I sold another bag through my local consignment shop. This one I feel a tad guilty about as it was a gift two Christmas’s ago. It just wasn’t my style. I was asked about it a while ago and said I was wearing it on occasion but the thin strap killed my shoulder. Hopefully I won’t be asked again. Do you ever feel bad when you get rid of a gift?

Yes. There is a bag my husband gifted to me before our wedding that he went to pick out all by himself without my input... I keep it but I don’t use it because its to small for me and for a tote bag the straps don’t have a long enough drop

Good thing I have nothing like that, as I'd have a hard time getting rid of it!!! Actually my really clueless ex once gifted me some totally practical atrocious suede-ish boots that were so surprising I kept them as a reminder that ppl can be thoughtful in their own way. I could/should/might get rid them now. (But should I 'need' them one day, I NEVER want to have to run out and get some...)

it depends on who gifted it, if it'my DH, i will keep it, might exchange for a more wearable colour, if that's applicable, as for the rest of family, or friends, i would keep it for a year to see if i find the use for the gift, if not, off it goes elsewhere

well, all rules have exceptions, and that's the case now
Piazza is not up my alley
I don't like it in any size
I have seen it irl in Cobalt, i still didn't like it although i love Cobalt
in my VERY humble opinion this is not quite BV, at least for me, if you remove the intrecciato pattern from the lock, nobody would ever ID this as BV, for me it does not have the spirit of BV, no offense, please
too little room due to split triple compartments, but the base is solid, it means that bag will not stretch to allow you to load it properly.
it's not too heavy (comparing, for example, with Roma), but too heavy for its size due to excess of leather used for all those compartments.
I really like the feel of the leather, and sheen... now you can throw rotten tomatoes at me
THANK YOU!!!!!! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I hadn't seen the bag in person (my local boutique doesn't have any... it's a really tiny store) so I was just going by the photos. All that lovely metallic leather.

But it doesn't sound at ALL usable, and that's really the whole point of a bag.

Whew! You are a real pal, ksuromax! :ghi5:

Pleasure, dear Elaine! :ghi5:

I agree, some of these are totally OTT (and $6,500 for the subway bag is insane). The Loop hobo is my favorite (and I think it’s gone up in price since I took this screenshot). Classic shape, a little edgy hardware, a little more structure than most of their other hobos. Right up my alley! Of course, the large is too large and the small is probably too small, but that’s another story ...

This is small, the grey with a map is bigger, but this still does not explain the vast difference on the price

Have you tried getting quotes from online consignment shops like Fashionphile, Yoogis and Ann’s? Maybe they’ll give you a price that you can accept given they then do the work of selling? Just a thought.
Yep. I got quotes and they were abysmal.
I think when I fall out there’s little chance of rekindling that love. [emoji3] So the best thing is to let go. Remember what I did with a bag I “gave” to a friend, I asked her to pay a token amount (which she was very happy to do). Don’t you have someone like that to which you could “give” the bag. If not, maybe you can accept low offers from consignment shops.
No one to sell it to personally. I’m just super frustrated on these items. Sigh.
Who else here has/had 3 (or 3 +) same bags? Please say how you arrived at multiples.

There only 2 models of bags I have 3 of. Interestingly both were first designed more than 70 years ago.

H Bolide. I have 3, 2 x 35s and a travel size Web. The travel size is prob closer to the original of 1923. They are basically the only H bag I thought I'd ever want besides a Black Box Kelly. I was partly right, except I'm glad I have the other models too but Bolides are so easy in all respects. Can't think of another to add except as I said to go exotic. They are prob more 'me' than a Kelly but then I've always been drawn to rounded bags.

Gucci BTH are my signature bags (and also rounded). I have 2 Large and one Med. The large is actually closer to the original size. When I wear them I feel like myself and I know what I'm doing with them. Like Bolides they stay organised inside and they also have hand-friendly handles as well as detachable shoulder straps. The bamboo handles are cool in the Summer and warm-up in the Winter. My med is a Bamboo Bold and was always going to be more formal but they always look both a little bit fancy and tough. Like Bolides too, you can dress them up if you want but the design is actually really strong on its own.
I am a fan of buying multiples because when something works, it works!!! Why struggle to find a different model when the one that makes me happy comes in various colors, sizes and materials.

I have 5 Chanel classic flaps and 3 Miss Diors. I would buy additional ones of each in a heartbeat if I like the color / material variation and got a good deal. (I also have several models of bags of which I own 2.)

In fact as I look at the list of my collection, I would happily accept a 2nd or 3rd (or 6th) of almost all of them. They’re all pretty and functional. I just won’t buy more because I’m trying to keep my collection manageable and don’t really need them right now.

Congrats!

No, I don’t feel bad when I get rid of a gift. The point of the gift was to make me happy -not to saddle me with something I don’t want. So, if it misses the mark I offload the item. Then I’m happy with the proceeds or space that exit provided. And I’m happy for people to return, sell, regift whatever I give them for the same reason. I want them happy. I just want them to tell me so I can learn from them what they like and don’t like.

Popping in and saying hi! Life and work have been hectic lately - studying for an extra license, planning our move in July (fingers crossed things are on time cuz waiting just makes me anxious, I need it done!) and hiring another 2 members to our team. Crazy!

I did manage to find a black nylon backpack with gold details to fit my laptop!!! Was soooo worth the wait to stumble across this - and it was an accident! I happen to be killing time in Winners and found it for $49.99. I did debate whether to buy it seeing as I had so many bags but having to lug around my laptop a lot more lately and studying materials was just a pain in the butt, so having everything I’ve been looking for in a backpack for work, I bought it and I’ve been using it every day since. Love it. One of my best purchases.

And today, just taking a breather from craziness and enjoying a late breakfast with dh in the sun, before starting my studies.

Three Kelly’s: Rouge Vif Box 32, Fauve Barenia 35, Indigo Box 35 with Rouge Vif lining. The Indigo Box wasn’t planned, but when I saw it (vintage special order) I couldn’t resist.

Three Chanel Reissues: Black 226 with Ruthenium HW, Dark Blue 227 with Ruthenium HW, Black 227 with Gold HW. I’m going to see how much use the dark blue one gets over the summer and then decide whether to sell.

I’ve been known to end up with multiples when I get a bag in a color that is spring/summer and then want another for fall/winter (or the reverse). Or, when I love the first iteration of the bag but find it would work better in a different color or size. I got the blue 227 Reissue because the 226 was too small for everyday. I didn’t want two black reissues, but over time realized I still wanted the larger size in black. Trial and error.
OMG your kellys!! Would love to see pix sometime.

At the salon today with my Jimmy Choo Raven.

This is so pretty. The black one they had at the outlet had someone's nail scratch right on the front and center of the bag and the snake one was to delicate for me. I'm still waiting to get a black bag till I get rid of some more of the black bags that don't work but have not held their value so I have held on to them.

Thanks! I have the impression that the leather does not scratch easily, so whoever scratched that piece must have scratched really hard! Good luck in selling the blacks that don't work. Btw, I visited the Jimmy Choo boutique when I was in the mall after the salon session. They had a gold metallic Raven in the bigger size. I'm glad I got the smaller one as that one would be too big for my purpose.

That mall (aside from the usual boutiques there) also had a pop up store that carries Loewe, Valentino Garavani, Chloe, Proenza Schouler and Anya Hindmarch. Eye candy!! And I got the chance for the first time to see the Loewe Puzzle, Gate and Hammock IRL. @vink , the leather on your bag is so beautiful! They don't have medium but I got to try the small.

How wonderful to find a perfect bag, and completely by accident! Love that Panda pouch too!
