Oh I can call online? I had no idea.... does the store count what you buy online as part of your purchase history? Also, does VCA function like Hermes in a sense that if you're in another country they don't see your purchase history?
I'm pretty sure they can see purchase history in US ( mine hasn't been much lately ) not sure about other countries. I called to inquire and the lady said we can add you to waitlist..she said we will call or email you back if one becomes available...BUT yeterday my SA texted me and said he had one for me, I get it on Friday. Like others said, I also think it's not as popular so I hope everyone gets one. I love rose gold so I had to have it.

Why has VCA stopped posting and promoting the HP on their social media/website for 2 years now? The rhodonite HP craze was too much maybe?

Not a regular at VCA here.... but i really like this year's pendant and have asked my friend to ask her store. She has purchase history and was told that all have been allocated but will let her know if they receive more or if anything changes... is there still hope? I'm debating if I should buy from a reseller...

I think they're just trying to create a sense of scarcity and exclusivity. Every text from the SA's I've seen so far refer to the silver obsidian as something along the line of 'we have very limited quantity of this holiday pendant due to rarity of this precious gemstone...' I like this HP and all but their sales tactic is quite silly and unnecessary.

It seems to me that VCA is trying to create an illusion of scarcity, and also save some money by not having to create promotional materials for the HP. I mean, if they can get away with it, I don’t knack them for trying.

I really wouldn’t be worried about getting this year’s pendant. The reception is notably divided and lukewarm. In years when the HP has mass popularity and buyer competition, the attention on this thread and on social media is so much more obvious. I would be willing to bet money that everyone who actually wants this year’s holiday pendant will be able to get one from retail. Using me as an example, I bought 3 of last year’s celadon pendants for my family — which VCA was trying to push as “exclusive,” “VIP,” and “limited.”

Also, I wouldn’t buy the HP for the purpose or expectation of resale. Not every year’s HP has a market. If the stone isn’t popular or you can’t find a buyer, then you’re stuck with an item you won’t wear. The HPs that feature exclusive materials or rare colors are the most coveted. This year’s obsidian is going to be a part of the permanent collection, from what we know. I’ve never resold my VCA before, but I watch the market for secondhand items. I don’t know where the myth comes from that every year’s HP is an investment, or holds its value. It’s really not akin to a Birkin or Kelly — which even for those items do not gain resale value for every size, style, material, or color.

The bullseye pendant was a bit too similar to tigers-eye and letterwood in the market. Similarly, this year’s pendant is a bit too similar to onyx and gray mother-of-pearl. I would only get the 2023 HP if you want a slightly more carefree version of gray mop.

If you’re debating it, I would wait to think it over, since I can already predict this item will be in stores for a long time. I would also weigh the other items on your wishlist and consider your imagined excitement for what next year’s HP will be.

I think this should be the mentality for every year's HP. People should get what they love and don't fall for the scarcity/elusive tactics, or the public's hype. Even if it's not being offered, there'll be more HP's in the following years. Tbh, none of the HP's are that profitable in the prelove market. I was in Japan a few months ago and saw many shops have preloved HP's, included the popular ones like pink porcelain and rhodonite being sold at or below the retail price, other colors are being sold at even lower price point.

Agree! I also think there will be another release closer to Christmas. Many of us expect something BIG like jade, opal, coral, etc. so obsidian was a little disappointing. I also think the "quiet luxury" trend is probably impacting sales this year to a certain clientele. The "VCA is everywhere" thread here is an example of that. Some of the pendants are absolutely gorgeous, but it's a stone that you have to see and then choose between a few pendants to find the perfect one.

Call me cynical but I feel like VCA would probably never use jade as the stone because of the raw material cost, and if they go for a lower quality jade or jadeite, their Asian clients won't be happy about the quality. Last year's HP would've been ideal to be made in jade or aventurine if that's the colorway they were aiming for, but they chose porcelain instead (assuming to control cost and consistency) :hrmm:

I doubt they would use jade or jadeite because it will only remind Asian clients how precious jadeite is and how it's worth much more than the stones that they are using.
Now you have mentioned about this, I would like to get the jadeite ring that I have been eyeing for some time. Good quality jadeite really is very tempting.

Do you think new clients like me without purchase history and relationship with an SA in my current country will be able to get one eventually? I don't want to buy from reseller but it seems that new clients will never have a chance even when they have enough stock in the end

Exactly, lol! I can already hear the Asian clients saying how they can find better quality jade at the night market and that's what my mom would say  You should definitely go for the jadeite ring, I don't think VCA would ever give us the jade pieces that we're looking for without charging an arm and a leg and our first born child.

They can't locate my purchase history because it was too many years ago and in a different country. I haven't purchased anything from my current country yet. It doesn't hurt to ask so they can add you to the the waitlist. Maybe stop by a local boutique one day wearing the some VCA pieces you already own so you don't look as new to the brand? Try to connect with the SA as you try on a few pieces that you're interested in and slip in the HP request. I'm sure the SA will be eager to help knowing you genuinely adore the HP and want to add it to your collection  Every boutique is allocated with different quantity of HP per shipment so inevitably sometimes it's just a waiting game. If your new SA is really proactive, he/she can even initiate a transfer from another boutique that has one. They just released the HP and there's still plenty of time to purchase one, don't lose hope!

Since I am not an expert when it comes to jade or jadeite, I usually purchase it in jewellery stores with good reputation and the pieces need to have a certificate from a lab stating the details. That way, I have an idea what I am paying for.
But if you know how to recognise genuine jade vs fake ones, then you can basically shop everywhere lol.

Having said that, I still like some of the stones that vca is using. I believe in different healing properties of different stones .

I started purchasing from a new SA at VCA last month, my lifetime spend probably around $6-7K USD. I inquired about the HP 2 weeks ago and was told then that my SA didn't know any details about it yet and that it is extremely limited.

I was due to pick up a chain modification for my zodiac pendant today and my SA said he had a surprise for me. I kinda had a feeling that it was the HP since that's the only other piece I've inquired about, but was still a surprise since it seems like it really depends on your boutique on whether it gets offered to only VIPs or also new clients based on the responses in this thread so far?

Anyway here are my pics! :)

I’m extremely new to VCA, so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before or is common knowledge in the VCA community.

Is the HP the VCA equivalent of Hermes QBs? Is a purchase history absolutely necessary to buy one? Are they ever available online?

I haven’t purchased any VCA pieces previously, and am only interested in this year’s HP, is the most viable option at this point just to wait for it to show up on the resale market?
