Sell! Like you said, you no longer like or want this bag, to the point where you’re sick of looking at it and thinking about it. My DH likes to say, “sunk costs are irrelevant.” At this point, it no longer matters what you paid for the bag. If this is the best offer you’ve had in 3 years, take it and run.
My DH doesn't understand this. He is always saying why did you buy it if you were going to sell for a loss? As if I buy just to resell!

OMG! After 3 years up for sale I got an offer on the Celine. It’s low but not low ball if you get what I mean.

I really don’t want to sell it for that price but I’m wondering if this is STRONG sign that this is what the bag is actually worth.

Should I take it? I’d be selling it for 15% or original retail and a third of what I paid for it. :panic: Gosh that just seems soooo low for a bag that is excellent quality. I just don’t like / want it.

I think you should sell!

My DH doesn’t like me selling at a loss either... he’s like, “selling at a loss to buy another bag is NOT a good long term
plan.” LOL! But, he’s the one who taught me the concept of sunk costs are irrelevant after I admitted to walking out of the first Jurassic Park movie. I was a little embarrassed because the movie was all the rage at the time, and it was just not my thing. I said something along the lines of, I know, I paid for the tickets, I should have stayed for the whole movie. And he said, “Sunk costs are irrelevant. The money was spent but you could still decide how to spend your time.” It was really liberating!

Once something is no longer making you happy or functioning properly, it doesn’t matter how much money you spent on it months or years ago. (Says she who still has some bags she no longer uses but can’t find a way to part with!)

Thank so much for all the feedback!!! This is kiiiiillllliiiing me. Someone asked if this is the best offer I’ve gotten in 3 years. It’s actually the only offer.

Ok, I’m selling. That’s two bags out this month - both painful losses on bags I didn’t wear. :crybaby:I don’t usually lose much on bags I buy preloved. In fact, more often than not, I actually break even or make a teeny bit because I buy well and keep the bags nice. But, these have languished forever - it seems no one likes them much more then I do.

Now I’m down to just one bag to sell!! It’s the MK that I still need to list (it will sell quickly).

I also recently decided I do want to sell my two Proenza Schouler bags. I just don’t feel joy. But I’m not selling until I find non branded bags I love that can replace their usage. Given that it’s Logomania time with all the brands now, that will be more than a challenge. :whut:

Yay for selling!!

I was less visible this week here because I attended a 3-day seminar. It was an intimate group of 10-12 people, so I really had to participate in the workshops. I hardly had time to take a peek at tpf. [emoji3] ETA: And this was also what helped me resist the BF sales!

Anyway, she’s finally here, my Mulberry Leighton!! Size is just right for me (it was a tad big on my sister). She’s not as leathery fragrant as my other 2 Mulberrys, but still, I can’t wait to use her!

I just went through the list of all my bags and decided that about half of them I either carry regularly or are vintage bags I enjoy having in my collection (and I don't want to carry these much because I want them to stay in good condition.) The other half I don't reach for as much. Nearly all of my small bags are in this category. I need to figure out how to use these so I enjoy using them or let (at least some of) them go.

I have so much open space right now in the bag section. I know however that if my stuff doesn't sell it will fill right up again. I now have 12 bags at the consignment shop. That and a ton of clothes ,boots ,coats and some jewelry. I am trying so hard not to buy because things are on sale. Over the summer I bought way to many bags that I wanted to try because they were on sale and only one turned out to be a keeper. The ones that I paid full price for were keepers right from the start. Do you all get caught up in sales and try things you might not if it was at full price?

What a gorgeous bag!!!! Is it easy to find your thing? I always struggle with bags that aren’t structured.

Perhaps you can try restyling different outfits with the bags from inspiration from
fashion bloggers?

WOW! You have cleared out a lot! If the items don’t sell will you repost yourself or just donate to charity?

I think I’ve mentjoend I have the opposite problem a lot of people on tPF have but it’s stil a problem. I used to get so caught up in saving money that I only shopped sales / discount / preloved and ignored what I wanted. So, I ended up with a bunch of junk that never satisfied me. It’s been a slow process to learn to buy first what I want and just try to get the best deal on that - which sometimes will just be full price.

“Deal” items that weenie intentional buys are almost always a waste whether it’s handbags, clothes or even kitchen tools.

Speaking of which I “bought” 5 bags in my mind over these past two days. Lol! I seriously wanted each one. And this is after not only 2 days before being satisfied. SMH! It was a combo of seeing bags on tPF and the relentless sales messages. Suddenly I “had” to have the bags.

What calmed me down was remembering the huge failure I had during the 2016 holiday season. Remember I bought 5 bags (along with jewelry and other stuff)
in a frenzy? Aaaaaaaand how I only own one of those bags now because the others were bad purchase decisions? Well I’ve kept a note on my phone about what I purchased and how much hassle & expense I caused myself. Reading it again today sobered me right on up.

(That being said, I’m still eyeballing one of the bags. Maybe for my bday?)

Thanks ladies!! Can’t wait to break her in.

Spark, I have yet to try her but indeed I have some bags that are as less structured as her. I’m coping with those so I think this will do fine too. In fact, I think I had a change of behavior this year - bought and used less structured bags.

Btw, the bag weighs 2.22 lbs without the chain strap. And the chain strap weighs 0.38lb. My weight limit is 2.2lbs (1 kg), so I will probably use the chain strap (which I think has been designed more for decorative purpose than heavy duty actual use) sparingly.
