:panic: Sparkle’s Black Bag-A-Rama:panic:

You know how you have something quietly buzzing in the back of your brain and then suddenly it’s all you can think about? That’s how I am about my black bags right now. :whut:

I wear black bags a lot. But, I consistently struggle to get the perfect ones. Many of what I have are the oldest bags in my collection. So they weren’t spot on purchases - I was still learning what I like. As a result, I can’t say I’m in love with any of mine except my little LV and maybe the YSL (tbd).

What I Need:
This seems like a lot of black bags but it’s really what I found I need after experimentation and analysis.

Work Bag
Max Mara Large Whitney

Go Anywhere Bag
YSL So Black Small Monogram Cabas

Statement Day to Night Bag (m/l)
Nothing. This was the patent Chanel. I
have no idea what the right replacement
is. What I want is a single classic flap in a
different
material but I don’t care for
caviar and I
don’t want lamb. Calf? Don’t
think they made one. So, I dunno.

Statement Day to Night Bag (small)
Louis Vuitton LockMe II BB

Casual Bag (m/l)
Fendi By the Way
Jimmy Choo Raven

• Casual Bag (small crossbody)
Nothing - I’ve survived without this for a
year but, when I
need it, I’ll be
frustrated not to have it. I obviously won’t
wear this often, I don’t want to spend a
lot on it. So preloved something (?) Also,

I’d prefer it be under the radar or I’d get
something like an LV EPI Alma.

Pretty Travel Tote
Nothing - It has to be practical enough for
travel but, super cute enough for me to
wear once I get to my destination.

• Pretty Travel Backpack
Nothing - Being one of the walking
wounded today, I wore a backpack as
my carryon. That convinced me that for
travel I really need its
convenience more
than I want the look of a tote. I have
a
cheap Swiss
something, which needs to
be replaced with one pretty, practical
backpack for both leisure and work travel

I won’t wear the backpack as a purse so
it doesn’t need to be purse-y or
“collection worthy”.
But I have to love it!

Black Laptop Bag
Knomo Curzon Leather Tote

Here are my outlier bags which don’t fit a need.

Prada Black Saffiano Top Handle Satchel
Proenza Schouler Black Small Courier

The Prada rarely gets worn but, I doubt I’ll sell. I want to be vigilant in not keeping bags I don’t use but, I do feel a very few bags can live in my collection with occasional use. I don’t have to banish everything.

I mentioned that I’m considering selling the PS. It was a bench strength bag but, I think it needs to be rehomed so I can get something I adore.

Help! Any suggestion on the red items? Any thoughts overall?
I think you have things well thought out. I would suggest a tumi backpack for travel. They are well designed for that exact need and still have a bit chic look.

I just checked eBay. I have 4 bags in my watch list. I know I would buy at least 2 if it weren’t for this thread. None are ones I need to get. None are ones I adore. They are all just good deals on good bad which is my weakness. :panic:

I’m going to “out” myself here because I’m tempted and you ladies can pound me if I try to buy one. :noggin: LOL!

Gucci Stirrup top handle (ivory) - I LOVE these bags but struggle to wear the burgundy one I have. I also struggle to wear my ivory Chanel. I’d bet the combo of ivory and Stirrup would never get worn. So, while this is a gorgeous bag, I DO NOT need to buy it.

• Gucci Miss GG (?) brown hobo - I love Gucci bags and I’m loving my JC hobo. But I don’t need another hobo. And, I don’t wear brown. So this would be another terrible buy.

• Gucci 1970 white hobo - A couple years ago I wanted this bag in black. White is not black. LOL! And, no more hobos!

• Chanel red lamb camera bag - This would be a good add if it wasn’t in so so condition. I don’t want to refurbish any bags. New or like new only. Plus I’m not sure this is the little red bag I want to add. It has ghw. I’ve been thinking of a red LV LockMe II BB because I like my black so much and it has shw.

Ok, ladies. Thanks the list. If I buy one of these let the pounding begin. And please feel free to pile on your opinions as to why I don’t need ANY of these almost, not quite right for me bags. LOL!

I wish we could help you find a bag you really really want! It would help with all these wish-list-just-because-they’re-bargains, right? I know the feeling.
Good luck today! Sending the very best vibes.

That is a tough decision. Try styling it a bit more before you get rid of it. I discovered that if I take the bag to the closet and hold it up against my actual tops or dresses hanging I find things that look good with them that I would not have thought of by only pulling things out to try with it. Good luck with your decision.
i know :(
i am not in a hurry
but don't want to keep it without use either... i am taking my time to decide

Today I wore a bag I haven’t worn in at least a couple of years — my Prada Vitello Daino tote in the color Ambra. I bought it at the Prada outlet in Sunrise, Florida, in 2013. It was a vacation with a lot of good memories. Over the last few years, I’ve gotten into the habit of only wearing my H and Chanel bags, and stopped wearing this. I even sent photos off to the usual online consignors to see what I could get for it (answer: not much:sad:). I was torn, so I asked DH what he thought, and he gave me a very TPF-like answer — that I should wear the bag a few times and see how I like it!:P

So I wore it today, and I have to say, I really enjoyed using it! The color is a little limiting, but also great for summer. The shoulder strap hangs perfectly and the leather, while not H quality, is thick and chewy. So I guess for now at least, it’s a keeper.

It looks great with this outfit! DH is right about putting it on probation. Glad it’s working.

Thinking about this bag. One reason I don’t wear brown / tan bags is I don’t have lots of shoes to coordinate in that range. I don’t need them to match but I wouldn’t like brown with silver shoes or caramel with black shoes without some very purposeful coordination. So, maybe you need to find fabulous shoes to coordinate with the bag.

Also, this particular color would go wonderfully with a lot of colors - red, yellow, green, blue, pink, black (yep black. I’d use accessories to combine the two alone or possibly with a third), Brown, warm beiges and creams.

HTH!

i had this in Palissandro, dark tan brown, and i was struggling to make the colour work for my clothes, i sold mine.
But leather was  and i am really glad to see that you are keeping yours!

it was more of dark caramel, but browns are very difficult for me to use casually, it takes a lot of thinking of putting the whole look together. Plus, it has yellow gold hw and has A LOT of it, which is also a bit difficult for me, as i wear silver most of the time.
i still have a black Prada in VD, but i use it so rarely that i started thinking of selling it, too
but it's soo good, leather is like silk

I am a deal hunter
but, jokes apart, i really would not pay extra for a brown bag, i have a few, and none of them was purchased new/for full price.
it's such a love-hate colour for me
That bright mustard-colored bag is gorgeous! I completely understand, though- I find browns/yellows/oranges/tans/beiges difficult to actually use. There's a gorgeous bag I keep considering (only because it keeps coming up), but as it's this shade of bright mustard, I'm pretty sure I'll just look at it IF I were to bring it home...

I think it's great that you've thought all this through. So, once you find them, you'll know exactly. I do this too, as I don't think I really NEED anything-- but I do recognize holes (obviously they are 'would be nice to haves'). I do think this is the best place to be... but then again for me, I tend to then jump on items I think are rare to come across, which fill a void I think would be helpful. Hence the sudden deluge of 'other' bags... :confused1::nuts:

Thanks for the ideas! The bag is actually more yellow than it looks in the photos. The color name is basically Amber, and it’s pretty accurate. So it goes well with blues and greens, but I find it a little harsh with black.

And how I wish I could do fabulous shoes! Years of hip and back problems — and now my damaged knee — have really limited my shoe choices. I had VANS sneakers in a denim color on with this outfit, matching my shirt rather than my bag.
