2018 resolution - shopping my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

OMG.

These things happen to a lot of people, A&E is full of them. I have opened cupboard doors straight into my head on more than one occasion WHACK!

Oh no! This just is so stupid it’s especially frustrating. A hanger. Sheesh!

My car was brand new and only three days old.

Oh no on your car! Is it totaled? Yikes. I hope they got the drunk driver.

What are they doing to that driver???

Hopefully put him / her under the jail.

One of my sorta friends had a daughter who had 3 DUI’s. Always excuses. On the third she ran into someone going down the wrong way on the highway. Luckily no one was killed though everyone was badly hurt.

Her parents were upset that this not only affected her driving but her career (bizarrely she was a counselor) so that she had to go into a different field.

I never could understand why neither she nor the parents owned the responsibility. I understand she had a problem and needed treatment / 12 steps. But she could have killed someone multiple times. Not just the 3 she was caught. It’s unconscionable that the parents weren’t more aggressive (she still lived at home) and ultimately be adult daughter didn’t get help until forced to.

When I said something directly after the 2nd DUI (mom was relating the story in a cavalier ha ha oh my crazy daughter girls just wanna have fun way). The mom took offense. Just craziness.

I was so bad today. Later this afternoon the one I wanted in red was suddenly added to the sale so I bought it. I will now go on to ban island for a while. At least I only have to pay for one myself.

Lovely and bold, practical bag

I just carried a little white leather pouch today, the only time I went out was to buy bran flakes (it was really hot).

On Thurs I had a presentation involving lots of artefacts so I carried my Swift Choc Web Bolide 45 and also my Gucci Bright. You are seeing one of the elephants sculptures as part of the Elephant Parade that's going on for charity.

Sat I carried my H Rouge H Box leather Bolide to the H meet with Cartujano leather/Astrakhan strap and H Carmen key thing. I don't normally dress it up but I liked it.

The Bolide is such a pretty color!

The enabler me says it's alright!

Wow mostly Guccis! I'm happy that you have a way of analyzing these potential purchases and temptations and are able to stop yourself when you know the bags won't work for you.
ETA: Speaking of Guccis, I have a suede Jackie in my ebay watch list for some time. I reached out to the Japanese seller prior to going to Japan to ask if they have a store where I can see the item. (Hope that's okay with ebay??) Unfortunately, they only have an office and a separate warehouse which is not for viewing. If I was able to see the bag then I might have bought it. What's holding me back here are the customs duties and taxes.

3 days! Is the damage major? How does it work with the insurance, will it just be repair and not replacement?

LOL! I have to analyze. You know how bad I was before with flipping. And, I still have those bags I just decided to let go that I need to sell.

I need everyone to hold me accountable. I’m better but not cured. LOL!!!

My YSL tote today. Ive realized that I like the slouchy N/S Proenza S tote better than this structured E/W tote. That’s why this has been not used for a while. However, it rains in the afternoon nowadays and I’m so paranoid with the nubuck material on the PS, so this is actually better for the season.

So, Ms Fendi BTW is going on the trip with me. I did my best handbag “detailing” - cleaning, moisturizing, buffing, polishing the hardware, etc.

And, my goodness! She is a pretty bag! The leather is soooo nice. Plus she’s super functional. I dunno that I can / should let this one go. LOL!

It’s funny how you can fall back in love (strong like) with a bag when you give it a rest and shine it up to its best.

I’ll make a final decision once the YSL is back and I use both for a little while. No rush. They’re both current and should sell well in the back to school / Christmas season timing.

I do still have a hankering for this in a color in the smaller size. Cobalt would be really nice.

My friend who is lives down the road is young but she was doing something else looking down and she hit herself on the open dryer door (stackable) and now has a concussion. It happens!

Yikes!! I hope she will be ok. A concussion is no small thing.

@catsinthebag - I love your Chanel Timeless tote. I’m going to see if they have one back home this weekend. If not, I’ll call back here to see if they have one / can get one in for me to try. Fingers crossed.

The other bag I reeeaaaalllg want but don’t want to spend money on is the emerald green Chanel flap that was just out. If I got one, it would have to be the M/L as that is too much color for me in the jumbo. But, I just don’t feel Chanel flaps are worth current prices. Esp since I have a hard time fitting things in the M/L and hate double flaps.

I dunno. Maybe one will will be left around for me to see and decide.

And the emerald green is TDF. Although I agree with you on the size options. Maybe get something small in that color to satisfy the urge, like a wallet or card case?

Was hit by a drunk driver in my new car. I am lucky that is all that was injured. Dh is knee was hurt but not bad.

I just checked eBay. I have 4 bags in my watch list. I know I would buy at least 2 if it weren’t for this thread. None are ones I need to get. None are ones I adore. They are all just good deals on good bad which is my weakness.

I’m going to “out” myself here because I’m tempted and you ladies can pound me if I try to buy one. LOL!

• Gucci Stirrup top handle (ivory) - I LOVE these bags but struggle to wear the burgundy one I have. I also struggle to wear my ivory Chanel. I’d bet the combo of ivory and Stirrup would never get worn. So, while this is a gorgeous bag, I DO NOT need to buy it.

• Gucci Miss GG (?) brown hobo - I love Gucci bags and I’m loving my JC hobo. But I don’t need another hobo. And, I don’t wear brown. So this would be another terrible buy.

• Gucci 1970 white hobo - A couple years ago I wanted this bag in black. White is not black. LOL! And, no more hobos!

• Chanel red lamb camera bag - This would be a good add if it wasn’t in so so condition. I don’t want to refurbish any bags. New or like new only. Plus I’m not sure this is the little red bag I want to add. It has ghw. I’ve been thinking of a red LV LockMe II BB because I like my black so much and it has shw.

Ok, ladies. Thanks the list. If I buy one of these let the pounding begin. And please feel free to pile on your opinions as to why I don’t need ANY of these almost, not quite right for me bags. LOL!

In my Neverfull today.

Today I wore a bag I haven’t worn in at least a couple of years — my Prada Vitello Daino tote in the color Ambra. I bought it at the Prada outlet in Sunrise, Florida, in 2013. It was a vacation with a lot of good memories. Over the last few years, I’ve gotten into the habit of only wearing my H and Chanel bags, and stopped wearing this. I even sent photos off to the usual online consignors to see what I could get for it (answer: not much). I was torn, so I asked DH what he thought, and he gave me a very TPF-like answer — that I should wear the bag a few times and see how I like it!

So I wore it today, and I have to say, I really enjoyed using it! The color is a little limiting, but also great for summer. The shoulder strap hangs perfectly and the leather, while not H quality, is thick and chewy. So I guess for now at least, it’s a keeper.

My LV Montaigne BB in what was supposed to be a LE color: Marine Rouge. I jumped to get this at the end of 2016, because my SA said it was a limited edition, but it's still up on the LV site.
I do love the bag, but I feel a little bit... I don't know... "cheated" isn't exactly the right word, but I don't know what is. It's just that I thought I was getting something super-duper-special, and here it is 18 months later, and still available.
Which I realize is pretty silly of me, since I live out here in non-fashion-land, and I'm positive I'm the only one in a 100-mile radius who ownes a Montaigne BB at all, let alone in this color, so why am I obsessing?
Anyway, it's a pretty bag, and a perfect size/weight.

If it’s any consolation, I would feel exactly the same way if I were you, I hate feeling misled by SAs. That said, it is a beautiful bag and I bet that over time, you would have bought it anyway. FWIW, I’ve seen Pochette Metis bags in Marine Rouge here in the Boston area, but never the Montaigne in Marine Rouge. I do believe you have a rare bag, even if it is still available!

I’m going back to my home state for 8 days. I hate it there. It’s boring beyond belief. But, at least it’s July so it won’t be cold and, I’ll get to visit family and friends so, I guess it will be bearable.

I had planned to go for the weekend but extended the trip because I need to have eye surgery. I have an artificial lens embedded in one of my eyes (along with a scheral buckle and some other medical intervention along they way - 4 surgeries total on just the one eye. More on the other.)

Anyway, I decided to switch all my hangers to wooden (from cheapy plastic) and hit myself in the eye with one of them. Who does that?!? Of course, it couldn’t hit me in the nose or cheek. Nope. It had to hit the bullseye of the teeny space of the lens. Sheesh.

I’m grateful it didn’t damage me or the lens and my doctor assured me that he can reattach it to my iris. No expected issues with my cornea. But, grrrrrr!

This means I will have had 3 surgeries in 60 days. For a person who rarely gets sick this is ridiculous. I’ve been grumpy as a grizzly bear in a girdle. I told Mr. Sparkle that we need to start a new tradition of the Post Surgery Bag Presentation. So, he’s gonna owe me three. He needs to get crack-a-lacking!

I’m trying to decide what bags to pack. We arrive Tue to my hometown for the surgery consult. Surgery on Wed. Then we’re driving across state for Friday dinner with friends and a Saturday bday party for another friend. Sunday we drive back across state to arrive once again in my hometown for Sunday family dinner, Monday bday dinner for a different family member then flying out Tuesday.

This is the first time I will travel and desperately want to stay in sweat pants and a baggy t shirt the whole time. LOL! With a recovering knee, broken toe, wacko foot and half blind eye, I am sooooo not feeling like dressing up or being social. But, family and friends are important.

But, I’m definitely grumpy like a grizzly in a girdle. I think I need to take my favorite bags to bring some happy.

Dear Sparkletastic, so sorry to hear about the hanger meets eye incident. Best wishes on surgery, recovery and family visits. I also love your “grumpy like a grizzly in a girdle” line, so funny. Enjoy your bag dreaming/hunting. I’m sure whatever you choose will be outstanding!

i am ready for my June stats, which is not exciting in terms of shopping my closet, but darn exciting in terms of scoring rare, special and LE pieces!!
Balenciaga is turning 100 years in 2018, and they've made a LE tote and a few SLGs to celebrate it, tote was made in 2 sizes, very small A6 which i checked and tried and could not make myself to settle on it, and a slightly bigger one B4, which i only saw once online, and it was kinda unicorn, which i got lucky to track down!

I think I’m going to try and fall back in love with my Herbag.

Might take it to spa to see what they can do about the leather, maybe they can buff out the scratch that bothers me.

I think everyone wants a bright colored Herbag, so my super neutral Herbag isn’t desired anymore. Plus it seems stock is up with the Herbag so resale market isn’t needed to get one.

It was a good backdrop for my beautiful twillies.

That sounds like a good idea. I haven’t brought anything to Spa yet, but I’ve heard they can work wonders. You can also ask on DocRide’s thread over in the H forum, she may have some ideas for how to spruce up the bag.
