-brand capsule collection, but now that I am reading your post, I can see the allure of this collecting strategy. When I started my bag collection, I had intended to have a capsule collection by picking just one favorite bag from each favorite designer, and keeping the total under 10 bags. Well, that strategy has gone by the wayside long ago!

As for the Knot, they are little works of art. I own a gold one and a chain knot in black, which is a little bigger. I am generally not a clutch/hand-carry only person, preferring a slim chain for a shoulder option, but the beauty of my gold knot won me over. The capacity is tight, but my gold knot is my special occasion bag when I know I won't carry much. It sounds like you've found a special one at a good price. I would get it if it were me. I will add that collecting BV knots can become quite an addiction once you get started. I have resisted it several times, but some of them are just exquisite. Good luck!

Some people have the most exquisite and sophisticated Knot collections. It is so tempting to collect those mini 'works of art'. I think I am disciplined enough to stop at just one though - so long as it's THE one :D.

As my H SA always says when I 'um' an 'um' over something that fab "you're right, it's too perfect" LOL

It's interesting to note, I've actually walked away from 2 Hermes HGs I'll probably never find again. I mean, seriously, what are the odds of finding a pre-loved BV HG variation of a bag I drove myself mad over (it was sold out in that colour in London and Milan).

I have natural H Ombre Lizard, so I know all too well. They always yellow, can't be helped. This bag is already over-dyed so at least that won't be an issue, or at least it won't show as much.
It sounds like you are truly obsessed with it. Do you have something else you would let go of to fund it?

BV "Knots" are truly jewels of art in their own special way. The classic satin, the faille as well
as the "limited editions" which are hard to come by & I include the exotics as well.
If I remember correctly BV & tPF did a special order for the Knot in ostrich with an engraved plaque
a number of years ago coordinated by Jburgh (if memory serves me correctly) Loved it!!
Whatever you choose will be "right one" you will be very pleased to have this included in your collections.

I think if I was going to fancy white-tie functions all the time, lots of beautiful colour satin Knots would be a fab. There are plenty of people in London for who that would make sense. I always liked the ltd ed variations or exotics. I would just like something a bit more fun and 'funky' that's equally at home at a neighbour's cocktail party as it would a contemporary wedding. Actually, I have a relative who's decided to have a divorce party soon (I guess, why not?) so maybe it will be a first outing.

I believe it was a purple ostrich Stretch Knot, and it was fabulous. I hadn't been here very long but I remember it well.

I picked up this bag I ordered a little while ago. It is Oliveve in a teal color. So even though I picked up this cutie, I still can’t get the Mz Wallace Large Pippa in Oyster out of my mind. I saw it at Bloomingdales a while ago. It is just a fun funky bag. What stopping me is for the price I could get a leather bag and it is I think a delicate fabric.

The colour is so beautiful!

Thanks @Purses & Perfumes for the kind compliment, and for giving me some ideas for better cost per wear on my 32K  I posted pics of the red trench, post 3070 in this link
Wow!!!!! I adore the coat! Absolutely beautiful! I love coats anyway and red is simply stunning! Che-che-che-cherry bomb!

I'm not convincing you to step into the BV Knot pond, just having an exchange about the "Knot"
A short time ago ( just can't find the post) a tPF'er listed a BV nero galuchat knot with
faceted studs. This knot might fall into the category of something a bit more fun & "funky"
Yep, it was special & many of us delighted to own that particular knot.

I was going to see it tomorrow, but we have blasted annoying rail strikes so it's not possible (I shouldn't say that because I'm on their side this time - trying to cut jobs and services). I'm not going to pay upfront (it would be a direct transfer) without seeing it and checkin it thoroughly first, so I'll have to postpone for a couple of weeks.
