Ah... I’ve always loved the BH, but never dare to own one. LV logo canvas intimidate me. I only have one long zip up wallet from them (with a special hot air balloon print and turquoise lining from years ago) and get self conscious every time I use it. So, that’s the museum piece for me. [emoji28] I know LV many times offer awesome bag design, but their logo always scare me. And for the leather bag, it’s the price that scare me. [emoji28]
Turquoise lining on your wallet sounds amazing!

More bags, you are right that was a pretty dull choice. Ok beige ....or tan or ....pale gold! Any of those.

Sparkletastic I missed your change in approach to buying preloved. What happened?
You’ve got a good sense of humour - I was subtly teasing you as you wear a ton of colourful beauties! Pale gold, yes!!

Speaking of msd's love of leather smell, my new bag from indie Australian bag maker Pur Jus smells so amazingly leathery. View attachment 4076987View attachment 4076988
The leather is also so amazing to the touch and the prettiest metallic leather I've ever seen. It's called antique pearlized purple and it has such a subtle shimmer and it's such a versatile muted shade . Love it.
This is pretty, I like the metallic purple colour. You look fabulous!

Hello all, I am late to the conversation but wanted to share nevertheless. In my collection, I have two pairs of siblings and several LC LPs. First pair are the Mulberry Bayswaters. The mole grey one was my first premium bag - and then I could not resist the dusty rose one at Bicester Village. Second pair are the H GPs, which answers another question. They are under my most worn bags - always handheld or in the crook of my arm. Under the radar, easy to access, work stuff fits perfectly. And lightweight, which is a problem with the grey Bays, sadly. So I vote for the Garden Party! (And I am certainly the gold / caramel type.)

Ooh, your Mulberry bags are lovely! Thanks for your Garden Party pics and comments, so helpful!

Have you ever consider renting those bags over a weekend or a week just to see how it’ll work out for you? It may sound extreme, but I think it’ll suit you. If you like a bag, you can buy it directly from the boutique later. If you don’t like them, it’s just a week and a bit of money. Not a big deal. Not much than a loss you may get if you buy them full price and have to flip them.
I’ve thought about renting before but, I don’t think I need to now. I have a good handle on what I want / will keep / will use. My flipping is pretty much at an end - I can’t see me parting with anything I have for years if ever. I’m just needing to sell bags I’ve had for a while, had already pulled from my collection and was lazy (anxious) about listing because of the higher cost.

It’s post # 7829. Bottom line, now that my collection is pretty much done, if I make an add, I want exactly what I want. LOL! I’m not as willing to wait for a bag to come up re-sale or deal with preloved hassle. So, I’ll be buying more new (except for a very few HG’s I would still like to add).

CONGRATS on your sales. I know how hard it is for you sell in your market. So yay!!!

It’s interesting that you’ve made this switch (in bold) as I’ve been shifting a little bit from my adamant preference for preowned.

I’ve gotten some amazing preloved deals but slowly switched to buying new. I’m a little wearying of the hunting / authentication / refurb hassle. But, mostly it’s impatience. My collection is finally in a great place. So, when I add, it’s to fill a specific gap. If I want a purple feathered XYZ, I want the purple feathered XYZ now...not when someone else has decided to sell theirs. :-s

Also, when I was still figuring out my collection, I bought preloved to minimize losses on the highly likely chance I may flip the bag. Now, however, I am clear on what I want. 4 of my last 7 adds were brand new and (gasp!) full price. But they’re some of my best ever buys - I’ve worn them a LOT and still love them to pieces! Knowing what I want - and more importantly what I will keep - let’s me buy new because I’m not going to lose money from selling.

So, ideally, I’d buy everything new on sale. The problem is, most of the brands I’m most interested now in don’t have sales.

And, to add to the confusion, the only bags I really want from two of my favorite brands - Chanel and Dior - were made in previous seasons. So I still have to buy them preloved. :shrugs:

Anyone else changing their bag buying approach? Preloved to new? New to preloved? Big to small? Colorful to neutrals? Expensive to reasonably priced? Leather to vegan? Domestic brands to other sources? Change in preferred style? If so, what is the change and why?
For me the change is in my summer wardrobe. I bought a lot of little printed tops so many of my printed or monogrammed bags don’t look great with them.

When I first joined tPF, I wouldn’t have dreamed of buying a “used” bag! But I slowly got used to the idea, and love that there are experts right here offering free authentication services. Also, when push came to shove, I balked at the price of a brand new Kelly from the H boutique. Just couldn’t do it!

I only buy bags in excellent, nearly new condition (the exception being vintage Hermes), and only from sites with return policies. I really have to get my hands on a bag to be 100% sure about it, so being able to return is essential for me. I also have a very sensitive nose, so even a whiff of perfume or smoke smell on a bag is a turn-off to me.

That said, two of my most used bags are pre-loved: my Barenia Kelly and my black Chanel Reissue 227. I’m on the fence right now about Chanel — would love another Reissue, would love New, but the prices are becoming insane. That said, all things being equal, I’d still rather buy new than pre-loved.

I also feel like I’m going more toward neutrals, especially black, than ever before. Not too long ago, I would consciously avoid black. Now, I’m really appreciating black, taupe and gray. I still love color in my scarves, though!

I completely agree with something you implied. At certain price points I cannot stomach paying new. It doesn’t matter if I can “afford” it. The price just may not be what I’m willing to pay - either in general or for that particular bag.

So if I do buy a K or B it most certainly will be preloved. Can’t justify the price and can’t stomach the “offering” process.

When I’ve bought preloved, 90% of the time it’s been new or like new. The ones I’ve refurbished have been rarer pieces that I was able to have brought back to like new.

I still have some HG’s out there I want to snag. So I’ll defintiely buy preloved again. But I’d really rather catch a sale on new if possible. Or just buy the one bag once in a while I have to have full price if I know it’s a keeper.

That being said. yoogis has a 15% off sale now! LOL!
