I’m so upset. I have two handbag tragedies to report.

1) I accepted the offer on the Celine. Then the person backed out of the transaction.

2) I found a bag I REALLY wanted on Friday. But, I wanted to be sure. I went back today to get it and it sold.

I can’t even.

I need to take to my bed. :crybaby:
OMG! This is just bad! :(
i'm so sorry for you!! :hugs:

Oh good grief, that Celine is clinging to you  honestly, if it were my bag, I think after all this I’d donate just to have it gone from my life. And frustrating to lose out on an auction too - glass of wine required! :wtf:

Oh that's terrible! I saw something I thought I wanted the other night right before bed. I thought I would sleep on it, but I couldn't sleep, thinking about it. I got up at 2 am and bought it. I'm waiting to see if the seller ships.

A few weeks ago I found a bag I was going to buy. The seller had listed it several times, lowering the price every time, so right before I was going to buy I decided to wait for either an ebay coupon or for the seller to relist. When it was relisted, it was priced 35% higher!! I even contacted the seller and told them I would buy at the previous price and they said they had no control over it! Now it has been relisted several times with lower prices. It still has quite a ways to go before it gets back down to the price I will pay. Now there is another seller with a similar bag that is cheaper than the current price on the bag I want, but the similar bag isn't really the color I want. I can't decide if I should get that one because the one I want may never get to the price I want or may sell to someone else before it does.
I don’t quite understand this - why can’t she change the price or cancel and relist it at the price you’re willing to pay?

It's a Japanese seller, one of the big ones, so probably the person who answers the questions isn't the same person who prices it. I think she was trying to say it was due to exchange rates, but the dollar didn't drop in value 35% compared to the yen in a few days. I felt I was getting the brushoff and I should probably look elsewhere, but I haven't found this style at a good price anywhere else, except for the one that is another color. Maybe I should get that one. The seller is in the US. But it's brown, and the Japanese seller has black, which I know I would use more.

Here's how I personally would look at this - don't settle.
Don't get the brown if it's the black you really want.

Oh I see. Hold out for black if that’s the one you really want though

That's terrible - both your buyer backing out (nasty) and then losing the bag you really wanted! (What was it?!? Curious as a cat over here!)
Like @Pessie - I think I'd give up on that Celine. I'd hustle that bag into the donation pile right away. It's caused you enough grief! I know you don't want to lose so much money on it, but it's like a thorn in your side, a pebble in your shoe, it's giving you the side eye!! It's winning!!! Don't let it! :giggle: :panic: :giggle:

I’m the same way. I hate trying things on in the store. I love Zappos because shipping is fast and returns are so easy. But sometimes you just have to suck it up and go to a store.

It occurs to me that my attitude towards shopping for clothes is the complete opposite of my attitude toward shopping for accessories. When it comes to bags, scarves, and jewelry, I love trying things on and playing with them! :P
Bags and jewelry I prefer to try on in store too.

can you just gift it?? to someone who you know would appreciate it and USE it
I don’t know anyone who wants it. My DD has always hated it. My friends dress fairly simply so a snakeskin structured satchel isn’t their style. So, I dunno.

I completely agree.

I’m so sick of the Celine. I can’t see why it won’t sell at some price. But lesson learned. I’ll never buy a Celine again. Low resale is one thing. No resale is another.

It was a black studded Diorama WOC with black hardware. I’m just gutted that I don’t buy it when I saw it. Mr. S. is just shaking his head and taking far too much pleasure in fussing about my (in his mind overly) frugal ways. :hrmm: He reminded my birthday is next month and I still haven’t given him a list so that could have been one of my presents. Sign.

Are you NOW willing to experiment and list it as an auction with $1 start price? I just did that with two bags that ended up going for the amounts I had hoped they would when I started them at a dollar. Just try it, what do you have to lose at this point?

I am sorry this happened. Hopefully another buyer will come along soon. Maybe a better bag will show up soon and would have made you regret buying that WOC. At least I hope so.

Good that I've written here how many bags I was going to list. Otherwise, I'd have listed none of them. Now three is up for sale and took altogether half day including both taking and phoshoping pics + desciption.

1) Then the person backed out of the transaction.
2) I went back today to get it and it sold.
1) Can you relist for the price you accepted or sell to Fashionphile?
2) Everything happens for reason. It might have been fake and you've saved yourself from all the hassle.

When it was relisted, it was priced 35% higher!!
I tend to ask lower prices when I've more spare time to spend but rise the prices when I'm super busy because then every sale takes extra hard effort.
