2018 resolution - shopping my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

We went to outlets to go shopping and dh went with dd . My Mom and I went else where but then dh later says to me he got the last bag so he blew the surprise. Then he asks if I could I wrap it since it is in a box and inside it is completely wrapped because he can never get to be neat. So I get the box and the lid is sticking up so I open it to rearrange the tissue and see the color of the strap sticking out . The rest is wrapped tight but now I know exactly what I am getting. I am so mad at myself but I also did not want to jam the lid down and possibly deform something. I actually gave him a business card with four different items on it and told dd she could change the items if she saw something I would like better. Have you ever accidentally or on purpose blown your own surprise?

Not really... But in this situation, it almost had to happen! Maybe next time dd could wrap it...

A few days (weeks?) ago, @Sparkletastic started a discussion about not having that many reveals any more. I enjoy this thread immensely, all the different topics going on. Not buying, buying, selling etc. The last few months, I had the urge to add to my collection, but somehow it did not go smoothly. Which was frustrating and I was not in the mood to share. But I will do so now - I think it has ended well and this will be it for the remainder of the year.

So, my YTD statistics: Bags bought 7, sold 0, given away 4, up for sale 3.

I bought my H GP in gold in January, Coccinelle Arlettis in orchid in February, striped Coach Parker, LC LP SH S in beige and Zara embroidered Minaudière in June. In July, I ordered a Del Giudice Anna bag from Italy in taupe. Unfortunately, it was faulty and I was able to return it. Did not order another one. Then, I was indecisive about a regular Mulberry Lily (old style with suede lining), a BV baby Olimpia and an H Bolide. Did not need any of those, of course. I am lacking a blue or green bag, but nothing came up on the secondary market. Then I decided to go for the BV Olimpia in new light grey with dark grey hardware. I ordered it twice, but, maybe because these were the last pieces - I always seem to be late to the party - both arrived faulty, too. One had a big deep scratch at the closure, the other one a white stain on the smooth leather inside. Buying new, I did not want to compromise... And I did not risk to order a third one. All the time, I was considering the Bolide, I tried different sizes in stores and watched the secondary market, but this bag is still very expensive in heavily used condition. I am not sure whether I really would be happy. And colour would be another difficult question. Then I considered alternatives again, which I had already done once before...

So, and finally, this is what I bought and am happy with: I went for a preloved Furla Piper Dome satchel in natural (which is the old style) and a (new style) Furla My Piper S crossbody bag in onice. I feel more comfortable with this variety at a tenth of the price than with ordering a preloved Bolide unseen for about 4K... Say hello to my November additions, please:

I’ve blown my own surprise so many times. I’m nosy as heck. Lol! So I’ll go scrounging around to peek.

That just means that my tribe has gotten really good at hiding things now.

I’m a sucker for a dome shaped bag and I like these better the Bolide. Congrats!!!!

How about tying a cute tiny scarf on the handles. I don't wear mine that often because the flap that goes over the zipper drives me bonkers but I like the clean lines of it so I keep it. Mine is also short handled so is different to carry. If you are still not loving soon ,can you send it to your consignment shop?
I’ve gotten quite used to the Longchamp flaps and they no longer drive me nuts. [emoji3] takes practice. [emoji3]
If I decide to sell, then it will be through consignment. Thanks.

I like your success story with Furla (contemporary brand)! Those 2 bags are beautiful, though I prefer the newer style. [emoji3]

I like your journey and I don’t see why you have to pay big bucks for heavily used bag. Kudos for the decision! Enjoy your bag! [emoji4][emoji1360][emoji1360]

The advantage of the newer Furla My Piper style is that there is less Saffiano leather! I am looking forward to see how this light grey leather bag will age... These are my first Furla bags, as far as I remember, but I have a watch which is still going strong after 17 (!) years. My Saffiano zip around wallet is 6 years old and in great condition as well. So let us see about the bags! (Ah, I just remembered - I had an iphone cover which did not last very long.)

Funny story! Will you pretend to be surprised when you open it? :graucho:

These are both very sharp bags! And you were definitely right not to "settle." I've heard very good things about the wuality of Furla bags. I've read in a number of places on tPF that the leather is great, they hold up over time, and of course the price is excellent!
