I think I’m going to try and fall back in love with my Herbag.

Might take it to spa to see what they can do about the leather, maybe they can buff out the scratch that bothers me.

I think everyone wants a bright colored Herbag, so my super neutral Herbag isn’t desired anymore. Plus it seems stock is up with the Herbag so resale market isn’t needed to get one.

It was a good backdrop for my beautiful twillies.
I hope the spa treatment would make you fall back in love! Nothing like a 'fresh' bag!
So, Ms Fendi BTW is going on the trip with me. I did my best handbag “detailing” - cleaning, moisturizing, buffing, polishing the hardware, etc.

And, my goodness! She is a pretty bag! The leather is soooo nice. Plus she’s super functional. I dunno that I can / should let this one go. LOL!

It’s funny how you can fall back in love (strong like) with a bag when you give it a rest and shine it up to its best.

I’ll make a final decision once the YSL is back and I use both for a little while. No rush. They’re both current and should sell well in the back to school / Christmas season timing.

I do still have a hankering for this in a color in the smaller size. Cobalt would be really nice. View attachment 4112307
I hope I'm able to say it well (English language and all). I can see why you are not in love with this bag and you just super like it. She is not as elegant as your other bags like the Chanel flaps. She serves a purpose, so you're happy. She is pretty in her own right. She comes from a great brand too. But she does not have the sophistication and class of the flaps. This is more casual. If you could accept her limitation then keep her. But I really think this is not a forever bag for you in the sense that you will be attracted to other bags that will come along in the same category that are as utilitarian, but prettier or classier.

Today I wore a bag I haven’t worn in at least a couple of years — my Prada Vitello Daino tote in the color Ambra. I bought it at the Prada outlet in Sunrise, Florida, in 2013. It was a vacation with a lot of good memories. Over the last few years, I’ve gotten into the habit of only wearing my H and Chanel bags, and stopped wearing this. I even sent photos off to the usual online consignors to see what I could get for it (answer: not much:sad:). I was torn, so I asked DH what he thought, and he gave me a very TPF-like answer — that I should wear the bag a few times and see how I like it!:P

So I wore it today, and I have to say, I really enjoyed using it! The color is a little limiting, but also great for summer. The shoulder strap hangs perfectly and the leather, while not H quality, is thick and chewy. So I guess for now at least, it’s a keeper.

It looks good on you!

I just checked eBay. I have 4 bags in my watch list. I know I would buy at least 2 if it weren’t for this thread. None are ones I need to get. None are ones I adore. They are all just good deals on good bad which is my weakness. :panic:

I’m going to “out” myself here because I’m tempted and you ladies can pound me if I try to buy one. :noggin: LOL!

Gucci Stirrup top handle (ivory) - I LOVE these bags but struggle to wear the burgundy one I have. I also struggle to wear my ivory Chanel. I’d bet the combo of ivory and Stirrup would never get worn. So, while this is a gorgeous bag, I DO NOT need to buy it.

• Gucci Miss GG (?) brown hobo - I love Gucci bags and I’m loving my JC hobo. But I don’t need another hobo. And, I don’t wear brown. So this would be another terrible buy.

• Gucci 1970 white hobo - A couple years ago I wanted this bag in black. White is not black. LOL! And, no more hobos!

• Chanel red lamb camera bag - This would be a good add if it wasn’t in so so condition. I don’t want to refurbish any bags. New or like new only. Plus I’m not sure this is the little red bag I want to add. It has ghw. I’ve been thinking of a red LV LockMe II BB because I like my black so much and it has shw.

Ok, ladies. Thanks the list. If I buy one of these let the pounding begin. And please feel free to pile on your opinions as to why I don’t need ANY of these almost, not quite right for me bags. LOL!
You already did a thorough and excellent analysis. Sounds like a clear no on these bags. I wanted to let you know that I checked out the LV LockMe II BB on one of my previous vacations. It is a fun, small sized bag with great leather. I can see why you love yours. I think I was carrying either my black patent Chanel Coco Shine small Flap or black Gucci Soho Disco. Either way I recall liking the LV however it overlaps with two bags I already own in terms of size/colour/function. You’ve talked about getting a red LockMe II BB for quite some time. Wishing you the best on your vacation and your recovery.

What’s everyone carrying today (or wishing they were carrying)?

In my Neverfull today.
I carried a Chanel black caviar WOC in my LV Batignolles Horizontal earlier today. I carried my Chanel black Reissue 226 later in the day.

My LV Montaigne BB in what was supposed to be a LE color: Marine Rouge. I jumped to get this at the end of 2016, because my SA said it was a limited edition, but it's still up on the LV site. :annoyed:
I do love the bag, but I feel a little bit... I don't know... "cheated" isn't exactly the right word, but I don't know what is. It's just that I thought I was getting something super-duper-special, and here it is 18 months later, and still available.
Which I realize is pretty silly of me, since I live out here in non-fashion-land, and I'm positive I'm the only one in a 100-mile radius who ownes a Montaigne BB at all, let alone in this color, so why am I obsessing?
Anyway, it's a pretty bag, and a perfect size/weight.

I can understand your frustration. It is a beautiful and special colour combo on your lovely Montaigne BB!

Lovely and bold, practical bag

I just carried a little white leather pouch today, the only time I went out was to buy bran flakes (it was really hot).

On Thurs I had a presentation involving lots of artefacts so I carried my Swift Choc Web Bolide 45 and also my Gucci Bright. You are seeing one of the elephants sculptures as part of the Elephant Parade that's going on for charity.

Sat I carried my H Rouge H Box leather Bolide to the H meet with Cartujano leather/Astrakhan strap and H Carmen key thing. I don't normally dress it up but I liked it.
Beautiful bags and pics - thanks for sharing!

There’re threads dedicated for styles, but more like a what’s coming out in each year and season. Not really a deep discussion because once it started to catch up, they discontinue it. And maybe only a girl or two bought that bag during that mad rush. So, not much to talk about. The only one that seems to be the longest is for the promenade clutch, but they revise the designs 3 times from the soft lookalike to miss Dior lookalike to whatever it look last on it’s own. And then they shut it down to give way for Diorama. The Diorissimo is another one that’s quite long, but they discontinued the large size which people seems to prefer to give way for the mini because that’s what the market tend to gear toward to, but then it look too much like mini LD I think with the ridiculous amount they charge, people turn toward LD. Diorissimo is a great bag and would make a great relax looking tote. I think they should discontinue large LD (been rumored to) and keep Diorissimo, but that didn’t happen.

You can tell I’m still mad. :P
I used to own a Dior Miss Dior Promenade Tricolour Pouch. It was beautiful, amazing lambskin. What I really wanted was the older style Promenade Pouch and missed it, it was discontinued by the time I got around to the boutique. I also liked the Diorissimo and Miss Dior, beautiful bags!

I think I’m going to try and fall back in love with my Herbag.

Congratulations on your decision!

We have not heard from the insurance company yet but it was severe. The bag is mz Wallace carmine coco. Stepped out of the box for these bags. If they work it will be great . If not on the chopping block they will go. In either case I am done shopping for bags through July at the minimum. I am saying out loud so I have to stick to it.
I can’t wait to see your new bags when they arrive. Be well, best wishes with your recovery DC.

My YSL tote today. Ive realized that I like the slouchy N/S Proenza S tote better than this structured E/W tote. That’s why this has been not used for a while. However, it rains in the afternoon nowadays and I’m so paranoid with the nubuck material on the PS, so this is actually better for the season.

I think I remember that color — was it sort of like milk chocolate? It’s funny how some colors that are medium neutrals can be so hard to match.

I do wish Prada would do more Vitello Daino bags. It looks like after the Saffiano crazyness, they are making them again, but the leather doesn’t feel as thick as the older bags.

it was more of dark caramel, but browns are very difficult for me to use casually, it takes a lot of thinking of putting the whole look together. Plus, it has yellow gold hw and has A LOT of it, which is also a bit difficult for me, as i wear silver most of the time.
i still have a black Prada in VD, but i use it so rarely that i started thinking of selling it, too :(
but it's soo good, leather is like silk

The hardware is difficult for me too — like you, I usually wear silver, and Prada’s GHW is really gold. So this won’t be a high-use bag for me. But considering that I was offered about 30% of what I paid for it, it wasn’t worth selling since I do still like it. Good leather is hard to pass up!

i got mine pre-loved, it did look brand new, and when i sold it, it was hardly looking any different, pristine condition and no signs of wear whatsoever. i didn't pay full price, and i sold it for almost the same that i paid for it. No Seller's remorse at all, i hope it's in a happy home now :)

Thanks, I love my Chanel Tote too! It’s a great combination of form and function. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts after you see it in person.

And the emerald green is TDF. Although I agree with you on the size options. Maybe get something small in that color to satisfy the urge, like a wallet or card case?
I’m excited to try on the tote. I hope I can find one!

And, I really want a green bag. I have for a while. I’m just super particular about the shade and rarely see the ones I want available. This emerald is ridiculously pretty. But m/l would be the only option. Jumbo is just way too much green. LOL!
Unwatch them.

Great suggestion!!! I just did! In fact I just unwatched all the bags I had in my list. None were passionate love. So why keep the clutter in my head.

I love this bag. I would really like to have one of Prada’s older Vitello Daino bags. The leather was amazing.

I’m surprised this is hard to match. But maybe your wardrobe is like mine. It doesn’t lend itself to browns. And I agree Prada’s gold is GOLD!!! It makes it a little hard to wear my black bauletto at times. For a classically shaped black bag, it screams.
Dear Sparkletastic, so sorry to hear about the hanger meets eye incident. Best wishes on surgery, recovery and family visits. I also love your “grumpy like a grizzly in a girdle” line, so funny. Enjoy your bag dreaming/hunting. I’m sure whatever you choose will be outstanding!
Thank you for the well wishes!!
I know not good. She is being cared for very well.
I’m glad to hear that.

It looks good on you!
I think you are right. I tend to like more girly or classic items. But, I do need bags that are casual. I keep referencing the Jimmy Choo you and I both have because it’s a great example. It’s not my usual but works really well in my wardrobe. It’s a carefree bag that still has style. And, it won’t easily go “out of style”. So I don’t see myself ever getting rid of it.

I think the Fendi could be the same. It won’t ever go out of style (except with trend following bag fashionistas), it’s super functional and I really like the casual look.

If I made it compete with my other bags it would lose. But, I think it definitely has a place. We’ll see what happens when the attitudinal YSL so black monogram cabas comes back. LOL! I reserve the right to keep or sell either or both. I feel like my black bags need a little work to be perfect for me. I still need a good replacement for the patent Chanel’s “usage” and have no clue as to what that could be.
Yes, I have talked about that red LV for a while. I’ve hesitated because I’ve never walked in my closet and thought - I need a small red bag. I have my Trussardi and that works for me. So, hard pause.
i got mine pre-loved, it did look brand new, and when i sold it, it was hardly looking any different, pristine condition and no signs of wear whatsoever. i didn't pay full price, and i sold it for almost the same that i paid for it. Selling for what you paid? Score!!!!

:panic: Sparkle’s Black Bag-A-Rama:panic:

You know how you have something quietly buzzing in the back of your brain and then suddenly it’s all you can think about? That’s how I am about my black bags right now. :whut:

I wear black bags a lot. But, I consistently struggle to get the perfect ones. Many of what I have are the oldest bags in my collection. So they weren’t spot on purchases - I was still learning what I like. As a result, I can’t say I’m in love with any of mine except my little LV and maybe the YSL (tbd).

What I Need:
This seems like a lot of black bags but it’s really what I found I need after experimentation and analysis.

Work Bag
Max Mara Large Whitney

Go Anywhere Bag
YSL So Black Small Monogram Cabas

Statement Day to Night Bag (m/l)
Nothing. This was the patent Chanel. I
have no idea what the right replacement
is. What I want is a single classic flap in a
different
material but I don’t care for
caviar and I
don’t want lamb. Calf? Don’t
think they made one. So, I dunno.

Statement Day to Night Bag (small)
Louis Vuitton LockMe II BB

Casual Bag (m/l)
Fendi By the Way
Jimmy Choo Raven

• Casual Bag (small crossbody)
Nothing - I’ve survived without this for a
year but, when I
need it, I’ll be
frustrated not to have it. I obviously won’t
wear this often, I don’t want to spend a
lot on it. So preloved something (?) Also,

I’d prefer it be under the radar or I’d get
something like an LV EPI Alma.

Pretty Travel Tote
Nothing - It has to be practical enough for
travel but, super cute enough for me to
wear once I get to my destination.

• Pretty Travel Backpack
Nothing - Being one of the walking
wounded today, I wore a backpack as
my carryon. That convinced me that for
travel I really need its
convenience more
than I want the look of a tote. I have
a
cheap Swiss
something, which needs to
be replaced with one pretty, practical
backpack for both leisure and work travel

I won’t wear the backpack as a purse so
it doesn’t need to be purse-y or
“collection worthy”.
But I have to love it!

Black Laptop Bag
Knomo Curzon Leather Tote

Here are my outlier bags which don’t fit a need.

Prada Black Saffiano Top Handle Satchel
Proenza Schouler Black Small Courier

The Prada rarely gets worn but, I doubt I’ll sell. I want to be vigilant in not keeping bags I don’t use but, I do feel a very few bags can live in my collection with occasional use. I don’t have to banish everything.

I mentioned that I’m considering selling the PS. It was a bench strength bag but, I think it needs to be rehomed so I can get something I adore.

Help! Any suggestion on the red items? Any thoughts overall?

You are lucky to have the BH . My daughter talked me out of mine and I actually miss it. Don't know why the stopped making it.

That is a tough decision. Try styling it a bit more before you get rid of it. I discovered that if I take the bag to the closet and hold it up against my actual tops or dresses hanging I find things that look good with them that I would not have thought of by only pulling things out to try with it. Good luck with your decision.
