Sorry to have been MIA. I’m hopelessly behind! DH had ankle surgery last week, and it turned out to be much more involved that we anticipated. We thought he was getting a torn tendon and tendon sheath repaired — it turned out to be that, plus another tendon that had separated from the bone, plus tightening ligaments that were, in the surgeons words, “shot.”

DH is now in a splint that weighs about 8 pounds with instructions NOT to put ANY weight on it and to keep it elevated all the time. Since everything is now my job while he heals, the universe decided to gift me with a dog with a bad case of diarrhea and a tree branch that took out the driver’s side mirror of our car during Thursday night’s storm.

I sure hope the saying that bad things come in threes is true, so hopefully that is all I’ll have to handle right now! :panic:
Oh dear... I'm so sorry! This reminds me of when DH ruptured his achilles tendon years ago (playing tennis, don't ask!) and needed emergency surgery. Same deal with the heavy cast, and everything became such a struggle.

It all seemed like too much, and we did NOT have a sick dog or an injured car! :panic:

I hope it all settles down for you very soon.

These are my first Furla bags, as far as I remember, but I have a watch which is still going strong after 17 (!) years. My Saffiano zip around wallet is 6 years old and in great condition as well. So let us see about the bags! (Ah, I just remembered - I had an iphone cover which did not last very long.)
I am very happy with the quality of my old Metropolis so I purchased a mini bag in the same leather from my local department store aniversary sale this fall. However, that was a mistake. They have either ordered 2nd quality goods from Furla to match the sale prices or the quality is declining. I hope not the latter. The leather literally started to crack after several light try-ons at home. Luckily I'ven't removed the tags yet so I got my money back instead of store credit. I've store credit to another store already because their bag broke apart after a week and I've spent whole half year trying to pick another bag but still didn't find anything I like. Well, I have a half year left untill expiry.

This one but in tan with silver hardware.
Love the silver HW. It's pity that most of the bags come with gold HW which shows sign of wear faster.

I sure hope the saying that bad things come in threes is true, so hopefully that is all I’ll have to handle right now! :panic:
Holy! That's a lot to go through! My all the best wishes to you and your hubby  If you feel the urge to rant and if that helps, we are here for you anytime.

Gosh! I’m so sorry! Stay strong. This will pass.

And then once it’s done, make sure you get yourself a treat for being so good!

I certainly will! Actually, I already did get myself something in anticipation of DH’s surgery .... a John Hardy Naga cuff. I don’t have a good mod shot (turns out it’s not always easy to photograph your own arm, lol), so here’s a stock photo.

In my defense, I also sent several H items (a couple of unused scarves and bracelets, plus three watch bands) to Fashionphile, so there are a few “outs” to balance the “in!”

You’re right about that cast and everything feeling like a struggle ... that describes things perfectly! Another doctor we talked to said that everything related to feet and ankles is difficult and involves long recovery times. I hope your DH is fully healed and the injury is a distant memory!

Very nice!
Did you decide against the Tiffany bone cuff?
I'm curious because while I really like it - i tried it on a couple years ago and I still like it a lot! - I didn't come home with it.

Thanks, Ipsum! That’s what I love about this thread — everyone is so supportive anytime someone needs a good rant! :P

The Bone cuff is on the back burner right now ... I like it but it feels really big, so I’m not sure I’d use it enough to make it worth purchasing.

I like it too - honestly - but I'm with you. It looks big and sorta clunky on me… but I keep going back to it and trying it because I love the way it looks! I have a wide silver bangle - an old Jeanine Payer bracelet - and I love it. I can't figure out why this one works and the other feels too big.

Oh, yes... it was years ago! In fact, we were talking about it just last week, and both of us had honestly forgotten whether it was his right ankle or his left one! He thought about it for a minute (because both ankles are now equally healthy) and the only reason he was able to remember that it was his left ankle is that once he was cleared to go back to work he drove himself, which of course he wouldn't have been able to do if his right leg had been in a cast.

The bracelet is gorgeous. Maybe a second one to reward yourself once he gets out of the cast? :giggle:

Hi catsinthebag, wishing your husband a full and speedy recovery. Best wishes with your dog and car. I read something that went along the lines of “life doesn’t throw you anything that you can’t handle.” It helped me when I was going through some bumps in the road, to know I could get past the current struggles. Best wishes to you and your DH on getting through to the other side of this current situation.
Great bracelet! I just sent some H scarves, H bracelets an SLG and a wallet off to Fashionphile and Yoogis today, too! Good luck on your sales!

Thanks for the well-wishes! Yes, it’s definitely not anything I can’t handle, just a PITA challenge right now. I am very aware there are many people in CA right now who have much bigger problems with the fires.

Good luck with your sales as well! It’s a good time of year to get rid of unwanted/unused designer things.

I’d love to see your Jeanine Payer bracelet to compare! I think it’s something about the way the Bone Cuff is supposed to fit. That bump is supposed to go over the bone of your wrist, but when I put it on that way, it feels like the cuff is too close to my hand, too much up against where my wrist bends. But if I push it up my arm a little, it doesn’t look right.

I love love love bracelets — they are probably my favorite type of jewelry. But I’ve realized I only wear the ones that are easy and comfortable. I’m selling a couple of my H enamel bangles because, pretty as they are, it hurts to put them on and off, and once they’re on, they bang into things. So my new mantra is any new bracelet has to be easy on, easy off, and comfortable. The bone cuff fits the first criteria but I’m not sure enough about the second.

maybe it's something about proportions?

i like to bone cuff, too, but with my crazy hectic life it will get scratched in no time!
i admire it from afar, i have a lot of slim ones, branded and not, which i don't take off (even in the airport, i just go straight to the search booth), they are sterling silver, and i wear them all the time. But for the other wrist i have an array of leather bracelets, a lot of Balenciaga, BV and 2 H Kelly Dog Extreme, i have figured out that they are my safe bet, comfortable (coz they'r are soft), easy to swap and coordinate with my scarves and outfits, and way more affordable that branded silver/gold jewellery :D
