2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

While I'm all about rigid control for everyday bags, evening bags are purely for fun. (Not that I have a burning need for evening bags, sigh. At least they're small and easy to store.) I've fallen in love with vintage Rodo bags, as just ridiculous little jewels - and I love the silver leather interiors of most. Mine are all metal so far:

I love the two silver ones (in my head terribly 60s woven metal and terribly 50s abstract clasp) but my baby is The Egg. It's some sort of thick plastic/Bakelite? lined and covered in satin, with the metal-and-rhinestone overlay. It weighs a ton, holds almost nothing, and makes me happy every time I look at it.

ETA: Please excuse the cat hair. I'm thinking of taking up knitting their hair, purely as a defense mechanism.

These are so so stunning!!!

Since this week does not have a theme, how about you show a bag you are interested in?
Good idea! There are some bags I would love to add to my collection, but at this point, space and lifestyle are two big constraints when it comes to new additions. The space can possibly be overcome by adding additional shelving or storage furniture, but my lifestyle has slowed down post pandemic, and hasn't quite picked up yet. I am not rotating my existing bags as well as I'd like to. Some seasonal colors get used just once or twice a year. That being said, all this doesn't stop me from having a bag wish list in my head, lol. The reissue is one bag that is on that list. The other is a top handle satchel, possibly the Antigona soft (not sure what it's called) in the small size, or something along those lines -- semi-structured, with two top handles, maybe top zip closure, and a shoulder strap.

Thank you @dcooney4, @BowieFan1971, @stacy_natalie, @Cookiefiend, and @baghabitz34 for the compliments on the bag.
@baghabitz34, you have a lovely collection of Ferragamo bags, especially your unique Studio bags.

Agree - stunning! I was in a Ferragamo recently (might have been an outlet store) and noticed that color. I am not typically much of a red person but there were a few styles in that shade that kept catching my eye.
Yes, I'm not much of a red person either (although I have been keeping an eye out for a small bag in a true tomato red shade), and typically prefer darker, burgundy shades. This bag does lean burgundy, especially on cloudy days (which we have a lot of here). For true red, I might eventually get something from Gucci because they make a really nice, true red. A WOC is also a possibility, or maybe a mini reissue if I find the right red shade. I've also considered Chanel and Fendi WOCs, but not entirely convinced due to the small capacity.
