2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

I picked up this bag I ordered a little while ago. It is Oliveve in a teal color. So even though I picked up this cutie, I still can’t get the Mz Wallace Large Pippa in Oyster out of my mind. I saw it at Bloomingdales a while ago. It is just a fun funky bag. What stopping me is for the price I could get a leather bag and it is I think a delicate fabric.

Thank you @dcooney4, @BowieFan1971, @stacy_natalie, @Cookiefiend, and @baghabitz34 for the compliments on the bag.
@baghabitz34, you have a lovely collection of Ferragamo bags, especially your unique Studio bags.

Yes, I'm not much of a red person either (although I have been keeping an eye out for a small bag in a true tomato red shade), and typically prefer darker, burgundy shades. This bag does lean burgundy, especially on cloudy days (which we have a lot of here). For true red, I might eventually get something from Gucci because they make a really nice, true red. A WOC is also a possibility, or maybe a mini reissue if I find the right red shade. I've also considered Chanel and Fendi WOCs, but not entirely convinced due to the small capacity.
While I think burgundy is beautiful I never reach for my burgundy bags. I'm thinking of letting them go. I carry true reds more.

This is adorable!

ETA: I just looked it up. Is it hard to use?

Cute bag, and I love the color! As for the Large Pippa bag, if it's a delicate fabric, it may need to be babied, so that's something to consider. For me, that would be a deterrent, unless I was buying it just for special occasions.

That's interesting to hear. Is it because it doesn't go with your wardrobe/clothing color palette? The only thing that's limiting with burgundy is that it's more of a fall/winter color for me, while true red is a color that I would wear all year.

Agree. I only have one burgundy/Bordeaux bag, and wear it infrequently. I use it mainly in the winter bc it’s a sellier 32K, phw, and the larger size is balanced nicely by heavier coats. I definiteky think it is the size and structure that makes it winter for me. If it were a more relaxed bag, for example, a BV pouch or cabat, or a smaller mini bag, like a loewe mini puzzle, I could perhaps wear it year round, but it would not be easy. True red is a color for a bag that I have never considered. Ive never worn red either, but I just bought a red TRR deadstock leather trench, that I cannot wait to wear, so perhaps I’m branching out.

Pleanty of people wear dark neutrals like black in the summertime. So perhaps burgundy could be worn year round too. The last hurdle for me is hardware. Red tones with ghw signal the winter holidays. Not sure if I can get past that mental hurdle. Would love to see examples to the contrary

ETA: maybe with a matching pedicure and cute sandals, carrying a burgundy or red bag in the summer might be easier lol
Or, paired with light colored denim, white denim, leopard print or nautical stripes. . .
Or, simply think of burgundy as a substitute black for warmer weather

ETA: just tried it as a black substitute with shorts, and summer dresses. It works best with shorts as a foil. IMO

ETA: tagging @tinkerbell68 who I believe posted an action shot somewhere of her rouge H, GHW kelly with denim that looked very summery.

I'm not sure why. It probably doesn't go with a lot of my wardrobe. It is definitely a fall/winter color for me. It is darker than most of the colors I use other than black, and black works better when I want something dark.

I love it! Great color, nice looking leather, unique wearable shape

I LOVE your burgundy/bordeaux bag -- such a beauty! If I had something like that I would probably be tempted to forget about seasons and wear it year-round! I know what you mean about the size being balanced by heavier coats. I feel the same about my dark chocolate Jumbo -- the larger size looks more proportional when worn with heavier coats in winter (although I really love how the chocolate brown color glows in the summer sunshine).

Your red leather trench sounds very chic! Looking forward to seeing pics after you receive it! Interestingly, I've had lots of red clothing -- a red woolen winter coat, red long cardigan, and a short zip up cardigan. There's just something so chic about a red coat! When I wear a red coat, I style it as a statement piece, and let everything else kind of play a supporting role.

ETA: I just saw you added pics to your post and I love all the styling options. The second one (with the skirt with black designs) is particularly my favorite! I actually really like it as a substitute for black. The summery clothing makes it look very on-point for warmer seasons.

Thanks @Purses & Perfumes for the kind compliment, and for giving me some ideas for better cost per wear on my 32K  I posted pics of the red trench, post 3070 in this link

OMG, that coat is stunning! A true statement piece! Looks very chic, and the red color looks great on you. I like that the chest panels are detachable, because that gives you more options to dress up or vary the look. Great find! And I really need to check out that entire RTW thread!

A couple of pics from last summer…I definitely carry my K32 in rouge H in the summer. I like it with cream/off white dresses too. And last week with denim shorts, white tank top and white Birkenstocks.

I only have 1 red bag and I wouldn't consider it a true red either. It's the Valentino Garavani 03 Rose Edition Atelier Round Crossbody Bag in Rosso. Also came in another red color called Cerise but as soon as I saw this shade in the boutique I knew it would perfectly match a pair of Burbury wedge sandals I have. Here's a photo. I do think it would be fun to have a true red bag too.

ETA: Adding photo next to a dress I would consider more of a true red for color comparison.
