Funny. We are just talking about colors and, today, I did the reverse of what I’ve been doing. I’m wearing pink so I wanted a neutral bag. That got me into my ivory Chanel.

I definitely need neutrals and colors in my bag wardrobe. I can’t be happy with just one or the other.

Question for everyone: if you had to pick only ONE color for your bag(s) in your wardrobe and it couldn’t be the safe choices of black or brown, what would it be?
Navy or dark grey. Or maybe gold/natural (like vache), but it's hard to go really dressy with that, I think.

Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery from surgery. I can’t wait to see your scarf mail!

Excellent recommendations, I am adding them to my to be read list!

Congratulations on the sale!

I would pick red - Gucci Hibiscus Red, Hermès Rouge H and the red of my Chanel Reissue!

Boo, isn’t that a safe choice, per @Sparkletastic ’s description? If not then I will also add navy - Hermès Blue Sapphire.
Oh right. Rouge H or Blue Sapphire also. See, we are already up to more than one color, LOL!

Wow, eight bags, that’s impressive!

Re. the Garden Party, I can definitely chime in. I used to have a whopping three of these, and now have just one. I have a love/hate relationship with this bag. I guess I feel like it should be the perfect tote, and in many ways, it is: understated, durable, super high quality, not too heavy for a leather bag of this size. But I’ve struggled with it, mainly because I need a shoulder bag and the GP was not really intended to be one. The handle drop is 6 inches, so it can fit over the shoulder, but it’s a tight fit, especially with a coat on (in the interest of full disclosure, my handles have stretched about 1/2 an inch to an inch). And the handles aren’t really comfortable over the shoulder either — they are rolled, not flat, and not the slightly-flattened rolled handles like on a Longchamp bag.

When I carry a bag of that size, it’s because I have a lot to carry that day, so my load is often heavy, which means I don’t want to carry the bag by hand. If I elbow-carry a loaded GP, the handles leave welts on my arm, and as I said, shoulder-carry isn’t great either. If I spent more time in a car and less on public transportation, I would probably love and use this bag a lot more!

So, I’ve gone from three of these, to two, and now to one as I just sent one off to consignment. The color I kept, funnily enough, is Rouge H. We’ll see if it stays. I love the color but if I find something that works better for me, I will have to decide whether to keep it or let it go.

I’ll be curious to see yours when you get it! The last time I saw a Rouge H GP on the Hermes website, it didn’t have the contrast stitching mine has, so I wonder if the photo was wrong or if they’ve changed it.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
This is all great info. I keep thinking I need one, but like you I would load it and then not really be able to carry it!!

Hello all, I am late to the conversation but wanted to share nevertheless. In my collection, I have two pairs of siblings and several LC LPs. First pair are the Mulberry Bayswaters. The mole grey one was my first premium bag - and then I could not resist the dusty rose one at Bicester Village. Second pair are the H GPs, which answers another question. They are under my most worn bags - always handheld or in the crook of my arm. Under the radar, easy to access, work stuff fits perfectly. And lightweight, which is a problem with the grey Bays, sadly. So I vote for the Garden Party! (And I am certainly the gold / caramel type.)

No tips, but I just want to share. When I look at my closet I see a lot of white, black and blue tops. And I tell myself I want to inject some variety on the colors. And then I go shopping and a pretty blouse would have several beautiful color options. But what do I pick? Still any of white or blue or black!

It depends on how brave you want to be or how on trend. Off-greens, yellows and pastels seem to be the colours/tints 'du jour' atm but any pink or red is going to look pretty and classic, purple and violet are also lovely.
